I love the ability to send cards using the online system and am wishing for a bit more variety. Actually, even just something with the flavor of "Thinking of you today" would be a fine addition. Are there plans to add more templates to the cards options anytime soon?

Hi Debi! We are so excited to have the option of sending a card to your child on the website. It's definitely something our sponsors have been asking for and so we're blessed that this is now available! More variety is a great idea! Right now, we are really working hard to make sure that the new system is working correctly, functioning fully for our supporters, and that issues and glitches are being resolved. But more variety in the available cards is something we'll consider for the future! :)

Hi Emily.  How is the work going on the new system? Since there are some things they are working on I'm waiting to write letters. I see I have 3 waiting to be sent from Bolivia.

Hi William! Our web team has been able to fix many of the glitches and issues sponsors have been having. I would encourage you to try writing letters again :). First, I would suggest clearing your cache and logging out and back in. Email us at socialmedia@compassion.com with any specific issues you're still experiencing so that we can make sure to troubleshoot them for you.

Thanks Emily. I wrote one yesterday afternoon and I had to retry once to send it and it went through and one last night that went through on the first try.  One of the letters in transit came through late in the day. The translated part was clear but the part written by my sponsor child was blurry. That's not really a big problem for me anyway.

William, we are aware of an issue in our system that is causing letters to appear pixelated. I apologize for that! We did deploy a something that should have fixed this issue yesterday evening. Could you let us know if your letter is still appearing blurry and pixelated?

I just checked and it looks clear now. I was able to read the translation. I know there are still some things to get worked out with this new system. At this time I tried to send a few letters and I get try again later. I guess there's a lot of sponsors writing letters right now maybe causing an overload. Whatever it is it will get worked out. I'll just write my letters after I get home from work late at night.

I know someone got a copy of the cards that they were able to write by hand instead ofon the computer. Can I get a few of these?

I'm curious to hear more about this, Addyson. What kinds of cards are you referring to here, and how do they work? Is it like a card template rather than letter template that you just write on and mail, or something different?

Addyson and Debi, we automatically send the same card in the mail to sponsors whose children have an upcoming birthday (or for other special occasions). It is a part of a letter writing appeal. We regrettably are not able to order and send the cards outside of the campaign. I apologize as I am unable to send those to you. However, you can print it yourself online. To do this:

  1. Go to Write My Child section. Click on the child you would like to write to (This will indicate the child number that will be on the template so it does need to be the correct child).
  2. In the first step, select "Send a Card" and select the card you would like to send.
  3. Then, click Next through Write Letter and Add Photos until you get to Preview.
  4. Lastly, click Print above the draft and you will be able to print the empty template.

From what I've read in the forums, there are times when Sponsor kids guardians or other loved ones die. I wold like to suggest adding a Sympathy card to the templates. Also maybe a Get Well card.

Hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes, and unrest related to human interactions are other situations in which I would love to have a "thinking of you" type of card. Not a lot of room to write (which is actually kind of nice for a situation like this), but still with plenty of room to acknowledge something big has happened, that it might affect that child, and to communicate that the child matters to us and to God. Lots of scripture possibilities, like Philippians 4:6, 2 Thessalonians 3:16, Proverbs 3:5-6, or 2 Corinthians 1:3-4.
