Hi, our sponsored child is turning 18 this fall and she has told us that she is going on to college (yay!).  When does our sponsorship end?  If she is going away to college then I don't see how our Compassion dollars will reach her.  Thank you.

p.s.  I would like to schedule our sponsorship to end after the October deduction, please.  We have sponsored her since she was 4 years old, and another child before that, but we are seniors on a fixed income, and the price of everything (groceries, gas, utilities) is going up and up.

Hello Adler! How awesome to receive the news that your sponsored child, Kenia, will be continuing her education and pursuing the opportunity to attend college! She has been faced with so many challenges and difficulties in her life and for her to be able to overcome those and stay focused is a true blessing from God! You must be very proud of her. I would encourage you to write to her and let her know how proud you are. Compassion will allow her to remain in our program up to the age of 22 and we highly encourage her to pursue a secondary education. We find that education truly is the key to equipping a child living in poverty with the skills and training they will need to pursue a career. We continue to provide for the education, clothing, medical, dental and so on while they go to school. Currently we estimate that Kenia will graduate from the Compassion program in October of 2022. We would love if you are able to continue to sponsor her until she graduates our program, however, we certainly understand if this is not something you can manage financially any longer. We will not stop providing for her needs and will seek out another sponsor if you do have to cancel your sponsorship. However, it is a bit more difficult to find a sponsor for an older child. We do have some options available to assist you financially. I would be happy to pause your monthly contribution for the months of August through October. I can also reduce the monthly amount to $19 for the months of November through January. Your normal monthly contribution of $32 would not resume until February. Please let me know whether or not this would help you. Regrettably, I can not schedule a future cancellation. We ask that if you do end up needing to cancel your support for Kenia, you would let us know at that time. I appreciate your understanding and all of the years that you have been able to support Kenia and Compassion's ministry. Your support, love and encouragement have made such a difference in her life!

Thank you very much for your reply.  Of course I have written to her all along, encouraged her in her schoolwork, and let her know how proud we are that she's going to college.  :-D  We'll talk over the options you have suggested.  Thanks again.
