I recently got a letter notifying me that the center of one of my sponsored kids in Mexico is suspended while some issues are worked out. Will my boy who attends still receive mail during this time? This may be a moot point because anything I mail now will get there after the review so the center will either be up and running again or presumably be closed.

Hi Lindsay! Because each student center must provide their own staff and some of their own funding, during a suspension period in which we are providing additional training and monitoring to a center, some programming continues. In some cases, letters and gifts continue to be distributed and in others they are not. However, in your child's case, it looks like ME121 is continuing to distribute letters and gifts during this time. This means that you are more than welcome to send letters. I'm sure he would love to hear from you and could use the encouragement!

It's me again :( I got a letter last night notifying me that my sponsored girl Ashly's center (PH655) is currently on probation and I wanted to check and see if this was a situation similar to Jose's above where she will still be receiving mail. Also, due to the fact that I'm so freakin' broke right now (travel mixed with essentially 6 months of no income don't mix well, I've found) I'd like to please suspend my monthly fees for her until the situation is worked out. I'm still digging out my account out from the medical misadventures of last year. Thanks!

Hey Lindsay. I am so sorry that you have another child going through a project suspension :(. I know it can feel discouraging, but we are often able to rectify the issues and return the centers to their normal operation statuses. Ashly will still be able to receive your gifts and letters during this time, which I know will be an even bigger encouragement for her during this time. I have taken care of her support for three months since that is the time we are estimating it will take for us to work through the issues with the center.

Thanks, Sarah! In a way I'm glad it happens because it serves as evidence what a tremendous job Compassion and the projects take to ensure security and proper use of the funds.
