Hi Lori! I sincerely apologize for any information that was not accurately given to you regarding gifts or photos. I would be happy to clarify some of this for you!

We take an updated photo of each child in our program every 18 - 24 months. Because Happyness' was registered in Compassion's program April 2018, that means she will get a new photo taken between September of this year and April of next year. That is when you will receive that updated photo of her.

In regards to gifts, whenever you send a gift between $10 and $20, then your child might send you a thank-you letter for the gift they received, but it is not required. For gifts between $21 and $59, it is required that they send you a thank-you note for the gift you sent, and for any gift above $60, they will also send you a photo! However, since it takes two to three months for the gift to get to your child, and two to three months for their letter to reach you, we ask that you wait six months to receive the thank-you letter. If you do not receive a thank-you letter from Happyness for the Birthday Gift you sent by the end of September, please let us know, and we would be happy to send an inquiry to her center and request that she write you a thank-you letter. :)

Christmas gifts work a little differently than other gifts, however. All Christmas donations are combined and then divided evenly among every child in our program. With this fund, we purchase a meaningful gift specifically for each child and help purchase gifts for children who are not yet sponsored or whose sponsors are not able to give. We do this because we want every child to receive a gift and to be included in a special Christmas celebration at their center. Happyness was still told that her Christmas gift was from you, but you may not receive a thank-you letter for that gift.

Again, I apologize if this was not thoroughly explained to you, and I hope this helps clear up any questions you had! Please let us know if there's anything else we can do for you!
