Hi,

Am I allowed to write a letter back to my correspondent child in a different color? I like to make things colorful.

You should be able to write in a color other than black. I write in different colors frequently, and my letters don't spend very long in the translation process. My mom and I just sent a letter written in green to her sponsor child, because green is the child's favorite color.

Hi Caroline,

Thank you for your response. How long does it take for your letters to get through the translation process?

I do it online. I hand write the letter, and then upload a picture of my letter on Compassion's website.

Hi Caroline,

How did you find out when your letters were done with the translation process?

I obsessively check the website until I see the letter has finished processing. There's no timer or anything that tells you how long your letter took to process, I just check my letter writing history every couple hours while my letters are processing.

Hi Caroline,

When you go to your letter writing history, where are you seeing that it's done with translation? I've written my sponsored child three times, and I haven't seen that it's done with translation.

Right after you submit a letter, if you go to your letter writing history, at the top you'll see a bar with the date on the right and the word "Submitted" on the left. After a while, on the left of the grayed bar with the date, you'll see "In Progress" or something similar in a small square. Now there should also be the word "View" on the box with the letter date, and you can view your letter. If you click on the words "In Progress" you can see if your letter is submitted, in translation, or if translation is complete. Sometime after you see "translation complete" (after clicking on "In Progress") the bar with your letter date and the "View" button will turn blue. The blue bar (like in the picture below) means your letter has finished processing. I don't have any letters in progress right now, or I'd show you what those look like.
