I have recently been considering sponsoring a second child, and have been looking at the children waiting for a sponsor and have been a little confused. Why do some children dissapear from the website, and then reappear a little later? It also seemed like quite a few new children appeared on the website who were all red heart children, why does this happen? I was also wondering how frequently children are added to the website? It seems that there are usually multiple children from the same center, but none from others. Could someone explain this process?

Great questions Steph!

When a child disappears and reappears on our website, it means that another person is considering sponsoring that child. When you click "Sponsor this Child," the child is no longer available to ensure that another person does not choose the same child. If the person decides not to sponsor the child, they are added back to the available children list on our website.

A child that has a red heart in their picture has been waiting for 6 or more months for a sponsor. Since children tend to be sponsored more quickly on our website, we will add as many "red heart" children as we can so that those children can be sponsored.

Children are added to our website once a week- mostly on Tuesdays. The team in charge of this process will try to add children from countries that seem to have a low number on the website or more girls/boys, as needed. We try to choose children from different projects, but we always choose the longest waiting first. These are sometimes in the same project, resulting in many children from one project being placed on our website at one time.
