Hello,

My understanding is that the minimum number of letters a child should be writing is two a year.  However, if their sponsor writes them frequently, the child should be writing six letters a year.  Please correct me if I am wrong.

I believe that some centers are doing a great job with this guideline.  For instance:

I have received five letters from Fred Pascal Bajuto TZ3010359 since Dec 10, 2013.

I have received five letters from Gabriel Fidelis Pereira BR5360052 since December 10, 2013.

I have received five letters from Uwizeyimana Jeanette RW4400026 since January 15, 2014.

I have received four letters from Kellyn Olimpía Gavilan Pimentel PE3520350 since February 21, 2014.

I have received four letters from Melisa Natalia Untayana IO8470743 since February 3, 2014.

Then there are some centers that I think could be doing better:

I have received five letters from Juan Cordero Encarnacion DR4021415 since April 30, 2013.

I have received two letters from Galo Calixto Apugllon Sagñay EC4250591 since March 31, 2014.

I have received one letter from Sowmiya N IN6290465 since May 13, 2014.

I have received two letters from Subarna Biswas BD3371053 since February 25, 2014.

I have received two letters from Scovia Sanyu UG4470183 since February 25, 2014.

I have received two letters from Axel Ramiro Requenez Facha ME7800460 since February 25, 2014.

I have received two letters from Suchona Rani BD2391034 since April 1, 2014.

I have received two letters from Gabriela Michell Alvarado Cardoza ES7870448 since June 5, 2014.

I have received two letters from Jose Adalberto Hernandez Figueroa ES8699112 since April 1, 2014.

I have received one letter from Endalkachew Kebede ET3000403 since April 1, 2014.

I have received one letter from Cesar Alfredo Ajcot GU9390487 since March 31, 2014.

Then I have not heard from Srinithy Utchathevan (sponsored since May 9, 2014) at all.

I have not received a letter from the below children, but they are newer (Oct, Nov, Dec sponsorships) so I am not as worried.

Abinash Tigga

Akello Caroline

B Rathinan

Benson Maina Njoroge

Dadri Edmund John

Faith Anyango Khalaba

Fernando Dario Chiguano Quinalusia

Fernando Josue Centeno Najera

Halima Husein Baraka

Javan Omugwara

Maa Sarah Otoo

Mariela Andrea Sandoval Navarro

Melisa Mamani

Mesfen Belachu

Moshi Adam Dimo

Paulina Donkor

Princess Camacho

Priscilla Naa Yemoko Mensah

Ripon Sarker

Rohed Rendy Penheiro

Samoel Kristiawan

Since I have sponsored Julissa Jaquelin Reyes Rivas HO3700234 (March 9, 2013).  I have only received five letters from her.  Two letters in 2013 and only three letters in 2014.  I write her consistently, so I am curious why I don’t get the maximum of six letters per year?

Since sponsoring Melanie Lisseth Chugchilan Toaquiza (Dec 11, 2013), I have received only four letters from her.

I am concerned about Sintiyio Pooyuo KE 3680126.  I used to hear from her all the time.  I have not heard from her in awhile nor received any word about the $100 gift I sent over six months okay.  I hope she is okay?

I see Francois TG 503 0034 is missing from my list and I never received any word about this?  Did his sponsor start writing him?  Did he drop out of the program?  Is he okay?

Thanks, Laura Evans

Laura, you are so incredibly engaged with each of these children. It's so evident that you care deeply for them and have a heart to get to know them and invest in their daily lives. Just to clarify about the frequency of letters; sponsor's (like yourself) that write so often to your children, can expect to receive up to 6 letters not in a one year (January to January) period, but in a rolling 12 month period. Often times however, it takes a couple of years to get this going because of the initial 2-3 months for those first letters to get out to your child to kick start that relationship. some of our children who have had multiple sponsor's or a sponsor that didn't write as often as you, also get discouraged by letter writing and may be overwhelmed at first or caught off guard by the amount of letters they are suddenly receiving from you. As exciting as it is for them, they may just need some time to catch up and learn that you are interested in receiving letters in return and want to get to know them.

You certainly should have heard from Srinithy by now and I am so sorry that you still have yet to receive a letter. I have sent an inquiry to our office in India to check up her and ensure she is doing alright. I have also requested that a letter be sent to you. You should be receiving a letter from Sowmiya very soon. If you do not receive one next by next month, please let me know and I will send an inquiry to our country office.

Because you just began sponsoring several of these children this around the middle of last year or beginning in 2014, and after reviewing the accounts of the children that you have posted about; it looks like they just need some time to catch up to your letters. I see that Melanie's first couple of letters were about five months apart but then her next two letters were two months apart which is very encouraging to me. My prayer is that this continues and you begin to see letters every couple of months from her and your other children with how often you have been writing!

I want to encourage you that we have already received three letters from your children for you this month and you can look forward to getting these soon! Three of these letters are from Endalkachew, Cesar, and Juan which I know you were concerned about. The children that you began sponsoring less than six months ago, should be getting their first letters out to you shortly. For example, Melisa's letter is on its way to you! :)

I have good news for you regarding Sintiyio and your gift. We received a letter from her several days ago and you should be getting this in the mail soon! Because your gift was sent in the middle of June, this letter should be her thank you letter for that gift :). If it does not acknowledge the generous gift that you sent to her, please let us know and we can send an inquiry to our country office in Kenya.

I know it can be hard waiting for letters to start flowing with the current writing process we have in place. But I am so grateful that you have continued feeding love into each of these kiddos!

In regards to Francois, I am so sorry for any concern him missing from your account suddenly, may have caused you! I have written you an email with additional information that you will receive shortly.

Hi Emily!
I emailed you.....but here is part of my email.

Hi Emily!

Thanks for your reply on the website and this note in my email!  First I want to make sure that you guys know that the amount of letters I receive from the children will in no way make me change how much I love them or how much I write to them.  I just thought I should let you know so that if it was an issue it could be taken care of so other people who might be experiencing the same thing won't get frustrated and stop sponsoring or writing their children.  I love Compassion so much.  If I could write to 100 children I would!  It is such my passion and Godly gift.  What you wrote online totally makes sense about the rolling calendar, etc!  It makes a lot of sense and I totally understand it a lot better now.  Thanks for taking the time to write and explain it to me.

I really do appreciate you answering my questions and explaining things.  I appreciate all the work you guys do to reply to all of our questions and everything on this forum.

Have a blessed Christmas!

Laura

Hello Laura! I'm glad that cleared things up for you! I haven't received your email yet but will certainly be watching for it. We are blessed to partner with sponsor's who have such a passion for encouraging children and giving them the chance to hear about Jesus. Thank you so much for your kind words, we appreciate you! Merry Christmas to you also! :)
