I not only sponsor a child from Compassion, I also sponsor a child from World Vision. Although I get letters from my 2 children, the one from Compassion is very vague. They don't answer the questions I have asked and when they do I receive the same letter again, with the same information on the next letter. Funny thing is that I don't need translation because I write my letters in Spanish. I have never received an updated picture of my child but I do get a lovely picture from my child at WV with all her gifts she's been able to purchase and she is still not at a writing age. I am a bit disappointed in the process. I would like to receive real information of my child, with questions answered so there is a consistent dialogue going, not just a generic letter that doesn't say much. A picture would be nice to. Thank you,

Frances (Linet-DR045000928)

Frances, I am so sorry for the frustration and disappointment in regards to Linet's letters to you. I cannot speak for World Vision and I know that our programs are very different, but I am so sorry that your experience with Compassion has not been to your satisfaction. I hope to work to improve that and earn back your trust.

For now, we process full child information and photo updates every two years. You may be aware that we are in the process of updating our systems and hope to shorten this time considerably and provide more frequent updates in the near future, but right now it is at two years. It looks like Linet's information was actually just updated in January 2017. I am sending you her most recent photo via email so that you will have it. We also send photos for gifts of $60 or more.

I can see that you write wonderful and loving letters to Linet in Spanish and frequently. Thank you so so much for cherishing Linet and her family in this way. It is difficult to adequately express how much these letters mean to the children. I can assure you that they not only bring a smile to her face but the encouragement helps to give her the confidence she needs to face the incredible challenges of poverty. We are so grateful for your partnership in loving and supporting this precious little girl.

I know that Linet is only five and she likely is not writing the letters on her own yet. That said, she should be responding to the questions and information that you have included in your letters to her. I have sent an inquiry to ask Linet's tutors to pay extra attention to the questions and information that you include in your letters so that they can make sure and help her to respond to these things in her letters to you. I will be monitoring this and sincerely hope that her letters will improve over time. Please do let us know if there is any other way that we could better serve you as a valued supporter.

I really appreciate your quick response. I know it makes Linet happy when she receives my letters and pictures so you can imagine how blessed I feel to be able to help her and know how she is doing. With letters and pictures this makes all the difference, it helps us both connect to each other. I will continue to write her letters and pray that the communication between us improve in the near future. Thank you.

As a sponsor I have experience with both WV and Compassion, and though my personal sponsorships are all with Compassion by now that wasn't always the case and I still write to my parents WV kids.  I just want to say that both organizations are very different as far as how the sponsorships work, but letter writing ability varies from child to child in both, I guess the same as it would if you walked into a classroom here and asked all the kids to write a letter.  I've definitely had some WV kids write more than others and some less, and the same with Compassion.
