This is my very first month sponsoring a child. When I created the app account, there was automatically a letter in there from someone else to my child. It also said that I had not written to him in 38 Days. I selected this child, among other reasons, because it said he had been waiting over a year. I’m confused why someone else’s letter is in my account and if he has really been waiting or not. Can you help me understand what’s going on?

Jennifer, I am so sorry for the confusion with your child having a letter from someone else on your account. I did figure out what happened. Another sponsor chose Jordan several months ago before you began sponsoring him a few weeks ago. Sadly, they chose not to make the sponsorship official by sending in donations and his sponsorship was canceled. He never even knew he had a sponsor actually. This letter was already being worked on in the letter process and mistakenly was connected to your account instead of that sponsor. I have removed that letter from your account and you shouldn't see it on the app any longer. This was a very unusual case! There are times when children are sponsored and then the sponsorship is canceled just soon after like his was before he was ever told he had a sponsor. Jordan should know by the end of this month that you are his sponsor and will be writing you an introductory letter very soon. Please feel free to write him a letter to introduce yourself as well :). Again, I am so sorry for the confusion!

This is happening to me right now. It shows a letter in transit to my child and it is not my letter.

Someone else's letter is in transit to my child in my account. I'm confused because I thought I was her only sponsor and she had been waiting a while

How is this true? I've been sponsoring this child since the beginning of february and the person's letter was written on March 6th. Also, now my letter to Chriszel is gone. I wrote her back on 2/12 and now the letter is removed. My letter from my other child is also now removed. This is becoming very frustrating, as i've already had several several problems with my account. Chriszel is also showing up twice in the account.

Kacee, the former sponsor has a certain length of time to write a final letter to the child, which is probably what this letter is. It does not have to be done immediately and due to the emotional ties people develop with their sponsored child and vice versa it can take a while to be able to write a final letter. The Compassion staff can have the IT department look into where your letter is. Sounds like a glitch in the system since both of your letters are not showing up. God bless!

Ok. Was just concerned because the reason we chose her is because her paper said she had been waiting over 6 months for a sponsor.

Kacee, I am so sorry for the confusion and for any miscommunication. It looks like Chriszel actually lost her sponsor in mid January. As Heather mentioned, they have up to three months to send a final letter.
