I got a letter from my child yesterday and I read disturbing news that her grandpa died. I sent her a letter already, but I feel like I should do more. I just don't know what. So what do you think I should do? Please help me! I feel really bad but I don't know what to do!

Addy, it looks like you also called yesterday about this and I can imagine that this is very upsetting news to hear. :( Thankfully, it looks like your sweet girl has both parents who support her and her brother is also in Compassion's program. You can rest assured in knowing that the Compassion staff in the area will circle around this family in this time. I think in any situation like this, it is okay to not know what to do or say. The important thing is that she knows that you love her and that you are praying for her. If you say nothing else in a letter in response, that would mean a lot.

Hi Addyson, a similar thing happened to me. I believe what you described is an opportunity. When I recieved the letter is shook me in a lot of ways. I encourage you first to pray. Ask the Lord why He has given you this opportunity and how to respond. My experience has led to a face to face visit that changed me and my family. I am now a child advocate and praying that I can return for a custom visit:). Thanks for your deep concern for your child. I'm sure this is the beginning of an amazing adventure!

Hi Bruce.  Can you please explain what a "child advocate" is?  Is it something you are doing through Compassion or is it with another organization?  Thanks!
