Why didn't I get an email or at least an in app update to let me know about this?  I get a letter from my child explaining her lose of her parent.  This seems pretty serious to me.  What will happen to my sponsor child?

Hi awentsel,

First of all, please know we are so sorry for your sweet girls loss. We do take this very seriously and of course care very much about her and her well-being.

Secondly, we do an update every two years for each of our children and I show her last update was in June 2019. At that time, we did update her information to show that her parents had passed. I am so sorry if you never received that update. This is the same one that has an update on how she is doing in school, at home, her hobbies, etc. Again, I am so sorry if you did miss that update. Sadly, we have a lot of children in the program who have lost their parents. It is a sad reality of living in poverty that many families are broken by the loss of a family member. However, we still do take this very seriously. At the time we met with her in June, she did not report living with anyone else. She is 17 now, so may have just chosen to live on her own. However, you are welcome to ask her in your next letter if you would like. I am sure she would be so thankful to know you care so much about her and that you are praying for her! She is still in the program for now, with an expected graduation date of 2-29-2024. We will pray that she can continue and finish the program strong!
