Our sponsored young lady in Ethiopia, age 21, wrote me that she will be starting at university. Is there a possibility we would continue to sponsor her through youth development while she attends university and after reaching 22 in 7 months?

Linda, I hear your heart to help your beautiful young lady, Melat, continue her education through university. Regrettably, students may only stay in the Compassion program through age 22, so you will not be able to continue sponsoring her through Compassion after she has completed the program. We do our very best to help prepare students to be self-reliant so they may continue their studies without the help from Compassion and their sponsor. It is our goal to ensure each child is successful, responsible, and self-reliant by the time they graduate from the Compassion program. The Youth Development fund is truly a wonderful fund that helps with vocational training, university, and micro-loans, and your donations to this fund would be utilized to help students like Melat in the program to pursue their dreams while in the program. However, we cannot provide continued support through funds after they complete the program either. Sadly, we also cannot recommend nor can we facilitate continued transfer of funds once Melat has ended the program. If you would like to remain pen pals with Melat, you may ask for more information on this once Melat has completed the program. Please know that we are tremendously grateful for the incredible difference you have made in Melat's life, and we thank you so much for your desire to provide continued support. I hope this information has helped. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns. Have a blessed day!
