I am writing this question because I have read on Compassion's blog that if you send a gift over $60 you will receive a picture of our child with what they bought using the money. 6 months ago I sent a gift over $200, and just received a letter last month with no picture attached, and no mention of the monetary gift. I am concerned perhaps the money may have been stolen or something by one of the center's workers? Should I be concerned? Will I eventually receive a picture or is it false that if you send a gift over $60 that you receive a picture?

Hi Steff! Thank you so much for blessing Etienne's family with a significant family gift. I know that will be a wonderful blessing for them to receive! Yes, you are supposed to receive a thank you letter and photo of the purchased gift when it is over $60. I don't want you to be worried just yet. The family did receive the gift, but it can take about six months from the time you gave the gift for you to receive the reply. Officially, the gift wasn't given until April 12, which means we still have time for a letter to come in before the official six month mark hits. Also, if that date passes and you haven't received a letter, I will send an inquiry to see what the situation is and why you haven't received the letter yet. We will get you that letter and photo of what the family was able to purchase! Because letters have taken between 2-3 months to get from Burkina Faso to the United States, that letter was probably written before Etienne even received your gift :). I've got a calendar alert set to check for a letter in your account on April 12. I'll let you know on that day if there is a letter or if I send an inquiry.

I sent a gift to my sponsored girl in Burkina Faso & also to girls in Tanzania, Ethiopia and Equador in early October, 2015, and have yet to receive confirmation or acknowledgment from any of them, so I'm guessing it takes at least the 6 months and apparently can take longer.  Hang in there................I'm in the same boat!

I'm having a similar experience -- glad to hear it's not just me. Perhaps the transition to the new system is making it hard to get other things like this done.
