Hi Dawn! I'm so sorry you misplaced your child's information, and would be happy to re-send you whatever you need. :) Do you need the initial welcome booklet with all of his information, or just his photo?

How do we get updated pics of our child, and do you ever update the info on them? My sponsor child’s info hasn’t changed from the first day we picked her. Also, on my profile it says we have sent ONE gift, and I know that so not accurate.

Lesley: The pictures of your child are updated every two years (I've had it happen as often as 18 months. I just last week got a updated picture for a girl I last saw an update Feb 2018, for example).  The information is updated when they take the updated pictures (though usually appears on the profile AFTER the updated picture does) The gift amount that shows on the app only includes non-Christmas gifts given within the last 12 months. It does not include all gifts given over your sponsorship history.

Within 6 months of the date you send the gift (over $20? Maybe) you should get a thank you with what was purchased with the money.  If you haven't, let the ladies know and they will ask for that letter. If your gift was $60 or more, you'll also get a picture.  Often, for the Christmas gift, I'll just get a thank you for the gift type thank you. But sometimes I get more "A teddy bear" "A backpack" etc.  I sent a $30 birthday gift. It's too little for a photo but I got "Thank you for the gift you sent her: The pants, sweater, and socks"

Hi Lesley! I completely understand your desire to receive more frequent profile and photo updates of your kiddo. Due to the amount of resources available, we are only able to guarantee child updates once every 24-26 months, but we do try to provide updates more frequently when possible. I see that you started sponsoring sweet Felisia in June of 2018. Felisia recently had an update on August 30, 2019. Did you receive her update in the mail yet? We also have access to all of Felisia’s past photos since she has been in the program since June of 2011. Would you like us to send you the high-resolution jpg file of them via email?

Thank you for your generous gifts you’ve given to Felisia! I see that you gave Felisia a birthday gift and you gave a Christmas gift. When you give your child a Christmas gift, this option donates to the Christmas Gift Fund. All Christmas donations are combined and then divided evenly among every child in our program. With this fund, we purchase a meaningful gift specifically for each child and help purchase gifts for children who are not yet sponsored or whose sponsors are not able to give.

Please know that we do this because we want every child to receive a gift and to be included in a special Christmas celebration at their church-based center. What matters the most is that your child will know that the gift they receive is from you - making it even more special. Regrettably, you will not receive a picture for this specific type of gift only. However, most children will thank their sponsor in their next letter, but they are not required to.

You may also give directly to your child by choosing to give a Child Gift, Birthday Gift, or Family Gift. When your child and their family receive this gift, a Compassion staff member will assist them in purchasing a gift for your child. Of course, you may make recommendations on how you would like the money to be used. However, the use of the gift is ultimately up to the family, so if they have an immediate need, they may use the gift to help meet that need. For gifts more than $20, you can expect to receive a thank you letter from your kiddo about six months after the gift is given, letting you know what was purchased. As Sarah said, if the gift amount is $60 or more, you will also receive a photo of what was purchased. Since your birthday gift to Felisia was $20, we cannot guarantee that you’ll receive a thank you letter. We encourage children to always thank their supporters for gifts of $20 or less, but they are not required to. Therefore, they may forget to mention the gift in their next regularly scheduled letter. Please know that this doesn’t meant that your child isn’t grateful. I assure you that Felisia was greatly blessed and thankful for your gift!

I hope all this information has been helpful! If you have any additional specific questions, we would be happy to help you via email at socialmedia@compassion.com. Have a blessed day!
