Something isn’t adding up. Our sponsored boy sent a letter that he received his diploma and had a part time job (about 2 months ago.). Just got another letter that he is “promoted to S3”. We need to stop our automatic withdrawals if he has graduated.. 0283221

Barb,

I am very sorry for the confusion and concern regarding your sponsored boy. Regrettably, I was unable to locate your account by your email address and the number you gave does not match any Compassion accounts. Please reply with your child's full name or child number so that we can further assist you.

Once we are able to review your account, we would be happy to give you more specific information on your child and when he is anticipated to complete. When children complete our program, we immediately stop your automatic withdrawal and will notify you of the change as soon as possible. The exact date that your child will complete depends on their achievement of the program goals and the relevant programs in their area. Generally, we want to support children in at least completing their primary school education as well as some vocational training or university education. It sounds like he is still in school, and in most areas, he would be able to stay in the program until age 22. He would need to be able to continue to attend and meet the program requirements to continue in the program, and regrettably many children are not able to keep up with the requirements while working. If he has left our program, we would immediately stop your automatic withdrawal and notify you.

The letter marked “final” looks like it should have gone to someone else, now that I am looking more closely. I think there was an error in translation. Is there no way for me to talk to a person to sort this out. Even more frustrated today

Barb, I do  see the final letter in our system and it does sound like the child this letter was written by is graduating from Compassion's program. I don't see any official information in our system that shows it is your boy who has graduated though. From the final letter, it looks like different sponsors are addressed other than you and Dan so I will be sending an inquiry to our office in Rwanda to check on your child's status. We should receive the reply from them within the next six to eight weeks. Again, I am so sorry that this happened! We will get this situation figured out for you as soon as possible.

The other concern is I sent a note and donation for a graduation gift. Not sure if our child got that note and thought I was very mixed up.....

Barb, was this the $30 gift you sent in November? I am sure that if we find out this letter was sent to you mistakenly, your child will absolutely understand! You can always follow up with him with a note to simply explain what happened and that you are just happy to continue sponsorship if we receive word back that it was a mistake :).

Yes, that was it. I also hope the correct sponsors can get the letter with news of such a great accomplishment
