My husband and I intended to make a donation of $1500.   The money was to be paid up front and then disbursed in the following way:

$608 for Mary Anne for her sponsorship until she ages out of the program on 10/1/2019

(2) $30 for birthday gifts to be given 8/12/2018 & 2019

$100 for a family gift to be given on January 12, 2019

(2) $20 Christmas gifts

$492 to be given to Mary Anne's Center for the benefit of the community and the children who attend.  Her center is Project Ke-922

In looking at our account, it appears that we have been set up for a monthly donation and that the $492 has been paid, but we are unsure where.

We wanted to prepay this gift.  The lovely ladies I spoke to may have misunderstood my intent.  It is a little complicated.

My husband and I love Compassion and, God willing, may be able to make other donations in this manner in the future.  We also sponsor two other children.

Hi Donna! It sounds like there may have been some confusion with the representative when you spoke on the phone like you mentioned. Regrettably, we aren't able to have gifts prepaid for and then held until the time they are to be dispersed to the child. If a gift donation is made, it is processed and dispersed immediately. What the representative ended up doing was setting up future donations to pull on the dates that you asked them to be given on. Your sponsorship is currently set up on a monthly withdrawal, but it sounds like you wanted to pay $608 to cover her through October 2019 when she should be graduating. If that is correct, I can actually do that for you.

Hi Donna! I have processed a one time contribution of $608 for Wairimu. This will cover her support through her estimated date of completion. I apologize for any confusion. Thank you so much for all that do for Compassion and the children in our programs. We are very grateful for your support. :-)

Yes, the $492 that you gave has been sent as a gift for the project that Wairimu attends. I am sure that they will be very grateful and blessed by your generous gift! Thank you again!

Hi,  Thank you so much for your help.  Do I need to send the gifts later or will they automatically be pulled on the dates that were discussed with the representative?

As a suggestion for older kids who are sometimes harder to find sponsors for, offering a "package" with a one time gift would be a good idea.  It allows someone the joy of sponsorship, knowing it is paid up front should the sponsors income change.  It also provides security for the sponsored child.  My husband and I are retired and don't feel comfortable committing to a young child. I am sure that we are not the only ones in this situation who would like to sponsor a child.

Thank you again for your help.  I really appreciate it.

Donna,

Each of the gift payments have been setup to be automatically withdrawn on the dates you discussed with the representative over the phone. You do not need to send these gifts later.

It is so wonderful that you have the kind heart and the means to provide for this child in this way. Thank you so much! We will certainly consider the option you mentioned for the future. You are right that this would be a good option for some sponsors.
