I have only recieved one letter from my child. My kids were so excited to hear from her and now we haven’t heard from her since October. Is this normal??

Hi Jen,
I am so sorry for the confusion on not hearing from your child and that this has caused your children to feel disappointed!

The typical process for letter writing from the child's side is that they write every other month, if they have a letter from you to respond to. This means that since you and your family write once a month, they should receive these letters and then write back roughly every other month with a maximum of 6 letters per year. However, as you are seeing, there can sometimes be complications that lead to less frequent letters. It is possible that your child missed a letter writing day, the child was sick or the family was not able to have the child come to the center on letter writing day. It is also possible the child's center is just a little behind on the translation process and your kiddos letter is waiting to be translated. We have seen a small increase in the amount of time it takes to have letters translated since January because Compassion switched over to new translation software and we are still working through the learning curve. All in all, this is not typical and I am confident that as you continue to write to and encourage your child, you will begin to hear more from her. In the meantime, we do want you to know that if it ever goes six full months without hearing from Obaayaa, we do want to send in an inquiry just to make sure she is okay. I show that it will be six months on May 10th, so if you still have not heard from her by then, please let us know and we will send an inquiry for you!
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding! We know the first year or so tends to be the hardest when it comes to letters because you are just beginning your relationship together. I pray that going forward you and your family will be able to build a very strong relationship with Obaayaa. :)
