We're concerned that we have heard nothing from two of our three sponsored children so far this year. Modesta sent frequent letters to us last year, but nothing has come through from her in 8 months, though we have continued to write and to send gifts.

We began our sponsorship of Samika at the end of December, but we have never heard from her. Because of the problems with sponsorship in her country, I can't help but ask questions. Is her child development center still operating? Has she ever received our letters? Or, since our support doesn't reach her, does she simply see no reason to communicate with us?

Hi David! I am so sorry that you haven't heard from two of your three children this year, and I completely understand why that would be discouraging and concerning for you :(. It looks like it is Yadiel who you have heard from this year? I have checked on all three of your children and see that we are processing letters from each of them as we speak. Regrettably, the transition we have been in the middle of to our new letter system has been much more difficult than we originally anticipated. Though children and sponsors have been writing letters, they have been getting backlogged at the country offices where they are processed before they are delivered. We are catching up on this backlog, and you will receive your precious child letters soon! Thank you so much for continuing to encourage all three of your children through this year, despite not hearing back from them. They are getting your letters!

Samika's center is still operating, though we are working through issues in her country. She has been receiving your letters and has written several in return, which are being processed. The situation in India is very sensitive and difficult, so we would be very grateful if you would continue to pray for a resolution!

Sarah, thank you so much for your quick reply, and we will eagerly be looking for those letters. That being said, did we need to reach a crisis point to find out this information? Between e-mail and the postal service, I receive frequent communication from Compassion. A few days ago, we even received one more letter encouraging us to take part in Compassion Sunday 2016 (which was in April). With all of these messages being delivered, could there not be more information that's relevant to our sponsorships? From browsing through these boards, I know I'm not the only sponsor who would have appreciated a quick note saying that there's a delay in exchanging letters.

David, I am sorry that Compassion's communication method regarding this transition has been discouraging for you :(. We are responding to sponsors as they have questions, but many sponsors are seeing their letters take the historical time of 2-3 months to be processed. I will absolutely pass your feedback on the appropriate party though! As for communication regarding India, we are updating sponsors as we are able to, which is currently averaging to every few months. We expect another update to be ready for sponsors in October. With the sensitivity of the situation, we have to be very careful about what is shared.
