My little girl lives in Indonesia. It says that a common health problem is malaria. Does she have a bed net? Do children who attend a project in an area where a certain disease or sickness is common recieve preventive treatment?

Hey Lizzie! Treated Mosquito nets are provided to children and their families who live in areas where Malaria occurs. We are able to provide these nets by funds donated to the Malaria Fund and the Bite Back Campaign. You're welcome to ask your child in your next letter if she has a mosquito net.

We do our best to provide preventative treatment- especially through education. So many diseases can be avoided by providing education to children and their parents. Any health issues children have are usually found in their health check-ups. If the project staff feels that a child need attention, they will consult a doctor and provide medicine if needed. Most health issues are covered through the medical fund.

Hello Lizzie,
We are also exp[experiencing that in kenya, Its more a common problem During the rainy season, apart from having the nets ,please make sure you clear the bushes around you so that you are safe from Mos bites, they hide in this bushes and even around the flowers.
Hope to make a little contribution though am still new.
Thanks

I just got a letter back from Kartini today! She said that she doesn't have a bed net to protect her. I know that you will take care of her if she gets sick, but I don't want her to get sick. If I sent her $10, could she purchase a bed net? It seems like I read somewhere that Compassion only distributes nets in Burkina Faso and Haiti. Is this true?

Thank you, Lizzie

Hey Lizzie! We distribute nets in many countries, but particularly in the African countries we work in. You're welcome to send her a $10 gift and suggest that she use it to purchase a net, but they may purchase another item they need more.

Last week I sponsored a little girl in Indonesia and Olga's profile said she had a medical condition & was receiving treatment. After I sponsored her, the case study said she has malaria. From what I've read online about malaria, once you have it, it doesn't go away. Hopefully her treatments keep it from flaring up. She looks very thin in her photo, I'm guessing the illness is part of it. I'm glad to know Compassion is helping fight malaria, and helping children who have it get the medical care they need.
