While chatting with one of the staffs at Compassion today, I was told that pop up cards or musical pop up cards are not allowed to send. I was never informed about this. So, I asked if my musical pop up card(dated 7/15) was sent or not. I was told it is impossible to check and will not be able to request an inquiry to Ethiopia field office whether the card has been delivered to my child or not.

This is very upset to hear that the card may have been discarded. I spent hours of writing a letter on my musical pop up card having no doubt that it will be delivered to my child. I think I have the right to know if this card has been delivered or discarded.

I am very upset and disappointed at Compassion International now.

Jenny, I sincerely apologize for the confusion. The representative you chatted with gave you incorrect information. We can send musical cards and pop up cards. If there is writing on them, we will scan them first so that they can be translated and then we will physically mail the cards.

Thank you. The other day, I was told from another representative that musical cards are not scanned and not translated. The representative said she put a complaint in mail room that musical cards should not be scanned. So, for Christmas musical cards, I pasted the letter behind the card to sen an original. I also scanned and submitted online too to make sure it is translated. Is it not necessary to submit online for translation if I paste a letter behind the musical card?

No, Jenny, you do not need to submit the letter online if you write in the card or on the back of it. We will scan it in order to get your precious letter translated and sent to the child. The physical card will also be mailed :).

Jenny, so that I can check on the status of the card you sent, did you mail it on the 15 July?

I mailed it on June 29th USPS priority mail. It is showing on my account on July 15th.

Hi Jenny! I checked in our system, finding that this card was delivered to Wogayehu physically. I am sure he loved receiving it from you :)! Again, we sincerely apologize for the confusion and incorrect information that you were given. I hope we've been able to clear it up for you!

I was told that cards that pop up but do not play music can't be sent physically and would be scanned. Is this true?

I apologize for the confusion. Sally is right. We send popup cards physically as long as there is not any writing on them that needs to be translated. Only items that are scanned will be translated. Would you please let us know where you were told that pop up cards would be scanned? I just want to make sure everyone is on the same page. Thanks!

The last cards I sent out (I think it was late Oct or early Nov) have just recently posted to my account as sent. I usually include a separate note and that note as well as the envelope has been scanned and shows up on my account. For 2 of the 3 kids I sent cards to. So if you keep an eye on your account, you will likely see something that will indicate your kiddos received them.

How do you see whether it says the cards have been delivered to your children? I also sent my card in the end of September. My cards were scanned and shown in my account on 10/27. And I was able to click "View" to see what was scanned, but I cannot see the status of this card whether it was delivered to my child or if the translation has been done. Where can you see these status?

I believe when they show up on your account they have been sent. At this point, I don't think we can tell when the child actually receives them, but at least we can tell they were received in Colorado and forwarded on. Most of my letters do not show "in translation" any more d/t the issues with the new system. Although I have noticed my little girl in Rwanda's letters are showing as being "in translation," but that is the only country for me.
