I was told that my child Welinton has 2 brothers and sisters. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to know this but are his brothers and sisters part of the compassion project and do they have sponsors? I was also curious as to wether Welinton has had a sponsor previous to myself.

Malissa, Welinton does indeed have siblings, but none of them are in the program. This is pretty typical of the families who have children enrolled in Compassion's program. In order to serve as many families in the community as possible, Compassion staff at the church usually enroll only one child per household unless they determine the family is in need of having a second child enrolled. Even though his siblings are not in the program, your sponsorship is actually beneficial to his entire family because of the support they receive from the church and program staff and the lessons that Welinton brings home from the project :). Welington did have a previous sponsor before you started with him.

I had read about the one child thing previously. I will keep his siblings in mind when making family gifts in the future. I asked about his siblings one of my first letters (I’ve only had him for a month), so hopefully he will tell me about them, names and ages but for now I at least know I’m praying for his 2 brothers and 2 sisters as well as his father and guardian. I’m already so in love with his sweet picture and cannot wait to hear from him and possibly visit him one day and watch him grow into the fine young man I know he will be! Thanks for all you and compassion do for children all over the world! I’m so lucky to have the opportunity to sponsor him.

Is there any information I am allowed to have about his previous sponsorship? Did he get letters and how long did it last?

Hi Malissa! Welinton was sponsored for two years by his previous sponsor. Regrettably, he never received a letter from them though, nor did he receive gifts. That's all the information I am able to share with you regarding his last sponsorship but I hope it helps!

That breaks my heart! Well he won’t have the same experience this time. I’ve written a few letters, and sent a Christmas gift. Ive researched where he lives and found out which big holidays his country celebrates and starting Jan 1 I’m putting back a little here and there when I can to visit him. My son even drew him a picture that says Bradley loves Welinton! Even though he’s 5 he has remembered to include Welinton in his prayers.
