I am about to start having to pay college loans, and the payment is more than I was anticipating. I would like to continue sponsoring my child but I'm not sure if I can; I am going to be cutting it close just to get my loan payments paid on time. Are there an options for situations like these? I would hate to cancel my sponsorship, but may have to if not. Thank you so much!

Hello!
I've read about some similar situations as mine, so I wanted to ask! Like many, I've come into a tough spot financially and am really struggling trying to make payments. I'm about to start paying college loans, helping pay for my wedding in six months, and am moving cross country away from home and will have to start paying rent for the first time! I really don't want to discontinue my sponsorship, but wondered if there was any sort of plan I could go on in this situation?

Hi Taylor! Wow, you certainly have quite a lot going on and about to take place too, and I can see why you are stressed out :(! I'm so sorry you are struggling to donate towards Letting's support, but I am happy to discuss how we can help you out :). I can cover your donations completely for July through September and then also reduce your sponsorship rate to $19 a month from October through March if that would help you through this time. If you need more assistance after that, we would be happy to see how else we could help you too. Let me know if that would help you out, Taylor. Also, just know that I will be praying for you during this stressful time to feel the peace of the Lord and to enjoy each little moment as well! Blessings!

I had a medical emergency, and won't be able to pay for my child's sponsorship this month. Can someone help me out? My sponsor number is 1982899.

Hi Susan!

Could the same option be available for me? I had posted a separate question but it was merged into this one. Just moved to Los Angeles out of school with little money, starting loan payments, and saving for a December wedding. Don't want to discontinue payments but really struggling financially.

Hi Susan, Emily, Sara & friends,
I am struggling financially right now too and I started getting behind on my payments last month.  I love my kids and really don't want to cancel the children I'm financially sponsoring, so I'm wondering if some assistance would be available and applied to my account as well?  As missionaries, our support has been really low for the past couple of months and unfortunately, when our supporters don't give (for whatever variety of reasons), our budget is affected and we can't give. (I even had to dip into what little savings we have to pay our healthcare and other bills this month.  =( )  We have been working hard for the past several weeks to remedy this situation, but unfortunately it takes time.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

Cindy, I'm so sorry about everything that's going on! God is so faithful and I believe he has so many wonderful things planned for you and I said a prayer for your finances and any health problems in your family. I've updated your account today. Compassion will cover the support of all of your kiddos through the end of September. Come October, if you still haven't been able to recover and catch up financially, please let us know; we are happy to help your family during this difficult time.

John, we are grateful for your advocacy for children in poverty and we would be happy to help you to be able to keep the relationship that you have started with your sponsored children. Regrettably, I was unable to locate your account from your name and email address. Please post your child's ID number or your sponsor number here so that we can assist you further.

Hi,

I am so glad I saw this post because I have been making myself so stressed out thinking that I may have to end my sponsorship due to financial reasons. I am finishing up my last year in college and am trying to find a job right now but not so much luck. I would greatly appreciate it if there was something we could work out. I look forward to hearing back from someone!

Thanks,
Kylie

Hi Kylie! I am so sorry you felt stressed over making this decision, but praise the Lord that you found this post :). Compassion would be able to cover your donations for August through October and reduce your sponsorship rate to $19 a month from November through April if that would help you out. I remember how stressful the last year of college and trying to find a job at the same time was, so my heart goes out to you! The Lord has great plans ahead for your life though, and I know he will place you into the exact position you are supposed to be in. Just let me know if the offer I gave you will help you out and I will take care of it today!

Hi Jessie! I am so sorry that you had some unexpected expenses come up in the last few months. I know how hard it can be to absorb those expenses when they aren't planned for, but I have taken care of your July and August donations for each of your financially sponsored kiddos :). God bless you!

Hello. I am needing some help getting my account current. We had a situation that got us behind. I really would have to have to cancel. My girls pray for Ana every night and I don't have the heart to tell them that we had to stop blessing her family. What are my options? Thank you.

Stefoni, I am so sorry you are in such a difficult position. :( I have covered your support through the end of August. Do you think you will be able to start again in September? We certainly appreciate all that you  have done for Ana over the years and want you and your girls to be able to keep that relationship if possible.

Hi Susan! I am also having some difficulties at the moment. I was thinking of cancelling it at first but then I read here that maybe cancelling is not totally necessary, that there is an option to discontinue payment for a time and resume it after a few months. If that's the case, may I avail of that option? My other problem is I bit behind since April of this year - is it possible to just start from scratch when I resume sponsorship? Honestly, I would need at most six months to get going again from here. Is that possible?

Hi Noel! We are happy to be able to help you to be able to continue the relationship that you have with Josue and Juan. I have covered your support through the end of September. Regrettably, six months is the longest we can afford to help you. I am so sorry. I hope that you are able to continue in October but please let us know how you are doing at that time.

unfortunately, I am writing because i have come under financial strain - my work hours have been reduced to half due to downsizing, i have student loans/debt piling up and just found out that i must move out of my home in the next few months due to some family difficulties. although it pains my heart, i am struggling with the decision to cancel my sponsorships and allow my children the opportunity, God willing, of being sponsored by someone else. i would really appreciate it if someone could get back to me. thank you so much

Sarah, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the sincere intention, whole heartedly. Unfortunately, i don't have as much time as I thought to try to sort things out. I'm gonna ask that you cancel my sponsorships and make them available to someone else. I know God is for me/us and as soon as I'm back on my feet, I will be returning to do my part. God bless you & this org.

Hi Vladislav! I am so sorry that your mother is ill :(. Thank you so much for wanting to help her cover the donations for her sponsored child though. To be clear, are you wanting the help for your account, her account, or both accounts? I know you sponsor Yeimi in El Salvador, but I don't know your mother's sponsor number. Could you let me know which account exactly we are covering for you?

I posted this on my own profile but then found this strand and thought maybe I was suppose to post it here?  I started sponsering a child in Hataii a few months ago with my boyfriend. However he recently lost his jobs and we are really struggling with being able to pay our billsright now. I feel guilty canceling my sponsership but it is not something that I can afford right now. Do I have any options...i dont know if it is possible to take a few months off until we have our finances right again or if it is possible to lower my monthly donation. Please help. I am at a huge loss of what to do and under so much stress and anxiety?  Is it possible to have my payment covered for 3 months and then have the reduced payment of $19.99 for 6 motnhs after that as I have seen above?

Hi Sarah! I am so sorry that you are struggling financially after your boyfriend has lost his jobs :(. I personally know how hard it can be to walk through that season of life, and will be praying for both of you!  I've gone ahead and covered Sael's sponsorship through December. Starting in January, your sponsorship rate will be reduced to $19 a month through June, returning to $38 in July 2017. Please let us know if we can help you in any other way! God bless you, Sarah, and rest under the Lord's sheltering wings!

Thank you so sooo very much, you have no idea what this means to me.  This is a huge weight off of my back especially because I felt very guilty if I would have had to cancel the sponsorship or let Sael down in anyway.  Is there anything I need to do regarding my account in order for you to locate it or give Sael's identification number or anything or is everything taken care of?

I'm so glad we have this opportunity to help lift the burden off of you, Sarah! You need not do anything, I have already taken care of it. I was able to find your account with the email address you listed on your profile here :). Your next donation will not come out until January, which will be for $19.

Hi Abigail! I definitely know how hard it can be to juggle college with other expenses and I'm sorry to hear that you may have to cancel your sponsorship of Ivan. We are able to cover three months of sponsorship and then reduce the rate to $19 per month for six months after that. However, I know that is only a temporary fix and it may not help you. Please let me know what would be best for you and I'm happy to take care of it!

Hi Amanda! I am so sorry to hear that you broke your back and are not able to work right now! I can't imagine how much that had to hurt and the financial struggles that can come with that situation too. I can cover your sponsorship donations for Paula through the end of the year right now. If you need any more assistance after that, please do not hesitate to ask us. We may be able to help you with a few more months at that time :). In the meantime, I will be praying for you to heal quickly!

Hello, I recently started to attend school, and I'm in the process of purchasing a home. I have seen it hard to make my payments and I'm already behind. I do not know what to do , the only option that I see possible is canceling, but as soon as get back on feet assist the same child again. Is that possible, or is there anything we can work with together? I, at the moment do not have the total past due amount available.
Thank you .

Vanessa, it sounds like you have a whole lot going on! I'm glad you reached out to us :). If you need a break temporarily, we can take care of your contributions for July, August, and September, and reduce your contribution rate to $19 per month for October through March. However, I completely understand if you think it's best to go ahead and cancel now and then you're welcome to come back and sponsor when you're ready. There will be no guarantee that Bonface will be available for sponsorship, but we can certainly check for you at that time. Please let us know how you would like us to proceed :).
