I received an email recently from Compassion more or less apologizing for the delay in receiving letters from my sponsored child. I'd like to know more about what is going with that. My sponsored child is in Sri Lanka and I have not received a letter since last July, and the date on her letter was from February 2016. I'd like to know what the issue with the wait for letters is and if there is anything to be done about it. My sponsor number is 02279293. Thank you.

Katherine, thank you so much for responding to that email and alerting me that this has been going on for you. Going longer than six months without a letter is not normal and should not be happening. I do see letters in the system that Karthikadevi has written over the past few months. They haven't been processed and placed on your account yet, so I am sending an inquiry to our country office in Sri Lanka to see if that will help speed the process up for you! You've been waiting far too long to hear from your precious girl! It can take up to eight weeks for us to hear back from the office with the letter, but it will be coming to you!

We moved over to a new letter writing system last April, but we experienced several frustrating errors as it was being rolled out. Those errors caused a large backlog of letters at the country offices while they were being processed, and some offices had more trouble than others. These letters from Karthikadevi should have been processed by now, which is why I am sending that inquiry for you. I sincerely apologize for the very long wait you have had! If you ever go longer than six months without hearing from her again, please let us know immediately so that we can investigate what is going on.

Thank you for letting me know! It's always been a little longer with letters from Sri Lanka, and I don't mind, but I do miss getting letters! Thanks again for checking on it for me. I appreciate it.

Hello! Could you possibly check on my child from Sri Lanka, Vithurshini? I haven't heard from her in a while and her last letter was dated from November. Thank you!

Rebekah, it looks like she has actually written a few letters to you but they are addressed to her previous sponsor so they were sent back. I just sent an inquiry to make sure she knows that you are now sponsoring her and to address letters to you from now on. In the mean time, I am sending these letters to you in an email.
