I know that I asked this several months ago and got an answer (I believe on Facebook) but now I can't find the post. Could someone refresh my memory about whether or not the twin sister, Magali, of my sponsored girl, Magavi, is being sent regular correspondence and such from her sponsor? I know it's been noted on the account that I would pick her up if ever her sponsor should stop but with my letters now, I'd try to be encouraging to the whole family especially if the other twin isn't receiving as much...if that makes sense.

Hey Lindsay! Your question and desire to bless Magavi's entire family definitely makes sense! Magali's sponsor doesn't write to her very often, but the sponsor has written one per year for the last two years. That is at least better than never writing! You can always encourage the entire family though. I do that with many of my own kids too :).

I have the same question.  I just found out that my child Anuchit's twin brother is also part of the Compassion program.  Does his brother's sponsor write to him regularly?  I'd like to be able to include some extras from time to time for him if not.

Good morning, Jamie! Anuchit's twin brother, Anuchai, is currently being sponsored, praise God! Regrettably, he's been sponsored since 2012 and has never received a letter. I can imagine there might be some jealousy in his home when his brother gets letters and he doesn't. My guess though, is that Anuchit is very good about sharing all of the letters and goodies he receives from you, with his brother :). But I bet a note of encouragement from you would mean so much to him! Thank you for being so thoughtful!

I had no idea that we could even ask that question. My sponsored child, Janelle, has two siblings. Both are in the program. One of them was just recently sponsored by a friend of mine, praise God! I will be making sure he gets letters ;). But does the older brother, Prinche Johnny, receive letters from his sponsor?

Hi Erik! Regrettably, I wasn't able to find Prinche Johnny in our system. If he isn't registered with that name or has a different last name than Janelle, that could be why I wasn't able to find him :(.

Maybe it's supposed to be Prince? Is it possible someone misspelt it? It would make since for the oldest two children to Be Prince and Princess. Whatever the case, that you for trying!

Erik, the only other child that I was able to find with a last name of Espera at the center is named John Mark. We actually do not have any children in the Philippines by the name of Prinche. While there are three Princesses at the center there are no children named either Prince or Johnny. Regrettably, Princess' file does not include information about siblings in the program.

What about other kids I met on my sponsor tour? There was one girl from PH907 named Shania P Demape (she gave me a drawing with her name on it) who followed me around all day and we developed a bond. I hope her sponsor writes her but if not is there any way to be a correspondent?

Erik, Shania's sponsor is through our UK office, which means I don't have access to see if he or she is writing to her. Based on the number of letters Shania wrote last year, I do think she has received letters from the sponsor though.

Actually, it turns out I had the wrong name. The child I met was Shelah Mae Estello. PH9071255. There's a note on her account saying that I will sponsor her if she ever loses her sponsor now thanks to my trip leader. But is it possible to know if she is receiving letters?

Regrettably, Erik, I'm unable to see letters that the sponsor sends to this child because they support Shelah through one of our partner countries and we do not have access to these sponsors' accounts. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Sarah!  Could you please find this out for me about IO9670295 Agatha Tiarasani (she goes by Tiara) her brother is my Antonius Christiawan, you wont see him on my account because he is on my Canadian account instead of my US one, but his sister is sponsored through the USA, so I'm hoping you can still let me know about his sister anyways.

Would you be able to tell me if Sudarat's brother and Ord's sister receive letters from their sponsors? Also, could you make a note on the account of a little girl named Damisa (TH-820-0160) to notify me if she ever looses her sponsor. She is Sudarat's best friend and neighbor. If she ever looses her sponsor, I would like to try to pick her up if I am financially able at the time, or at least be able to try to find her a sponsor if I can't afford to pick her up myself.

Jennifer, I am sending you an email with this information on Sudarat and Ord's family. I also made a note on Damisa's account that you would like to take over sponsorship or at least try to find a sponsor for her should her current sponsor ever cancel.

Hi CI Angels! My Lucky's best friend is Elias who also attends UG227 with Lucky. Many of Lucky's letters will include greetings to me from Elias, and in return I will tell Lucky to tell Elias hello and I am praying for him. Can you please tell me if Elias's sponsor writes to him? I am wondering if he is not receiving letters so Lucky shares my letters with him to help him. If Elias is not receiving letters, I definitely want to write to him much more than a "hello" through Lucky. Thank you!

Hi Keeli! There are two thirteen year old boys named Elias at UG227 and both of them are currently sponsored. One is sponsored through Compassion Canada so I cannot look at his letter history. However, the other is sponsored through the US and has not received any letters from his sponsor. Regrettably, we are not able to set you up as his correspondent but you are welcome to continue sending letters through Lucky. In addition, we are putting together a program now that is called the Encourager program. Through this program, you will be able to send one letter to a child who has not received a letter in the last six months whether they are sponsored or not. I guess what I am trying to say is that you may be able to send him one Encourager letter through the website in the future. Stay tuned!

Susan, just in case you didn't know... you are amazing at what you do! Thanks so much for the info! I appreciate you looking up sweet Elias.  I have a gut feeling he is the one sponsored through the US so I will definitely write more to him through Lucky. If he's an important part of Lucky's life, he's an important part of mine.

How awesome! I love the idea of the  Encourager program!

I'm excited about the upcoming Encourager program and I'm glad Compassion thought to include unsponsored children in these efforts also. I had thoughts of asking to be put on the Correspondent list but when I realized that if the financial sponsor stopped, the Correspondent sponsorship did too, I decided against it. I'm interested to see how this Encourager program will work. If it's just a matter of sending one letter to a child who otherwise would receive nothing, I would like to be a part of this as well.

Will the encourager program be in addition to the correspondent program.  Meaning will the efforts to find out if the sponsors want to allow a correspondent to be assigned to a child if the sponsor can not write continue to be a priority? I just want to say that Compassion continues to show how they care about the children in the program.  To run both the correspondent program and now to develop a new encourager program to make sure that the children are receiving encouraging letters is a testament to the love that you show for the children in your program.

Hi Deb! Last week, we started a campaign to ask sponsors who have not written in twenty-four months whether they would like a correspondent assigned. This means that, yes, letter writting and the correspondent program is still a huge priority for Compassion. The encourager program is still being worked on and the details are not concrete just yet. Right now, the plan is to have the encourager program in addition to the correspondent program.

Susan could you tell me if TH77100337 Paweenoot Jantarasena has received any letters in the last 24 months.

I hope the two letters I sent her last summer won't disqualify her sponsor from being asked if they would like a correspondent. I had her for a VERY short time and then lost her in the mix-up. There should be a note that I want her back as a correspondent if the sponsor okays that.

Maayan, she only received the two letters you sent to her last summer. I am checking on how we are handling the appeal for financial sponsors who have not written their children in the last 24 months to see if we are taking into account who sent the last letter. I'll let you know what I find out! I sure hope she isn't disqualified!

Maayan, I am so sorry but it was not possible for us to include those children who were written to as a result of the correspondent assignment error. Our system just pulls children who have not received a letter in the last 24 months. Paweenoot would not be included in this appeal. :( However, I have made a note that if her sponsor ever requests a correspondent to assign her to you.

That's too bad.

Could she be included in the new encourager program when that rolls out? Would I be able to be assigned to her as part of that program? Writing every six months would be better than nothing.

Wow, from what you wrote here it sounds like we will be able to select the children we want to encourage similar to selecting someone to sponsor. That's awesome!

I'm imagining that it will be a one off thing where we pick someone to write to and sent them a letter but they won't stay on our account after that. If they didn't get a letter from a sponsor or an assigned correspondent in the next six months, I'm guessing they would appear on the website for us to choose again.

If that is how it will go I will certainly participate!  If they will stay on our account for us to write the same child every six months, I would still participate but choose less kids so I don't overwhelm myself, but if it is a one off thing that I can do whenever I have time, I can see me writing words of encouragement to lots of kids! I think everyone in our Facebook groups will do it too. I love this idea! LOTS of kids will be getting letters! This is great! I look forward to being involved in this.

Maayan, yes, it would be like a one off thing and very similar to selecting a child to sponsor on the website. The only difference is that it will be just one letter and not an ongoing commitment.

Susan, if a child gets one of these letters and then doesn't receive any more for another 6 months, will they be eligible for another one (from a different correspondent) or can each child only get one ever?
Also, can each sponsor choose only one to write their one-time letter to? Or can they choose several kids to write a letter to?
Will only kids who are linked to the USA branch of COmpassion be eligible or all country branches?  If USA only, would someone like myself be able to write the child through my USA account, even though I'm in Canada? Or will only Americans be eligible to write?
But maybe some of this stuff hasn't been decided yet even? lol!

Teresa these details are still being discussed and so I cannot guarantee this but I imagine that whenever a child goes six months without a letter, they'll be eligible to receive another letter even if they've received a note from a correspondent before. You will be able to write to more than one child :). I'm not sure yet if you'll be able to write/select more than one child at a time, however.

Again, this program is still in the works and very much still being discussed as all details are not yet worked out. I'm not sure if all country branches will choose to do this. Currently, this is just something Compassion USA is discussing right now. Because you have an account with Compassion USA, you would be able to participate.

Thanks Emily!!!  I really appreciate your response :) I figured as much about it not being set in stone, yet, but was just curious about what it might look like :) I'm so happy that I'd be able to participate!!!!  I hope all the countries get on board one day so that every kid can get a letter a couple times a year :)

Hi, all.  Could you please put a note on Ploy's (TH2760624) account that Rheannen (3671592) would like to be reassigned as her correspondent if one is ever requested.  The same for Sorn (TH4179013), Fernando (HO2500079), Adonay (HO2500264), and Daniela (NI1910339) for me (3614031) and Eric BR4170640 for Robby (3643871) if they are ever requested to have correspondents.  These are the kiddos we lost in the mix up and would like to have a chance to write again if possible.  Thanks and God Bless!

Emily, unfortunately, we cannot add a note to Dora's sponsors account because she is being supported by someone through Compassion Korea and I don't have access to their account :(. This actually might be why we cannot see any letters have been sent to her so my hope is that her sponsors are writing! I do apologize for the inconvenience but I know she'll be so encouraged by your kind notes!

It actually depends on your child's project.

The Compassion rule is 1-3 kids but each project can make up their own mind in that limit.  If a community is mainly "rich" but there are some very very poor families in it, they might allow 3 kids per family in that area to help those families more.  If a community is really poor and most families are poor, they more likely will say 1 child to help more families.  So it could be 1 in your child's family is allowed but it is up to 3 universally.  (And there are exceptions even to that rule for extreme cases such as multiple births.  For example: I have twice seen quadruplets on the site, so obviously in that case they let all 4 children be sponsored.)

Hey Caralee! Daniela and Maily's siblings are actually in the program as well! Daniela's brother, Kevin, is sponsored by someone in Canada, while Maily's brothers, Bryan and Fredy, are sponsored by people in the United States and UK. Looks like Domenica now has a sister but she is not in the program. Like Teresa mentioned, Compassion does allow up to three children per family in the program, but most families only have one child enrolled. This allows our churches to make an impact on as many families in the community as possible.

If she's old enough and the project allows siblings, I know projects in the past have registered kids that weren't in the program because someone specifically wanted to sponsor that child.  If they know they have a sponsor lined up it might be an option for her to become registered :) (Compassion would have to look into that for you of course though, but I know it's been done before :) )
