One of my children left the program and I was assigned a new child

I received a letter in the mail last month that said one of my boys was removed from the program and that I would be assigned a new child if I didn't contact Compassion within 14 days. I called and spoke with a woman for about 20 minutes. She said that she removed the child from my account so that I would not sponsor him. This week I'm doing bills and see that Compassion took more money out of my account this month. Turns out I still have the new child on my account, and I already have a letter on the way from him.
I'm frustrated because I thought I had already taken care of this, but if this new child has already gotten news that he's been sponsored, I don't want to take that away from him. I have loved sponsoring through Compassion and have never experienced anything but great things, but I feel like this was a bit sneaky.
So if this new child has not received news of his sponsorship yet, I still want to take him off. I wanted to sponsor a different child who attends a project that my church partners with so I could meet him during a mission trip. However if he has received the news, I feel obligated to keep him.

Hannah, it looks like the woman you spoke with on the phone neglected to correctly note your account that you would not be sponsoring this new child. You did exactly what you were supposed to do and I sincerely apologize for our error and for the frustration this has caused. I just removed this child from your account. These first letters are written before the child is sponsored so that we can get the introduction out to sponsors as soon as possible. Please let me know if you would like the payment you made for the new child to be refunded or applied towards another child (either your other sponsored child or a new one at the center that your church partners with). Again, we greatly appreciate your partnership and are so sorry for our error on your account.
