I am looking to sponsor another child. My sister sponsors a few children in Africa where the center uploads videos and pictures to create a greater connection. I would be looking to sponsor a child in honor of my parents and they would be the ones in contact. Can you recommend a region(s) that have centers with more media interaction like this? Thank you!

Hi Jordan and Jenny! Those videos of individual children and child centers are very special for the sponsors, but regrettably we don't have one for every center or child. Jordan, I don't have a list of specific centers or areas that have more interaction like this. It usually depends on where our video teams happen to take a trip. I will tell you that your parents should hear from their child often if they write consistently though. If they write once a month to the child, they can expect to receive up to six letters a year back. I know it's not the same as seeing a video of where the child lives and what the daily life is like, but it does help build a deep bond with the child!

You say "up to six letters a year". When I started sponsoring, I was under the impression that children were required to write within 60 days of receiving a letter from their sponsor, which would be 6 letters a year for a sponsor who writes once a month. Has this policy changed?

I know the new letter system has been blamed for the lack of communication that many of us have experienced since April 2016. Will sponsors be able to expect a child to write a letter within 60 days of receiving one in 2017, as was the policy when many of us signed up as sponsors?

Beth, I'm so sorry that you have not been receiving very many letters from your precious children since we began our season of change in April. I hear your concern and love for your children, and I understand how special and important their letters must be for you. Yes, our letter writing policy has never changed, and it will stay the same in the future. Our children have still been expected to write within 60 days of receiving a letter from their sponsor. It's true, we have experienced more bugs along the way than we had anticipated, and this has caused delays with letters being sent and received. Sometimes children have received multiple letters at once due to a backlog, and this has resulted in the child responding to multiple letters at once with one letter. We are very sorry that you may not receive your 6 letters this year. We are very grateful for how you and all of our sponsors have been graceful and patient through this process. We do have one final system update in mid-January, and we are prayerfully hopeful that all of our sponsors can expect to see regular correspondence with their children once again after this update :). Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. God bless you and Happy New Year!
