A recent "Medical Checkup" letter from one of our Bolivia children stated in Spanish that he has "Savallen", and the English translation was the same. I can't find this word in the Spanish dictionary or translation tools online.  Does anyone know what Savallen is? Thanks.

George, that is not a valid Spanish word. He could have misspelled a word, or ran two words together. But, it doesn't look like the latter. What was the context of his response?

Hi Garry - thanks for trying to help. The context is that within the form letter called Medical Checkup, there was a statement that said "At my checkup my doctor/nurse said I have" (printed in form letter) ... Savallen (handwritten by tutor).  Compassion even "translated" the handwriting tutor Spanish into English but only repeated Savallen, so I am left wondering how serious this is for our sponsored child. His photo looks healthy. I guess that unless Compassion has better access to his health records and is monitoring this forum, I'll just wait for the next letter and pray there is no further mention. Thanks again.

Sounds good. You might ask him for clarification in your next letter.

Hi George! I am so happy that your sweet boys, Angel and Miguel, are healthy! However, I'm so sorry to hear that Carlos may have something that required some medicine :(. Please rest assured that your sponsorship ensures that Carlos receives all of the health care that he needs, and he is being well taken care of. I'm so sorry for this confusing word "Savallen". I completely understand your desire to know what Carlos had and how he has been cared for. Please know that I have just sent an inquiry to our field office in Bolivia. Our wonderful field staff there will look into this letter and Carlos' recent medical check up to find out what Carlos had and how he was taken care of. We will be in contact with you as soon as we receive a response within 6-8 weeks. Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention, and we appreciate your patience while we wait to hear back from our field office in Bolivia.

Thanks, Christina.  It's probably of little consequence and I know these things take time.  I'll ask him on the postcard Compassion sent with the photos.
