I have been sponsoring my child for almost 5 months now and I have only gotten the general first letter.. nothing else and I have even sent a money gift. Is everything alright?

You should get a thank you letter within 6 months of sending the money gift. But reciprocal letters (letters in reply to things you write) take a little time to get going. If you have not gotten another letter by 6 months after the first one you received, do let them know. But most of the time I've received them.  When did you receive the first letter? (They pre-write it in order to get it into your hands a little quicker. But it is still considered receiving a first letter from the child).   This is not a pen pal relationship. It is more of a mentoring relationship. I like to write letters once a month.Once I receive a letter, I respond to it in the next. When things are flowing well, I get a letter every other month. More commonly, this ends up as 5 letters a year.

I understand this is not a pen pal relationship..... however I have only gotten the one generic thank you for being my sponsor letter as we creep up on the 6 month mark it’s only natural for me to wonder. I write letters each month anyways so he knows he is cared for. My friend also sponsors a child from the same area and receives letters frequently. Thank you for your response!

Hi Ashley! I agree with everything Sarah already said :). It can take some time for a letter relationship to get going, especially when your kiddo is younger and trying to understand the idea of a writing letters to someone living so far away. I do see that we are just under the 5 month mark from the time Alberto's first letter was sent to you. I can see that we have sent stationary to Alberto's center for him to write you a reciprocal letter, which you should actually receive soon. If you haven't received a second letter from him by August 28th, a full 6 months from the time his last letter was delivered to you, please let us know so that we can look into why it is taking so much time for him to send you a letter. He should also mention the sweet gift you sent to him in his next letter. I know it's so difficult to wait for letters to arrive, especially when you are excited to get to know your little guy and you've been writing faithfully to him. Thank you so much for doing so! I am praying that you receive a letter from him very soon but again, please let me know if you do not receive one by August 28th.

Hi Ashley! I'm so sorry you haven't received a letter from Alberto in six months. I am sending an inquiry to his center now, to make sure he's okay and to request he write you a letter. You should be hearing back from us on this soon!
