I sent a $60 gift for my child’s family, plus a $20 gift for her over a year ago, but never received a photo of what was given to her! At the time I sent the gift, it said that with a gift of $60, I would receive a photo of my child with what was purchased. But I never received one.

I am new to all this and it sounds like the things we are being told is not always the truth. This concerns me. Are any if you getting all the things you were told? Pictures and letters?

I think sometimes things slip through the cracks as the centers are keeping track of many kids and correspondence with sponsors is only one of many things that the centers are responsible for. If you don't receive a photo or a letter on time, the U.S. office will send an inquiry and in most cases, you'll get your photo or letter. That's been my experience anyway.

Linda, welcome to the Compassion family. This is a help forum mostly so problems can seem to out weigh the praises here. We have been with Compassion for over 4 years and even if it was late we have always received letters and photos. I have received photos as nice surprises from a couple of my kiddos projects and gifts under $60. Don't get discouraged by what you read here. For every issue you read about here there are many more instances where things go smoothly. God bless!

Linda, I have been a sponsor since 2011 and I have always received the letters and photos promised. I've even been able to send physical gifts to some of my kids when other sponsors visited their countries. - and received photos of my kids with those gifts!
I certainly agree with Heather O, with this being a support forum, you tend to see more of the problems...but even then, seeing how the wonderful staff deals with issues makes me even more sure of the integrity of this organization.

Faithkitty, the helpful people from Compassion can send an iquiry for you. You should have received a photo, that is true, around 6 months after the gift was sent. The inquiry can take 6-8 weeks for an answer. Thank you for blessing your child with your sponsorship and gifts. God bless!

Thanks, Heather. So it might take 6-8 weeks for them to reply to my problem here, or is it 6-8 weeks after someone from Compassion replies to my problem?

Faithkitty, they'll most likely respond to your problem tomorrow and get that inquiry off quickly. It would take 6-8 weeks to receive a response from the country office :)

Hi Faithkitty! I am so sorry for the concern that not receiving the thank you letters in response to your generous gifts has caused you :(. Your email address pulls up an account for the sponsored child Khadija in Tanzania. Is this the child you are talking about? I only ask because I don't see a $60 family gift to her. I do see a $30 general child gift (given 12/2016) and a $25 birthday gift (given 4/2017). Because both of these gifts are under $60, they wouldn't have included a photo of your child with the gifts. Even so, if you didn't receive the thank you letters in response to these gifts, I would be happy to send out inquiries on them to make sure she received the gift and have her write a thank you letter detailing what she purchased with both of them. Let me know if I am not looking at the right child and you have another account that I should be looking at instead!

Yes, Khadija is the right child. Both my husband and I remember giving the $60 gift. I am very concerned that you are not seeing it on your end. I will try to find the credit card statement for that gift. I just wish I remembered exactly when we gave it. I believe it would have been the first Christmas after we sponsored her. Wasn’t that 12/2016? I will check statements from then, and also for 4/2017. I will find that donation!

Sarah,
I found it! It was actually 12/8/2015, and it was $75. Please see screenshots from your website...

Faithkitty, I do see a $75 family gift given in December 2015 and I was just typing up a response about it when I saw you posted :). I would recommend removing the screenshots you attached to your post for your privacy if possible. This gift was given over two years ago and I hadn't looked back that far since you were thinking it was about a year ago. I've been looking through the letters from Khadija after that gift was sent and I do see one that included a special photo of her with a gift. Since this was the only gift given over $60, I think it could be in response to the $75 family gift but I am just not sure. It's a little complicated to figure out because the letter itself doesn't mention a gift at all and it came about a year after you sent the gift. There was a letter that thanked you for a gift before that, but no photo was attached to that one. Maybe they realized the mistake and attached a photo to a second letter. It really is a little wacky looking :).  I am sending an inquiry to our office in Tanzania. They will work with Khadija's project to find the $75 gift in their records and I will request that they give us a photo of what that gift was in case the one I see is not connected to that gift. It does often take between six and eight weeks for us to receive a reply back from our office there with the result of the inquiry. As soon as we have their reply, we will contact you. Let me know if you have further questions. I appreciate you hanging in there and doing extra research to make sure we figured out where this gift was! v

Faithkitty, I forgot to say that the photo I see attached to one of the letters after you gave the gift was the one I've included below. If you'd like me to resend that letter to you, I would be happy to do so! I am still not sure if this was in response to your $75 family gift or another gift so that inquiry will be sent anyway.

Oh my goodness! I never received this letter or photo! Could you please send it to me? That brings my total to 4 letters not received from her. The others I could access from the app, but not this one! Incidentally, why would she need luggage??

Faithkitty, I have sent an email with the two letters attached to the email. I have also resubmitted the letters to your mailing address as well. What are the other letters that you do not have? We can certainly send these letters to you as well! You are welcome for removing the photos! :) Regarding why she bought luggage, you could ask her why she did in a letter. It is pretty common for children to buy luggage and to use it as storage for clothes if they do not have a dresser. If you do ask in a letter, and she is confused, it could be that it was awhile ago when she did purchase the luggage.

Thanks Madison,
The dates listed on the app (different from the dates written on the letters), are May 27, 2016, Oct. 10, 2016, and Jan. 5, 2018 (!). Incidentally, the Oct. 10, 2016 letter has the photo Sarah posted above, but it is not included in the scanned in letter that I can access from the app! I realized this when you sent me the full letter via email. I recognized the letter, but there was no photo in what I had access to. So strange! I hope nothing has been cut off of the other two scanned-in letters that were not sent to me...

Faithkitty, you are not able to view any letter on your app or My Account that is before April of 2016. That is when we started transitioning our new letter system, and we did not keep the copies of what the letter previous to this date. You would not be able to view any of these letter. I do apologize for this!
