I heard we earn credits for writing letters to our children. What is it for?

PS; What happened to ourcompassion.org? There are quite a few links to it but the forum seems to be down.

Hi Chak,

I'm not sure what the credits might be, but ourcompassion.org was discontinued close to a year ago now, I believe.  Compassion probably needs to go through and remove any references to it.  Some of the users of ourcompassion have set up facebook pages and other forums to take it's place, but I don't really use any of them, so I don't know how to get to them, sorry to say.

We do not receive 'credit' for writing.  Correspondence sponsors are expected to write three times a year or more, but that's about it.  As mentioned OurCompassion is gone.  I don't think it's possible to remove things from a search engine.  Or if the links are in blogs, they probably wouldn't go back and delete them.  They just stay out there.  We moved to a facebook group, which is overseen by two Compassion employees (the same two that oversee this board).  If you want to be added to the fb group, they could do that for you.

Thanks Jamie and Debbie!
In this Compassion video
A Sponsor's Letter: From Gayle to Her Child

there's mention of receiving credit at about 3:33.

Hi Chak,

I watched the video just now, and I was thinking that maybe Compassion meant that they keep track of how many times we have written to our sponsored kids.  When I asked about my sponsored child, Compassion told me that although she had been in the program for seven years, she only had a total of six letters from all previous sponsors.  That broke my heart, and I am determined to be a different sponsor!  You should get an official reply to your question tomorrow.

Yes, I also just watched the video and it does not say we 'earn credits' it says we 'received credit' which just means they keep track of how many letters are written for statistic purposes, but also if you aren't writing at all, and you would call in, they might suggest that a correspondence sponsor be assigned to your child.
