I got a sympathy card telling my child I sponsored died. I called the number to inquire on what happened. The man who answered the phone was clueless. He told me I never sponsored this child, this child was not part of compassion and I was mistaken. I dug through all my papers for my Id number and then he's like oh he's dead. I said I know, I would like to find out why/how. This man who "helped" was rude, had no idea what he was doing and had zero compassion. I guess I'll never know.

I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sure one of the ladies from the social media team that monitor this forum will be able to help you tomorrow when they are back in the office. Prayers for you as well as your child's family.

Katie, I am deeply sorry for your loss and for the way your were informed about your sweet boy passing away. This is not how we handle these delicate situations. Rest assured we are getting training for the representative you spoke with because we understand how sensitive and heartbreaking these situations are. I'm so glad that I was able to speak with you over the phone and talk with you personally. Again, I'm so sorry that Samuel has passed away, but please know you had an incredible difference in his life and in his family's life. They will be able to keep your letters to him for years to come. It breaks our hearts when the children we love pass away. Thank you so much for all the love and care you showed towards your sweet boy. We appreciate your prayers for his family, and please know we're praying for you!
