I was wondering if I could get a 3 month break as well. My family is transitioning (new baby and new house) and will be scraping the bottom of the barrel for a few months. The $19 for 6 months after the 3 months would be a huge help as well. I was really sad about having to cancel my support of Japhet, but if this could be done for me I would feel a lot better. Thanks!

I have updated your account so that it's current through the end of June :). I'm praying that you find a new job quickly and that this helps while you get settled in a new job and get back on your feet. Come July, if your situation has not yet improved, let me know. We're happy to work with you. In the meantime, you're welcome to keep writing to Jose! He loves hearing from you and I know would love to be praying for you during this time!

We're so happy to help you out! I've updated your account so that your support is current through the end of October as it was already current through the end of July. We'll cover those next three months while you get back on your feet. The next withdrawal on your account won't happen until November 15th. But if your situation hasn't improved by then, please don't hesitate to contact us again so that we can re-evaluate and if necessary, reduce your rate for a few months.
You're such a blessing to Mihret and we appreciate your desire to help see him through to the end of the program! He treasures you and you're a wonderful sponsor!

I am going to need to cancel my sponsorship. I had received the payment assistance this year, but it expires this month. Unfortunately, next month my student loan and health insurance costs are rising. My sponsor number is 2852575.
Thank you!

I would like to transfer my sponsorship to my sister. She would like to take over paying for Giovanna as I am beginning to pay student loans and saving for a wedding. Can you assist me?

We're happy to work with you to help you to keep the relationship that you have with your child! You could take the summer off of donations while you get caught up on loans and car payments. This would mean that we would cover three months' support for you. Then in September, we could lower your support amount to $19 for six months. Regrettably, we are not able to do the lowered support amount for more than six months though because we would cover the difference.
If you need to change the debit date for your support like Lyanna did, I can definitely do that for you. We have dates on the 5th, 10th, 15th, and the 20th.
I know when I was in college, it worked better for me to pay everything for the semester upfront. If it works better for you to make a donation for several months at a time or a year at a time, feel free to do that. Four months of support would be $152, nine months of support would be $380, and twelve months of support would be $456. You could stop the automatic withdrawal or set it up for a quarterly or annual automatic withdrawal instead of a monthly withdrawal.
Let me know if either of these options or a combination would work for you.

I too am struggling with student loan payments with extremely high interest rates right now. I would like to continue donating until Messeret finishes in a few months, but would also like to lower my payments, starting with June, to the $19 amount for the remainder of my sponsorship. Would this be possible?
Thank you

Could I possibly suspend my sponsorship for a few months?.
My father is currently unemployed, and though I will have a part time job for the summer, I have used up almost all of my savings during my time at a one year bible college overseas. I want to start rebuilding my savings account and also have that money set aside in case my family needs it.
I would like to suspend my account with Brian for about three months, please. If my father has a job by then, I would really like to continue sponsoring Brian, but if not, at that point I would really need to cancel my sponsorship; we would really just not be able to afford it.

Financial Issues But Don't Want To Cancel.
I have been sponsoring three girls and giving $35 a month to HVC as a college student but I recently got into a car wreck and need a new car. I really don't want to cancel but with current costs, it looks like I'll have to choose between car and insurance payments or my kids. No matter what I will have to cancel giving to HVC. Is there anything that can be done so I don't have to give up sponsorship of my three girls? I feel so bad about it.

I just finished my first year of college. I had budgeted money for my sponsorship for a year at the end of high school/beginning of last summer. My hope was to have a job to continue paying for my sponsorship by now, but God has had other plans. Unfortunately, I have missed payments for the past two months, as much as it hurts me to admit, I can not continue supporting my child. Could you please help me cancel my sponsorship?

We truly appreciate your heart to want to continue sponsoring Gertrase even without having a job. If you would like, Compassion would be happy to cover the couple months that you had missed in addition to the next three months to allow you time to find a job. This means that your next sponsorship contribution would not be due until November. Please let us know if you feel this would allow you to continue your relationship with Gertrase. :)

We do agree with you. Many children need extra funding to be able to go to school, have enough to eat and a safe house to live in. Compassion was able to work for nearly 50 years in India. We began working in India in 1968, but sadly due to changes in government regulations, we did have to discontinue doing so. Compassion will continue to keep India in our prayers!

Sponsor Payment.
Hello, I'm sponsoring a child in Bolivia and I want to continue to do so. However, I am having financial problems and want to know if there's any way I can lower the payments until I'm able to find a steady job. Thanks.

Very Sad.
I am very sad to say that due to financial reasons, I am looking at the possibility that I may have to cancel my sponsorship of Jose and Kevin. I really do not want to cancel either one of them, these boys need my family and we need them. I know how it feels to think that no one loves you, and to feel abandoned. Unfortunately due to medical reasons I have been out of work since March, and just recently found out that I will not be able to return to work. We can not afford the monthly payments right now. Is there a way to stay in contact with the boys and suspend the payments only for a month or two?
Thank You

Wow, I'm so sorry that you have been out of work so long. I hope that you've been able to get disability or something during this time so that you're not going completely without an income. I will be praying for healing soon and hope that God has been really meeting you during this time of recovery. I so appreciate your heart of concern for your children as well! We really want to be able to help you to keep the very special relationship that you have with them if at all possible. I just covered the next three months of support for you. Please continue to stay connected through letters to your children since you are still sponsoring them during this time. Let us know how you are doing in October and we will reassess our options at that point. :)

Susan,
Thank you, so much for doing that for me. You just showed not only me; but my own children that there is kindness in the world. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sometimes I forget that the Lord shows blessings when we least expect, but you helped to renew my spirit, just when I needed it the most. You have no idea what your gift has done. May the Lord bless you.

Can I get help with payments while I get back on my feet?.

Are there options for sponsors going through a short term financial difficulty.
I was sponsoring a child with two other friends who can no longer support her. Unfortunately I can not fully support her by myself right now. I know in about a month I will be able to though. Is there anything I can do that will help me out in this situation so I don't have to cancel my sponsorship?

After reading this post it makes me feel better knowing that canceling the sponsorship is not the only option. Like many of the posters I am having a hard time keeping up with the payments. I am a single mom and with having to pay for summer camp and having to purchase back to school clothing and supplies I need help with the monthly donation. Please let me know who I need to contact in order to get assistance. Thank you

I came into this discussion feeling very concerned and upset about having to cancel my sponsorship of Bibata. Can you imagine my excitement and relief when I realized that I have the option to suspend my payments and then reinstate them at a reduced cost? If you could please apply this to my account as well, I would be so appreciative. Not only are you all lifesavers for the children and families in need but you're lifesavers for the donors as well, as evidenced above.
Thank you!

I'm sorry for the concern and sadness that you felt going into this but glad that we are able to help! I have taken care of this for you so starting in November, you will be at the lower $19 support amount for six months. Thank you so much for your very kind words. I so appreciate your care and concern and commitment to helping children in poverty! We are blessed to partner with people like you!

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but for some reason I thought my sponsorship of Messeret would be ending in August. I just got a bill for September, so I'm guessing it doesn't end until October. I am on a reduced rate payment plan already, but unfortunately I am not able to pay the last 1-2 months that are remaining of my sponsorship because of financial difficulties. What should I do?
Emily
We do not want this sponsorship to be a financial burden on you and want you to be able to maintain this relationship with your boy through its completion. Compassion is happy to cover the month of September for you so that you can continue writing to him for this last month. I have updated your account today and we are so grateful for the sacrifice you have made and for investing in his life for over 7 years. I pray that you enjoy this last month of your sponsorship and we will contact you once we receive news that he has graduated! :) Please let me know if I can help you further.
Monica
Could I get this option too? Right now, I have zero money to give, but would like to try having my sponsorship covered for 3 months then lowering it to $19/mo for 6 months and see where I'm at then.
If I do have to cancel, can I still write Moussa?
And could I cancel my support with Partners of Compassion?
Emily
Regrettably, if you need to cancel in the future, we place your child back up for sponsorship at that time and you would be welcome to write Moussa a final letter to say goodbye, but are no longer able to maintain a letter writing relationship with him. I will be praying that you will not have to make this difficult decision and come July, you will be back on your feet again :).

I will be going on a study abroad stay and although my financial situation is already tough, I really don't want to cancel my sponsorship. So I would be very gratefull if I could get both 3 months cover of donations and lower the donations for 6 months after that. That would be EXACTLY the time that will be critical for me...
Thanks for your help and God bless.

I am so happy that you came to us because we want to do everything we can to help you maintain your relationship with Lima. First off, please rest assured that she does not know anything about the financial situation. She will continue receiving support from the project and be able to attend activities :). In regards to your support, I have updated your account today so that Compassion covers the months of November through January for you. This is our gift to you and you will not need to reimburse us. I have also requested that beginning in February, your rate be temporarily reduced to $19 for 6 months. If your situation improves before then, just let us know and we can increase your rate back to the $38 rate before that time is up :).
I pray that this helps you during this time. You're still welcome to send Lima letters during this time as I know she will love to continue getting to know you as her sponsor. God bless you and Merry Christmas!

I'm having a similar struggle with my finances at the moment. Would I be able to have my donation covered for 3 months and then reduced to $19 for 6 months? I do not want to cancel my sponsorship, but I won't be able to afford $38/month for the next few months.
Thank you,
Brianna
Emily
Brianna, finances can be so stressful sometimes :(. I pray that God would provide for you and that your situation would improve quickly! We are more than happy to help you out. I have updated your account today so that your account so that your donation for March does not withdrawal and the next automatic pull will be in April. Compassion will cover your support for this month. Would it help you out if we removed your extra $7/month giving towards the HIV/AIDS Response? This would reduce your monthly rate from $45 to just the $38 for Peter's support. We are grateful for your sacrifice and generosity but we don't want this to be a burden on you. Let me know if this would help you out and I will update your account when I receive your response :).
I'm sorry that your child letter was returned to us as undeliverable :(. I have notified the department that put your letter off to the side until we received a correct address, that you have updated your address and should receive mail now. I do not want to cancel my sponsorship if I do not have to and I know that the financial assistance available would help me out tremendously. During the first semester of grad school, I will have to pay a lot of expenses out of pocket (tuition, books, etc) so being able to have 3 months covered and reduce the payment for 6 months afterwards would give me a chance to get on my feet, get financially stable, and continue my sponsorship. Is there anyway I could do this? I appreciate Compassion's understanding and assistance in times of need!

I have updated your account today. Don't worry about the months of August through October, we've got you covered. Beginning in November, your rate will be $19 per month and the $38 rate won't resume until May of 2016. I'm excited for this new adventure ahead of you and pray for grace, energy, wisdom, and so so much more of learning just how special you are to Jesus and all that He has for you! Keep the letters up with your girl as often as you can, I know she always loves to hear from you :). Good luck in grad school!
Jasmin, thanks for the information! Your support will be current through the end of September now and we don't need anymore support until October. God bless you and have an incredible weekend :).

Regrettably, I'm still not finding an account for you guys under your name and email address. Do you have your child's ID number or your sponsor number? This would help me locate your account. Once I get into your account, I can also see why your donation did not go through. If you need to discontinue, I cannot do future cancels but we can make your child available for another sponsor when you're ready.
Ginny Liu
Emily
If you think that this change in your finances might just be short term as you adjust to a new country, new culture and home, and a new job, then we'd be happy to cover your support for a few months. We could cover your back support for Noemi (3 months) and bring her support current through February (another 3 months) and give you a fresh start beginning in March. We'd also be happy to cover Gayatri's support through the end of January and begin your support back up in February for this child. At this point, we could even reduce both children's rates to just $19 per child per month for up to six months.
If this still might be too much, you might consider going down to just sponsoring one child. This would reduce your monthly rate from $76 to just $38. I know you have been building a relationship with both children and this may be difficult but it might allow you to at least continue sponsorship with one child and not have to cancel both. Please let me know if any or all of these options would help you and I'll take care of your request.
If not, please let me know and I'll make these children available for another sponsor. In the meantime, I have stopped your automatic donations for Gayatri as she was the only child set up on auto withdrawal.

I want to encourage you that we sent you an email regarding children on your account that are behind in support as we don't want it to catch you off guard when children are removed from your account due to lack of support. We understand that circumstances arise and we're happy to help you.
We can help you out with these children at risk of being removed from your account that we emailed you about. I requested today that Lidiwrka Abigail's support be brought current through the end of September and Selamawit current through the end of October. I have also requested that the support for Ashly, Modhu, and Niyonizeye Miriam be brought current through the end of December. This is what we're able to do regarding covering back support for you. I have also requested that all of their rates be reduced to $19 for six months as well.

This is my second child with compassion and although I am thrilled to be sponsoring Alex, I don't think I can handle the $38 a month with car expenses, working only so many hours at work, being a full time college student, and trying to save up money to move out of my parent's house. I would really hate to leave Alex, so if you can help me, that would be amazing, but if I end up not being able to care for him, I pray God will send a loving sponsor his way.

Hi I was wondering if I could get help on my payments as well. I have medical stuff I need to pay for doctors visits, medications and shots. I had a family member split the payment with but she backed out. I want to keep sponsoring my child. Help with payments would mean so much to me.

This means that your account is completely covered from May through July, as I see you have already made your contribution for April. If you are still in need of a little help at that time, please let us know and we can talk about additional options. I hope this is helpful! :)

I too am experiencing some financial hardships, but I don't want to give up my sponsorship. I am currently having to pay for my last class in college and I'm having to work 2 jobs to do so. Are their any options I could take part in?
Thank you for your help!

I am on the same account as Leeanne. What do I need to do to suspend the sponsorship for a few months? Thank you!

I am so sorry to hear that you may need to cancel your sponsorship. I see that you have been sponsoring Lucien for quite some time! Because we value your sponsorship of Lucien, we would be happy to cover a few months of sponsorship, if you feel this would be helpful and would allow you to continue your relationship with Lucien. This means we would be happy to cover your account from June to August. Until we hear back from you, I have stopped your automatic withdraw, as it is set to pull tomorrow. Please let us know if you feel this would be helpful, and if not, I will be happy to fulfill your request to cancel.

I completely understand. I am so sorry to see things have not resolved quite yet. I have removed Lucien from your account today. Please know we would very blessed to partner with you in the future if you ever feel led to sponsor again!
