Are you sponsoring through a program other than Compassion USA? All Compassion USA letters should be translated to English. But other countries I know translate to different languages.

I am sponsoring through Compassion Int'l.  I have received letters via US postal mail in English in the past.  I have never received any communication in French.  I do not speak French.  Thank you

Hi Karen! I'm so sorry for any confusion or concern caused by receiving a letter from your sweet boy that had not been translated yet. The reason his letter is in French is because they speak French in his country, Burkina Faso. You are correct; his letter should have been translated before it was sent to you in the mail. I sincerely apologize for this mistake. I see that Lucien's most recent letter was scanned into the system on February 27, 2018, and it is still currently in translation. Therefore, it should not have been printed and sent to you in the mail yet. If this is the letter you are referring to, then we will need to wait for the letter to complete processing, and then it will be mailed to you once finished. However, if you are referring to an older letter, please let us know, and we will be happy to look into this for you. Thank you for bringing this to our attention so we may help you!

I want to encourage you to take some time to write to Lucien. As his sponsor, you have an amazing opportunity to give hope, encouragement and love to a child who may not otherwise receive it :). Our children treasure their letters, and we have found that children who receive regular letters do better in school. Our online letter writing tool provides a convenient way for you to write your kiddo. Please let us know if you need help in accessing the writing tool on our website. Have a blessed day!

Thank you.  I actually was exploring the online system to see I could best utilize it.  I thought it may be cost-effective to do things online.  When I saw the letters were online, I thought the transalations were already completed.  Good to know the process.

I have a poor track record of writing Lucien.  No excuses. It shouldn't matter how busy I am or how much I travel, I know.  I will strive to do better.  Can I answer his letters online?  It would help me meet my commitment to him, especialy when I am not at home.

Thanks for your kind assistance.

If you go into one of your sponsored child's letters to read it, look at the upper right hand. You can also start a new letter by Clicking on the green Reply button

You can answer his letter online, Karen :). Once you are logged into your account, you can click on "Write My Child" on the left side of the screen to send a letter back to Lucien. The letter will begin going through the translation process once you submit it and will be printed out in our country office in Burkina Faso to be delivered to Lucien.
