I'd like to cancel my sponsorship, mostly because I don't see the worth. I understand that the money is helping my sponsor child, but I've been sponsoring her for over a year and I've heard absolutely nothing from her, even though I've sent multiple letters. You guys keep promising that I'll get something so that I can feel a connection with my sponsor child, but it doesn't happen and instead you just ask for more money. I'm a giving person, and it hurts me to pull out like this, but I'm no longer happily giving money. It's become a chore. Hopefully my child's next sponsor will hear from her like I never did and that that person stays her sponsor.

Leah, thank you for contacting Compassion with your concerns. It breaks my heart to hear that your experience with sponsorship has been less than our best. I am deeply sorry that you have not heard from your sweet girl, Zawadi, since you began sponsoring her in April of 2016, and I am so sorry to hear that you would like to end your sponsorship now because of your experience.

Please know that we are so grateful that you responded to God tugging at your heart to sponsor Zawadi. I hear your heart for this ministry and your desire to foster a relationship with your sweet girl. Please know that our desire is for every sponsor to have this opportunity to develop a meaningful relationship with their child. I’m so sorry that you have not received her letters to you in the mail due to your letter delivery preference being the physical original document. Regrettably, we are sending less physical mailings of original letters, and this is why you have not received them in the mail yet :(. I do see that Zawadi sent you a letter in September of 2016 and December of 2016. I have requested to have these letters emailed to you so you may read them if you like. They are also available on your online My Account. Although Zawadi has written you two letters, it has indeed been a while since you have received a letter from her :(. Because of this, I have sent an inquiry to our field office in Kenya. Our wonderful field staff in Kenya will ensure that Zawadi is doing well, and they will ask her to write a letter to you. We will receive a response from them within 6-8 weeks.

If you would be so kind as to allow us the opportunity to wait for this resolution, we would love the opportunity to help you. We would also be happy to cover three months of support for you, so you would not need to provide sponsorship until we receive a response from our field office. This would be our gift to you. However, if you would like to proceed with canceling your sponsorship instead, please reply to this message with this instruction, and your request will be honored. I cannot express how sorry I am to hear of your experience. We sincerely look forward to earning your trust and proving our hearts for serving our sponsors and children with excellence. I look forward to your reply.
