When I send additional money to my sponsored children or their families how is it sent? Do they receive cash? Who counsels them on purchasing with it?

Hi Linda,

When you send your child a financial gift, it will be sent to the project they attend and project staff will meet with the child and their family to determine how to use the gift.  You are welcome to suggest something for the child to buy, such as a soccer ball or new shoes, but if there is a more pressing need that will be purchased instead.  Once the family and Compassion staff and decided what to buy, they will go shopping together to purchase the items.  Compassion never just hands cash to the families, but ensures it will be used for the wellbeing of the child/family.  Most of my kids have used gift money to buy clothes/shoes or animals like chickens/goats.
