Matching funds

My company matches my donations each month (both sponsorship and gifts). Whatfund do these matching monies go into? Just curious more than anything. Also, I did a fundraiser on Facebook last year as a part of Giving Tuesday. I didn’t realize my company would match donations. Is there anyway to get a receipt for the $200 I raised to see if my company would do a match. Of course I don’t know if that was even in my name or how it worked. I just jumped in and posted. I don’t believe any funds I raised got matched by Facebook. Thank you in advance.

Hi Ann! That's a great question. Whenever a company matches funds, those are typically given to our Where Most Needed fund. Regrettably, because the $200 you raised (which is awesome, by the way!! Thank you!) wasn't money that you personally gave, we aren't able to find a receipt for that so your company could match it. Companies will only match funds that you give specifically.

Thank you for the quick reply! I assumed exactly that in both instances. I am very happy to know matching funds are going to the Where Most Needed fund. My husband only recently started working for this company and I was so happy to find they would match funds. Though we are only able to give a little it’s almost as good as being able to sponsor another child.

I would also like to tell the people like yourself who work answering the questions on this forum a heartfelt “thank you”. Since sponsoring Juan I’ve had one person say to me something negative about child sponsorship. The quickness and transparency with which questions are answered here goes a long way, a very long way, in combatting any lingering feelings of doubt such negativity might leave. I also would not have realized you could be a correspondent sponsor without reading here. And I am finding that I feel really called to that program. Anyway, all this to say thank you and job well done!
