I have been reading where some sponsors ask for more information on their child and you say in your reply that you have sent it to them. Is this information more than just the name of the student center, area where they live and name and age? If so, is it possible for me to get information on my two sponsored children? I have sponsored one child for almost ten years and don't even know if she has siblings. She never answers my questions and her letters are all the same.

Lisa, I have noticed that online it doesn't give that information on siblings!  Now days it is in the packet that Compassion sends out to the sponsors.  It is the info that is online when you look at kids on the website.  Like you I have been sponsoring for over ten years and I don't know if the number of siblings was stated in the old style form Compassion used to send. Since you have sponsored for so long I would call the 800 number and ask.  Just a side note, I rather prefer to sponsor in English speaking countries because of the language barrier in other countries it does seem harder to get questions answered.   Do you mind if I ask where you sponsor?

Sure Denise, the child I have sponsored that I'm talking about is from Rawanda. I sponsor another from the Dominican Republic but that only just started a month ago. She replaced a child from Indonesia that turned 18 and left the program to begin working. I had her for several years, and like the child from Rawanda, she didn't really share much or answer many questions either.

Lisa, I found that true of my graduate in Rwanda.  She didn't answer my questions but I am sure the situation will improve in Rwanda because Rwanda made English the National Language (yay!).  Eventually I will try there again.   Sometimes talking about serious issues that older teens and young adults are interested in helps them to open up.  An older girl that I sponsored for her last three years in ET really opened up to me when I started talking to her about marriage.  Do you write your letters online on the "My Account" section of Compassion?  Also, are you a member of Facebook?  Could I somehow friend you on Facebook for a more private conversation?  Sorry I don't have a picture on here but I do on my Facebook account.  We both have pretty common names so it may not be easy to find each other on Facebook.

Hi Lisa, I have emailed you biography's on both Esmeralda and Batamuriza which also states whether they have siblings and if they are in Compassion's program. I also see that Susan addressed your concerns about the letters you have received in the past, here: https://support.compassion.com/compassion/topics/why_doesnt_my_child_answer_my_questions. I hope that these tips help with the letters you write back and forth to your children in the future! I know it can be frustrating not receiving responses to questions you ask. Please know that we greatly appreciate your commitment to these children and the love that you are feeding into each of them. Please let me know if I can help you further.

Lisa, I figured out how to load my picture.  That isn't my profile picture on Facebook, it is my background picture.  If you are on Facebook there is a closed group on there called:

Compassion Sponsors/Correspondents Facebook Forum and I will try putting the link below:

You could request to join the group.

Denise, is that Facebook group still active? I've been trying to access it but instead of getting a message to contact someone about joining I get an error message saying the page doesn't exist.
