Hello, and happy Monday! It occured to me over the weekend that one of my correspondent girls (Josseling in NI) is having her quinceañera in February and I'd like to send her something special for it (aka, $$) but I wanted to double check and see if her financial sponsor had already sent anything down there. I got her gift history back when I was first paired with her, and while I know for sure that there have been monetary gifts sent in the past, I can't recall their consistancy or  if she's remained with the same sponsor or possibly has a newer one who isn't the one who sent the previous gifts.
In relation to this, if her financial sponsor and I do end up both sending her a birthday gift, how is that handled in terms of telling the child about the gifts? Is it confusing for $$ to be coming from 2 people?
Thanks!

Hi Lindsay! Thank you so much for wanting to help make Josseling's quinceañera a special one :). Our records indicate that her financial sponsor sent her a birthday gift back in May but none since. The project staff help communicate it to her in a way she will understand. Some children may know that they have a financial sponsor and a correspondent but some children only know their correspondent as their sponsor. If gifts are sent from both her financial sponsor and from you, most likely she will be told it is from you because you're the one building a relationship with her. Because the gifts are often sent at different times in these situations, she will just receive two birthday gifts throughout the year such as in this circumstance.

Thanks, Emily! I'll call tomorrow and arrange to have a monetary gift sent to her.

Also, it would be the same financial sponsor all along, since if the first financial sponsor dropped the child you'd have to take over the financial part or lose the child, so you'd def. know if that happened.  Always sad when it happens for sure.

Not necessarily. My question was aimed more towards the possible scenario of say my girl getting gifts from 2010-2012, then getting a different sponsor who hasn't been giving her anything. I know she's had the same sponsor since I've had her, but that's been all of a few months.
