Hello I am Illinois and I sponsored a child on last week Friday. I filled out the form and recieved a post card and a picture of the child I am to sponsor. I am on your website trying to set up an account so that I can start the process of sending my sponsor child help. I tried just looking for the child name and sponsor number on the picture but it can not be found. I just need assistance please.

Hi, I'm another sponsor but hopefully I can help you until a Compassion rep can respond tomorrow.

If you paid your first month already at the event, all you need to do is wait for your welcome packet and sponsor number to come in the mail. Then you can use that sponsor number to create an onli e account.

If you haven't made your first payment, you can go to www.compassion.com/firstpayment and use the info on your postcard to pay your first month of sponsorship for your child.

I went to the site, followed the directions given, put the information that was on my card (child's name, child's #, and my source code) but was unsuccessful. What do I do now.

Hi Moe! Did it give you any sort of error? If so, what did the error say? Usually, it is the source code that gives problems with this. The following is an example of where you can find the source code on your child's packet. If you still have trouble, please let me know so we can continue to help you!

No error display just saying child not found. I sent the picture of the child I desire to sponsor. I hope some one saw. If you could help me to get things moving it would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning Mokiler,
I am so sorry for the confusion! As Kristen mentioned, because you have already selected a child, you will not be able to view this same child online because the only kiddos online are those that have not been sponsored yet. It typically does take about 2-3 weeks for us to receive your information and make you an account if you selected your child at an event with us. However, I am happy to look to see if we have received your packet yet. Do you happen to have the child number of the child that you selected? This number will start with 2 letters.

For what it’s worth I sponsored at an event as well and I got an email with all my info. It took a few weeks. When writing it takes a bit to. It has to be translated and quality checked before getting to your child, then the response will also take time. I will say through this forum and their FB page they are so quick to respond, with acceptance to holidays and weekends understandably. I’ve just started sponsoring the beginning of December and I got the email first, a packet that was tailored to my child with tons of info, then today an email saying that my sponsored child knows my name! I also recieved another packet with a couple of copies of his pictures. A staff member told me he’s writing to me already as I had asked about siblings and previous sponsor. I hope you enjoy your sponsorship as much as I have in this last month and I pray that god provides for you as you provide for this beautiful child!

I truly appreciate your response. I guess I am anxious to get started I did not want him to continue being without. God has blessed me to have two beautiful girls wouldn't trade them for the world but I do desire to have a boy and when I saw him I had to help. So thank you for your reply and helpful response. I will be patient and wait and continue to lift him and other children up in prayer. Thanks again.

Ok thanks I will try it later. One thing I am reading a lot of blogs where there are people complaining about being given new sponsor kid without their acknowledgement, or children names change and being charged for different children. This kind of thing makes me feel very uneasy about putting my credit card information on your site. Is this a well secured site. And another thing if I ever decide to stop sponsor and no one getting the emails will I be sent a bill anyway even though I stopped sponsoring it's so many questions.

Hi Moe, as a sponsor who has had several children throughout the years, i can try and answer your questions.
When a child leaves the program, a new child packet is sent for you to consider. If you DO NOT contact Compassion and let them know that you do not want to sponsor the new child, he/she will be added to your account. You DO NOT have to accept the new child if you do not want to. The people you see on here saying they were given a child they didn't authorize are, for the most part, people who didn't not read the letter thoroughly and neglected to let Compassion know they did not want to take on the new child.

If you cancel your sponsorship (depending on where it falls on the billing cycle) you may get another month's bill in the mail. You are not obligated to pay it. They won't harass you, or come after you for the money. It is a charitable donation, after all!

If you have any other questions, be sure to post on here! Compassion's social media team is excellent, and they will help you with anything they can!

Well..... thank you very much for the response much appreciated. Just was very sceptical about everything and reading the blog did not make my scepticism any better. Thanks for clearing things up. I will Justin pray, be watchful and let God guide my steps. Again thank you very much.

Oh I understand that! I was so antsy to see who I sponsored. I just had a number, no name, info... then I got the email and I was so excited!
