My thoughts about Compassion after 6 months

I am not sure I can put this into words but here goes.   In July, my wife expressed a desire to sponsor a child after attending a concert in middle tennessee.  I quickly researched everything to get the details, I knew that Compassion was legit already from previous concerts, testimony, etc that was not the issue, I just wanted to know more about it.

My wife let me pick out her child,  she only had a requirement that she spoke spanish.   Ruth from the Dominican Republic was sponsored and all three of us wrote her letters asking her all kinds of questions.   About 7 or 8 weeks later, we got a response and Ruth answered every single question and even had some of her own.  We are currently waiting her 2nd letter to get translated.

I wanted to do more and found information on the Correspondent program and started writing letters to kids hopefully it will make a difference. There was one common theme in my research that I heard and read over and over,  how much those letters mean to the kids. Not sure when we are going to stop requesting kids.........right now we are easily writing the kids once a month.

The movie Beautifully Broken came out and I was moved to sponsor a child too,  Anahi in Ecuador.  We are still waiting to hear from her, hopefully soon!

Compassion has been pretty amazing so far and we have been very pleased with the initial communications we have had with the kids. We love getting the updated pictures.  We have averaged probably a letter from a child 8 weeks from sponsorship date. The letters from Africa have been really special,  Lydia from Kenya wrote "I'm so happy to have you in my life,  I am putting more effort into everything I do"

Many thanks to Compassion graduate Gilbert Mfitundinda for his words of encouragement.

I cant finish the post without thanking these four, they truly are a Blessing!   Sarah, Shannon, Sierra and Christina

Wow! This is so kind! Thank you so much, Michael. We are SO happy and humbled to hear how the Lord is blessing your family through this ministry. Thank YOU all for being so invested in the lives of the children you sponsor and correspond with!
