Hello, I know that you can send a $60 gift and receive a photo, but I was wondering if I could pay for the cost of the photo and all of the fees and receive one? If that is even possible? Even if it was just emailed to me and not mailed. Just let me know :)

Hi Anna! I certainly understand your desire to have more pictures of your child and your willingness to pay for fees. Regrettably, we do not have a way to process these types of special requests. I want to encourage you that a new photo of your child is taken every two years. I know that it can frustrating to wait this long to receive a new photo and we are rolling out some major upgrades with our systems to improve this. In the future, you can look forward to more photos of your child as we are working towards making the process for sending and receiving letters, much quicker and easier :).

Thanks Emily.

I have a friend who used to take a photo with his birthday cake each year for the record. I thought that was a cool idea! When he was staying in a hostel, he'll buy himself a cake just for the photo.

Hope we'll get a photo each year. Two years is a long wait...

Hi Emily,

I was wondering If you give a family gift or a student center gift will you get a picture of your child's family and a picture of their class?

Hi Cheyanne! That is a great question! The way our gift program works, if you send a gift of $60 or more (birthday, general child gift, or family gift) then you will receive a thank you lettere letting you know what was purchased along with a photo of your child with the gift. For family gifts in particular, whichever family members are present at the time the photo is taken, those family members will be in the picture. This may include the father and mother, siblings, or at least just one of the guardians.

Now for project gifts, you will also receive a thank you letter for these and a photo. But the photo will likely not be of the class but will show you how your gift was used to better the project. For example, I know of one situation in which the sponsor's gift was able to allow the project to build bathroom stalls for their center and they were able to purchase a sturdy door with a lock to make the center more secure! The photos that the sponsor received, showed the newly installed toilets and stalls as well as a picture of the front of the center with the new door.

Hello Emily,

Thank you for answering my question! And sharing the story about the project! Sounds exciting and I want to donate to my sponsor children's student center in the future 

Hello,

I was just wondering how long it normally takes to receive a photo of your child after you've sent at least a $60 gift? I think it's been about 4 months since I sent it, so I figured it would probably have arrived in December sometime.

Hi Caity,

They say it can normally take up to 6 months to receive a reply with photo from the time you sent the gift.  I've only sent a large gift once, and it actually took 6 months to the day in my case.  (But it was well worth the wait!)

Hi Caity Rose! It can take 2-3 months for both gifts and letters to be sent. This means that you will receive your thank you letter and photo within six months of when the gift was sent. If you do not receive the photo within the next 2 months, let us know and we can make sure you receive it.

What if on the same occasion, 30 is given to the child, and 30 is given to the family. Would there be a photo?

Chak, when two $30 gifts are sent at the same time, we do not require our field offices to make sure a photo is included in with the thank you letter. They may or may not include the photo.
