New Corespondent?

Hello, In November I was notified that my corespondent child had left the program. I recently called back with a few questions in regard to her leaving. I found out during the call that a new corespondent had been added to my account. However, I don't see the child on my account. Is it normal for a new child to be added automatically without the sponsor requesting or first consenting? I'm glad to have the opportunity to write to this child, I just wanted to clarify where I am with it! I was given the child's ID number if that if helpful.

Hi Rachel! I am so sorry for the confusion regarding the new correspondent child we have picked out for you. The child is not currently on your account because we are waiting to see if the financial sponsor will decide to sponsor the child before we place her on your account as a correspondent. Once the financial sponsor chooses to sponsor the child, she will be placed on your account. If they do not sponsor her, would you like us to place you on the waiting list for a new correspondent child?

Are the financial sponsors you're waiting for the ones who sponsored Mekdes, the child who recently left the program?

Rachel, this is indeed a complicated situation. Whenever a child leaves the program, the financial supporter is sent another child for their consideration. Then, the supporter will have about five weeks to decide whether they'd like to sponsor this new child in place of the previous child. This process is the same when the child also has a correspondent. If the financial supporter accepts the new child, the correspondent of the previous child will automatically be given the new correspondent child. Of course, you may always choose to not accept this new correspondent child, and we simply ask you to let us know. It sounds like this process wasn't very well explained initially, and I'm sorry for any confusion or concern this may have caused. Please let us know if you would like to accept this new correspondent child in the event that the financial supporter chooses to accept them. Thank you!

If the sponsor should except the child, I'm happy to be the correspondent.

Rachel, that's great! If the sponsor does accept Simbo as their new sponsored child, you will be assigned to that child as their new correspondent!
