I have sponsored a child for about 4 or 5 months. I received one letter that was asking me my name. I have been writing every day for almost 2 months. Most letters I send stickers, pictures, etc. I donated extra money about 3 or 4 months ago for the family to get a Christmas gift. I have been asking what was purchased, but haven't received an answer yet. My child has a birthday coming up and want to donate another gift, but I don't know if she received her Christmas gift yet. What will she get for her birthday? I hope that I can hear from someone. I sometimes feel like I have an imaginary friend. I don't hear anything.

Waiting on letters from our kiddos is a test in patience for sure. It can take up to 4 months for the your letter to reach your child and for their response to get back to you. Mail service in many of our children's areas is spotty at best and add to that the translation process, it takes a bit of time. You should hear within 6 months what your gift was used for. It takes a while to work through all the processes. Your letters make a big impact on your child and given time, you will be able to develop a relationship with your child. I have 2 wonderful sponsor children and many awesome correspondence children; I know it is hard waiting on letters but when you get them it is so exciting and sweet. Hang in there, things and letter frequency will get better.

Hi Deci, Welcome to Compassion!  I see that you have been with us since October of this year. In those two months, you have been an amazing sponsor! Leyli will so appreciate the letters you have written to her and the family gift that you sent in October. You should have received Leyli's introduction letter around mid-December. I see it was logged in our country office in October, as well. It does take two to three months to get your gifts and letters to your sponsored child, then two to three months for you to receive her thank you letters explaining what was purchased with your generous gift. If you have not received a thank you letter for your gift by April, please let us know.
