Hello!
I would like to give a monetary gift to two of my correspondant children for their birthdays. I would like to do this online on my account. However, I cannot find where I can do this. I check under my child's profile, under additional giving, and just about everywhere else. So, can you help me? Is it possible to do this online?
Thank you,
Lizzie :)

Hey Lizzie- unfortunately you aren't able to give your correspondent children a gift on our website. To give them a gift, please call or email us.

Can I ask why is that on the giving statement it lists gifts I have given to correspondent children as "holding fund"? It doesn't list the child's name either, just the amount.

When you give a gift to your correspondent child, we have to do some internal transferring since you are not that child's financial sponsor. Part of this transfer is to the holding fund. This is basically just a place where we hold funds before transferring them on to the correct fund to be transferred to the field offices. The holding fund is not limited to a specific child, so you will not see your child's name next to the transaction. If you would like to double check that your gift was applied correctly, you can always call or email us to make sure.

Steph,
I've had this happen to me when I've given to a correspondent, or when I've given to a child who has just graduated from the program. I've called and Compassion has been able to trace the funds through to my designee, but the part of their system we can see on "my account" just doesn't have all the details. I've learned that "holding fund" doesn't mean they are still holding it.

I am a corresponding sponsor to a little boy that someone wanted to sponsor but not write. I was wondering with Christmas approaching if I donate extra money when I send my little girl I'm sponsoring a Christmas donation is there a way to do a gift to him on holidays and birthdays? If not that should be something offered like how we're reminded for the kids we fully sponsor.

Hi Casey! I merged your inquiry with this conversation because others have also had this same question. Because you are not the financial sponsor, you're unable to find gift options on your My Account. You may call our office at (800) 336-7676 or email us at ciinfo@us.ci.org and we're happy to assist you sending your correspondent child a gift for their birthday! Thanks for wanting to bless Edwin in such a very tangible way!

Marissa, you're welcome to do the same! Miguel and Sekela would be so blessed to receive such a kind and thoughtful gift from you :). Thank you!

Good Morning, Eleanor. I can process those gifts for you today. :) Would you like me to use the card you are currently using for your monthly contributions? Thank you for wanting to bless each these kids with a special birthday gift!

Hello! I already tried to send a monetary gift to my correspondent child Zakayo (#TZ1380049) for his birthday a few weeks ago but I had just gotten a new card and fogot to change it on my account and I don't think the gift went through. If not could you please try again for $35? Thanks.

Hi Yahira! I do see that the birthday gift contribution did not go through. Just to be extra sure, would this be using the same Visa that you use for your monthly contributions? Thank you!
