I am about to start having to pay college loans, and the payment is more than I was anticipating. I would like to continue sponsoring my child but I'm not sure if I can; I am going to be cutting it close just to get my loan payments paid on time. Are there an options for situations like these? I would hate to cancel my sponsorship, but may have to if not. Thank you so much!

Hi Lyanna! I know from personal experience how difficult the transition can be of starting to pay student loans. We're happy to work with you to help you through this transition. You mentioned that you will be cutting it close to get the payment in on time. Would it be helpful to change the pull date for  your support for your child to later in the month? Maybe the 20th? Maybe it would be helpful to send the donations manually for a while? We could also cover your support for three months and then lower your support amount to $19 for six months. Please let me know if this would help you until you get back on your feet. If not and if you really need to cancel, let me know and I can help you with that as well.

Hi Susan,
I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but for some reason I thought my sponsorship of Messeret would be ending in August.  I just got a bill for September, so I'm guessing it doesn't end until October. I am on a reduced rate payment plan already, but unfortunately I am not able to pay the last 1-2 months that are remaining of my sponsorship because of financial difficulties. What should I do?

Alex, I am very sorry that you are experiencing struggles financially as I know how frustrating that can be. Please forgive me if there was any confusion or misunderstanding when we explained the expected completion date of your child. We do still anticipate Messeret to graduate from our program this September! As of right now, he is still attending the project and finishing up. Once he officially completes, we will contact you directly with this exciting news.

We do not want this sponsorship to be a financial burden on you and want you to be able to maintain this relationship with your boy through its completion. Compassion is happy to cover the month of September for you so that you can continue writing to him for this last month.  I have updated your account today and we are so grateful for the sacrifice you have made and for investing in his life for over 7 years. I pray that you enjoy this last month of your sponsorship and we will contact you once we receive news that he has graduated! :) Please let me know if I can help you further.

Hi Susan,

Could I get this option too? Right now, I have zero money to give, but would like to try having my sponsorship covered for 3 months then lowering it to $19/mo for 6 months and see where I'm at then.

If I do have to cancel, can I still write Moussa?

And could I cancel my support with Partners of Compassion?

Monica, thank you so much for reaching out to us because we would be so happy to help you out during this time! I am sorry you are going through a rough season right now but I pray that your situation improves and we can definitely reassess in July when your rate increases back to the $38/month. As requested, I have cancelled your extra giving to the Partners of Compassion Fund and I have updated your account today so that your account is current through the end of the year and the next donation we will need won't be until January of 2015 at the reduced rate.

Regrettably, if you need to cancel in the future, we place your child back up for sponsorship at that time and you would be welcome to write Moussa a final letter to say goodbye, but are no longer able to maintain a letter writing relationship with him. I will be praying that you will not have to make this difficult decision and come July, you will be back on your feet again :).

Hi, I am in a very similar situation as Lyanna.
I will be going on a study abroad stay and although my financial situation is already tough, I really don't want to cancel my sponsorship. So I would be very gratefull if I could get both 3 months cover of donations and lower the donations for 6 months after that. That would be EXACTLY the time that will be critical for me...
Thanks for your help and God bless.

Hello, we are having financial difficulties and we were considering having to cancel our sponsorship, but I would really hate to do that, because I love my two sponsored kids.. but the payments are too high for us right now.. i was so happy to see that there is an option for 3 free months and then 6 months of $19.. that would be a significant help and we would possibly be able to continue sponsoring our 2 kids with that plan, if our finances get better by that time. Would someone help me with this?

Michelle, I am sorry that you are experiencing struggles financially right now :(. I so appreciate your families sacrifice and desire to continue supporting your children despite these difficult circumstances. I do not know what your situation looks like but with your permission, I would like to add you to our prayer list here at Compassion so that our staff can be keeping your family in our prayers.

I am so glad that you came to us because we would be more than happy to help you out for a time while you get back on your feet. Regrettably, I was unable to locate your account using your name and email address. Would you mind posting your child's ID number on here so that I can locate you in our system? At that time, I will update your account so that you're able to maintain the relationship you have been building with your kiddos.

Hello, I sponsor Lima in Peru and am having a very hard time making ends meet right now with the holidays and my hours being cut back at work. Could I have this option or something similar as I do not want to end my commitment or hinder any help and resources available to her.

Hi Lori! I am so sorry that your hours have been cut at work :(. I know how stressful that can be especially with the holidays here. I pray that your situation would improve soon and your hours increase.

I am so happy that you came to us because we want to do everything we can to help you maintain your relationship with Lima. First off, please rest assured that she does not know anything about the financial situation. She will continue receiving support from the project and be able to attend activities :). In regards to your support, I have updated your account today so that Compassion covers the months of November through January for you. This is our gift to you and you will not need to    reimburse us. I have also requested that beginning in February, your rate be temporarily reduced to $19 for 6 months. If your situation improves before then, just let us know and we can increase your rate back to the $38 rate before that time is up :).

I pray that this helps you during this time. You're still welcome to send Lima letters during this time as I know she will love to continue getting to know you as her sponsor. God bless you and Merry Christmas!

Hello,

I'm having a similar struggle with my finances at the moment. Would I be able to have my donation covered for 3 months and then reduced to $19 for 6 months? I do not want to cancel my sponsorship, but I won't be able to afford $38/month for the next few months.

Thank you,

Brianna

Hannah, I am so sorry that you need to discontinue. If this is the best decision for you right now, we certainly respect that and can process your request. Before I completely cancel your support of Byron, you have been such a faithful sponsor that we want to help you if this is due to short term financial difficulties. Would it help you out if we covered your support through March and then reduced your rate temporarily to $19 for 6 months? Please let me know if this would help you continue sponsoring Byron. If not, please reply here and I will make him available for another sponsor.

Brianna, finances can be so stressful sometimes :(. I pray that God would provide for you and that your situation would improve quickly! We are more than happy to help you out. I have updated your account to reflect your requested changes. We will cover your support through April and your rate will be reduced to $19 beginning in May all through the end of October.

I'd like to switch my payment to the 20th. I thought I asked for that when I signed up but the payment is on the 5th. I'd rather pay in the middle of the month since my rent is due at that time. I would like to take this months payment in a few days and move it to the 20th of March.

Hi Bridgette! I apologize for any misunderstanding but we can easily correct this for you! I have updated your account so that Agatha's support will withdrawal on the 20th of each month from the card we have on file for you. This will begin on March 20th and so you will not see a withdrawal happen on the 5th.

Hello! I'm in a similar boat, I've been getting less hours at work and can't afford this month's payment. I don't want Peter to lose sponsorship, nor do I want to stop sponsoring him entirely (although I haven't been able to get a letter from him because even though I updated my address in my profile and I've gotten letters there before, the most recent one has been undeliverable). What can I do? Thanks!

Hi Ethan! I'm so glad you contacted us because we're more than happy to help you out. I'm sorry that you've been getting less hours at work and I pray that your situation improves quickly!

I have updated your account today so that your account so that your donation for March does not withdrawal and the next automatic pull will be in April. Compassion will cover your support for this month. Would it help you out if we removed your extra $7/month giving towards the HIV/AIDS Response? This would reduce your monthly rate from $45 to just the $38 for Peter's support. We are grateful for your sacrifice and generosity but we don't want this to be a burden on you. Let me know if this would help you out and I will update your account when I receive your response :).

I'm sorry that your child letter was returned to us as undeliverable :(. I have notified the department that put your letter off to the side until we received a correct address, that you have updated your address and should receive mail now. I hope that it reaches you this time, but if we have further issues, we'll let you know.

Hello!

I was hoping to connect on a similar financial situation of just being unable to make ends meet right now.

I was grateful to stumble upon these other options before completely canceling my sponsorship of Shija. Is there any way I can do this so that in the next few months I can catch up on bills and hopefully continue to sponsor him?

Cassandra, I'm so glad that you saw this forum because we certainly don't want you to have to cancel your two year relationship you've been building with Brian if we're able to help you out while you get back on your feet. I have brought your account current today so that you don't have to worry about the back support that was missed. I've also updated your account so that your support is covered for the month of August as well. My hope is that by the end of August, your situation will have improved and you will be able to continue supporting Brian.

I'm so sorry that finances are hard for you right now :(. I know that can be stressful but God loves you so very much and wants to take care of you :). I pray that He would bless your situation and provide for you financially. Please let us know if things haven't changed by the end of next month and we can discuss what might be able to be done to help you maintain your relationship with Brian.

Also, thanks for writing to him so consistently. I know that he loves to hear from you and you're welcome to write as often as you'd like!

Hi! I'm currently in a financial dilemma, I'm running low on my finances, & I can not start work again until the beginning of September & I'm trying to make ends meet until then. I don't want to stop sponsoring my child, but by the look of my bank account I don't think I can continue sponsoring my child these next couple of months. I was wondering if there was anything I can do??? Thank you so much!

Jasmin, I'm sorry that you're out of work right now, that can definitely cause some financial strain on someone as you try to balance and budget. Thank you for wanting to continue supporting your child. We're happy to help you! It sounds like it might help you if we were to cover your support through the end of September which we can definitely do for you :).

Regrettably, we have a few different accounts under your name but none with your email address. Can you post your child's ID number or your sponsor number here so that I can find the right account for you? I'll be happy to update your support at that time. I hope your situation improves quickly!

Hi! I have been sponsoring my child, Sponsa, since I was in high school and have loved the relationship I have been able to build with her. I just recently graduated from college and am starting my Master's program and have moved to a new city. I am on my own financially and am having a hard time making ends meet.

I do not want to cancel my sponsorship if I do not have to and I know that the financial assistance available would help me out tremendously. During the first semester of grad school, I will have to pay a lot of expenses out of pocket (tuition, books, etc) so being able to have 3 months covered and reduce the payment for 6 months afterwards would give me a chance to get on my feet, get financially stable, and continue my sponsorship. Is there anyway I could do this? I appreciate Compassion's understanding and assistance in times of need!

Katie, wow, you have been through so much life with Sponsa! One of my favorite parts of sponsorship is watching a sponsor and their child go through years of life together, be able to live through different seasons and experience growth, celebration, and change together. Thank you for staying with her so long and we definitely want to help you through this season as you once again experience life changing circumstances this I know will be taking up a lot of time and finances. We appreciate your sacrifice and congratulations on finishing college...and choosing to continue!

I have updated your account today. Don't worry about the months of August through October, we've got you covered. Beginning in November, your rate will be $19 per month and the $38 rate won't resume until May of 2016. I'm excited for this new adventure ahead of you and pray for grace, energy, wisdom, and so so much more of learning just how special you are to Jesus and all that He has for you! Keep the letters up with your girl as often as you can, I know she always loves to hear from you :). Good luck in grad school!

Jasmin, thanks for the information! Your support will be current through the end of September now and we don't need anymore support until October. God bless you and have an incredible weekend :).

Wow, this support page is a direct answer to prayer! I am so glad I'm not the only one struggling between needing to pay bills, yet still wanting to sponsor my child. I am a senior in college, but still have 2 years left, and I am having to take 7 classes at a time, so I had to switch to being an as needed employee at my job and I'm struggling financially. If I could do the 3 month option of no payments, then 6 months of a decreased price that would be a HUGE blessing! I am hoping by then I will have enough saved up again where the normal price wont be an issue. Any help would be much appreciated- thank you!

Hi there! I'm so sorry to hear that you're going to need to discontinue your support Kendall and Savvy. If we were able to assist you with bringing your account current and then covering your support for an additional three months, would this help?

Regrettably, I'm still not finding an account for you guys under your name and email address. Do you have your child's ID number or your sponsor number? This would help me locate your account. Once I get into your account, I can also see why your donation did not go through. If you need to discontinue, I cannot do future cancels but we can make your child available for another sponsor when you're ready.

Ginny, switching jobs in itself is quite a change but moving to a different country is a huge life transition and I certainly understand that your circumstances and financial situation may have been impacted quite a bit. I'm so sorry that your situation is not allowing you to continue at the same sponsorship rate that you're currently at. Regrettably, I cannot permanently decrease your sponsorship rate but I may have a couple options that might help you out.

If you think that this change in your finances might just be short term as you adjust to a new country, new culture and home, and a new job, then we'd be happy to cover your support for a few months. We could cover your back support for Noemi (3 months) and bring her support current through February (another 3 months) and give you a fresh start beginning in March. We'd also be happy to cover Gayatri's support through the end of January and begin your support back up in February for this child. At this point, we could even reduce both children's rates to just $19 per child per month for up to six months.

If this still might be too much, you might consider going down to just sponsoring one child. This would reduce your monthly rate from $76 to just $38. I know you have been building a relationship with both children and this may be difficult but it might allow you to at least continue sponsorship with one child and not have to cancel both. Please let me know if any or all of these options would help you and I'll take care of your request.

If not, please let me know and I'll make these children available for another sponsor. In the meantime, I have stopped your automatic donations for Gayatri as she was the only child set up on auto withdrawal.

Hey Emily, thank you SO MUCH for your support and understanding. Indeed, it is a huge adjustment and since I have moved to a new country, the paycheck I am getting is not going to be enough. I think that will be very nice to help me get back on my feet first. Is it possible to start Noemi from February and Gayatri from March. And it will be helpful to have a reduced $19 rate for both of them for the following six months while I figure things out. I would like to continue to support them both as much as possible but if need be, I will have to honor them! Let me know if this works.

Hi Ginny! Regrettably, we only have the ability to cover up to three months of sponsorship in advance at a time. If you still need help with Gayatri's sponsorship in February, please let us know and we would be happy to cover one more month of sponsorship for her. I have taken care of covering both girls support for all the months that Emily mentioned and reducing their rate to $19 a month for the following six months.

I am praying that God brings you wonderful new friendships and opportunities in your new country! I know it can be a scary, hard thing to move across the world, but God already has incredible plans ready for you. :)

Hi Beth! I am so sorry to hear that you are struggling financially. Paying back student loans can be so stressful! It looks like you just began sponsoring Elyin with us in October, so I know you have a heart for her :). You have been donating $45 monthly, $7 of which is going toward our Partners of Compassion fund. We suggest removing that commitment when sponsors are going through financial struggles, but we can always restart that commitment for you at a later date. I can also cover her support completely for you for December through February and reduce her sponsorship rate to $19 a month from March through August. In September 2016, her rate would increase to $38. Please let me know if this would help you out.

This would help me out very much! I actually just got off the phone with an employee and she didn't seem to think that $19 a month from March through September would be an option so I asked to just delay my payments until March. If $19 a month after March is still an option I would much rather do that so I don't have to think of canceling my sponsorship whatsoever! I just need a little time to get things situated. Your help is appreciated!

Oh, I am sorry that we gave you two different answers, Beth. She probably said that because we can only reduce a rate for up to six months at a time. Extending the reduced rate through September would be seven months, while just reducing it through August would be six months. I've got your account set up to pull out $19 a month from March through August for you. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

In the meantime, keep loving on your sweet little girl! You've already been such a blessing to her by sending an encouraging letter :)!

Hi Mallory! I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through a difficult time and I also apologize that you're emailing us and we're not receiving them. Be sure that you're sending it to the correct address at socialmedia@compassion.com

I want to encourage you that we sent you an email regarding children on your account that are behind in support as we don't want it to catch you off guard when children are removed from your account due to lack of support. We understand that circumstances arise and we're happy to help you.

We can help you out with these children at risk of being removed from your account that we emailed you about. I requested today that Lidiwrka Abigail's support be brought current through the end of September and Selamawit current through the end of October. I have also requested that the support for Ashly, Modhu, and Niyonizeye Miriam be brought current through the end of December. This is what we're able to do regarding covering back support for you. I have also requested that all of their rates be reduced to $19 for six months as well.

I pray that this helps you out and that your situation improves very soon!

Mallory, I did want to clarify as I noticed I didn't elaborate enough; the rate will only be reduced for your three CDSP children mentioned above. Regrettably, we cannot reduce the rate for our LDP students as this program does need full support to help these students complete through our University program.  I'm sorry for this inconvenience but I pray that this still is able to help you out as much as possible.

Let me know if you have other questions.

I will  try  to  email you  again as it  is  more complicated  than that.  It is  not just  about money  it is  the  way the account  is set  up.  Also  the form will not accept my  bank  details for  either  my Australian or  my  UK  bank accounts.

Mallory, to donate to Compassion USA, please note that all donations must be made in US dollars. I will wait for your email and we're happy to help you out. If we don't respond within 24 hours, we likely didn't receive your email. At this point, let me know if you sent us one and we didn't receive it. I will just send you a manual email at that point that you can respond to.

Mallory, we received all of your emails just now. I know that this is likely a little scary as you do not want to lose your children and students. You have been such a faithful supporter over the last three years and we greatly appreciate your partnership. Please rest assured that Emily and I are working carefully on your case and we will keep you updated on our progress.

Susan  , I  actually  started  6 years  ago  with  Mariselvi who  was 17 and  had waited  a VERY  long time for a sponsored . I  always sponsored from the USA as at first I  did not know there was a Uk  office and later because i  usually sponsor girls who  have been dropped  near completion. You  can usually  only  find children up to 11 on the UK site.

Hi Julie! Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! This is such an exciting time for you and I pray the planning goes smoothly and that you and your husband-to-be enjoy your special day :). After you're married, let us know what your new last name is and we're happy to update your account to reflect this change.

We're absolutely happy to help you out during this time. I know that wedding prep can get expensive! As requested, I have updated your account so that your support is covered through the end of May. Your next withdrawal for your child will not happen until June 20th.

Have an incredible wedding and thank you for wanting to continue supporting your child through this exciting new season of your life! I would encourage you to send Pornpailin some photos of you and your husband after you get married. I know she'll love to be a part of this with you! :)

Hi Leilani! We are certainly able to help you out financially for the next three months :). I remember quite well how much Bible colleges can cost, and am so grateful that you are not letting that stop you from continuing to sponsor Dairy! I will cover her donations through November, and your monthly support will begin to pull again in December. You will still be able to write to her during this time as well. I know she'd love to pray over you as you head to Bible college :). Blessings!

Hello. We are starting a new ministry and have gone to vocational ministry with part time work, and are having to cut spending way down but we don't want to stop our support. Is there anyway we can get a change to how much we give or something like that. Hopefully in the coming months things will change financially for us, but for now its either a change or we have to cancel our support.

Justin, may God bless you richly as you step out into vocational ministry! I noticed that you have an extra commitment of $7 a month to the Highly Vulnerable Children's fund. This is a voluntary, general fund that is not required to sponsor a child. You are welcome to take a break from giving to that fund for the time being if you would like. Regrettably, because you are Jeremiah's only sponsor, we are not able to lower the amount long term. Basically, when we lower the amount, Compassion covers the difference for a time and we send the full amount to the child. We can also cover your support for a few months if you think you might be in a better place financially by then. I know these are all difficult decisions and I am so sorry for that. Please let me know what you decide and I am happy to help with whatever you need to do.

Hello, due to the fact that I have been transitioning to from High School to College, I have been financially struggling. I do owe about $114 for the past 3 months. Would there be a way for me to pay that in smaller payments and then cancel my sponsorship? I wouldn't want to continue knowing I will be financially struggling for a while.
Thank You.

Emily, congratulations on starting your new journey! I'm sorry you had to deal with this difficult decision :(. I don't want you to feel like you owe Compassion anything, because you really don't. If you would like to contribute that $114, you are welcome to do so gradually. However, it is completely okay to cancel your sponsorship now. Your sponsored kiddo will not miss out on any of the student center activities. The children are never made aware of the sponsor's financial situation. Let me know what would be best for you and we will take care of it! I was not able to locate your account, so could you please post your sponsor number or child's ID number in your response? Thank you!

Hello,
This is my second child with compassion and although I am thrilled to be sponsoring Alex, I don't think I can handle the $38 a month with car expenses, working only so many hours at work, being a full time college student, and trying to save up money to move out of my parent's house. I would really hate to leave Alex, so if you can help me, that would be amazing, but if I end up not being able to care for him, I pray God will send a loving sponsor his way.
Thank you so much!

Hi Jennifer! I'm sorry to hear that you may have to end your sponsorship of Alen, but it sounds like you have a lot going on right now! If you want to try to give the situation more time to see if you are able  to contribute again down the road, Compassion can cover your contributions from October through December and then reduce your monthly rate to $19 per month from January through June. Of course, I know this would only be a temporary help and it may be best for you to cancel your sponsorship at this time. Please let me know what would be best for you and we're happy to take care of it!

Alexis, I am deeply sorry that you are struggling financially :(. I understand that when finances become tight, life becomes pretty stressful. We can definitely refund your most recent donation for you as soon as possible! To confirm that I have located the correct account for you, are you sponsoring Mwasiti from Tanzania?

Regrettably, we are in the process of transitioning to a new system, and all of our transactions and requests will be delayed for the next few weeks. Therefore, it will take a couple of weeks for us to process this refund. I'm so sorry for any inconveniences this may cause and thank you so much for your grace and patience.

We greatly value you as a Compassion sponsor and the difference you're making in your child's life. We would be happy to help you by covering a couple months of support for you. This means that we would cover the months of January through March. This would be our gift to you, so you wouldn't need to reimburse Compassion. If this would help you, please let me know and I would be happy to take care of this for you. If not, and you would like to cancel your sponsorship, then I will make your child available for sponsorship. I look forward to your reply!

I could really use this help right now as well as my husband recently lost his job and his unemployment was revoked. He wants me to cancel my sponsorship, but I don't want to. I would feel too bad, like I'd be abandoning little Gustavo. So it would be great if Compassion could cover 3 months then do $19 a month for 6 months. I'm sure we'll be back on our feet by then. My new sponsor number is 02536248.

Alicia, I'm so sorry to hear of the financial hardships you are going through :(. I understand that it's very stressful when there is a strain on your finances, and I can certainly help you! Compassion is happy to cover the months of February through April for you, and you may resume your support in May. I have also temporarily reduced your sponsorship rate of $38 a month for the next 6 months after, so you can continue your relationship with Gustavo. This means that beginning in May your sponsorship amount is going to be reduced to $19 a month through October and it will return to the $38 rate in November. This is our gift to you, so you don't need to worry about reimbursing Compassion :). We are so thankful for the opportunity to help you and your family during this hard time and help you continue your ministry to Gustavo. God bless you!

Greetings, Compassion-staff! I have been struggling to stay afloat this past year since relocating for a position after obtaining my degree/licensure... it's been 2 steps forward, 3 steps back until I've wound up to this point where I'm not sure what to do anymore. I DO want to keep my sponsorships, but if it would bet possible to receive the assistance (covered 3 months & then reduced for a time) so I could get back on my feet as well, that would be such a blessing!! My Sponsor Number is: 01443045. Please let me know ASAP. THANK YOU!!! :)

Good morning Vanessa,
I am so sorry to hear that you are going through some medical problems and on top of that, your friend backed out on her part of your sponsorship! We know that sometimes life can get a little crazy. I have taken care of covering three months of sponsorship for you. This means that your account is completely covered from May through July, as I see you have already made your contribution for April. If you are still in need of a little help at that time, please let us know and we can talk about additional options. I hope this is helpful! :)

I'm going through some financial trouble and am behind. The sponsor # 02366335. I will be making the $38 this week and will have to catch up in June for the remainder. Hi Susan! I had posted a question a couple weeks ago. It was merged with this question a while back but I never got a reply (at least I don't think :)). I am currently trying to get back on my feet after some mental health issues and don't quite have the resources to be able to continue my sponsorship for my child during this time. Is there any way I could suspend my sponsorship for a few months? I plan on resuming it in the near future, however I just can't swing it right now.

Thanks!

Hey Lauren! Christina actually responded to you when we merged your question, but I am so sorry that you didn't see it! Here's what Christina's response was to you: Lauren, I'm so sorry to hear that you are facing some financial difficulties! We do understand, and we can definitely help you. Compassion would be happy to cover a few months' support for you :). We have covered your support for Pierre through the month of July, and your support for Pierre will resume in August. This is our gift to you, so you don't need to reimburse Compassion. We sincerely pray that your situation improves. Have a blessed day!

Hi Haleigh,
I am so sorry to hear that you may need to cancel your sponsorship. I see that you have been sponsoring Lucien for quite some time! Because we value your sponsorship of Lucien, we would be happy to cover a few months of sponsorship, if you feel this would be helpful and would allow you to continue your relationship with Lucien. This means we would be happy to cover your account from June to August. Until we hear back from you, I have stopped your automatic withdraw, as it is set to pull tomorrow. Please let us know if you feel this would be helpful, and if not, I will be happy to fulfill your request to cancel.

Hello, I havent been in a good place financially lately and I have been trying so hard not to cancel and I've been able to keep sponsoring my girl up until now but I am at a worse place at the moment. I have so much going on with college and bills and I would hate not sponsoring Priscilla because I know how much it helps her. It would mean a lot if I could get some help while I try to get back on my feet. The ID is: Gh6270207. I feel really bad but I just do not have the money at the moment. I hope you guys understand.

Stephani, I am so sorry that you've been going through such financial stress lately, especially while you are in college! I am going to cover your sponsorship for the months of July through September completely and also reduce your sponsorship rate to $19 a month for October through March. If you need any more help at that time, please do let me know! I will keep you in prayer! Also, do we have your name spelled correctly on your account? I just noticed it is spelled Stephan not Stephani :).

Is there anyway that compassion could help me with payment for my child. I'd hate to cancel and ruin the child's hope for a better life. I am starting school and work hours will have to be cut down a lot.
Thank you

I am going to cover your support for the months of July through September and also reduce your sponsorship rate to $19 a month for October through March. Hello, I am currently in college and I'm juggling both school and work. Due to that , I'm not getting much hours at work and cannot afford the $38 a month for the sponsorship. The last thing I want to do is end my sponsorship because I know the child I sponsor needs it, but I can no longer afford it. How do I go about canceling my sponsorship?

Jaysa, I'm so sorry to hear that you need to end your sponsorship of Emmanuel :(. I completely understand that stress of school, work, and a tight budget, and I'm happy to help you. Please rest assured that I have cancelled your sponsorship of Emmanuel, and you should receive a confirmation in the mail within 2 weeks. I pray that your financial situation improves :). If you would like to sponsor another child in the future, we would be blessed to partner with you. Have a blessed day!

Could you help me out for a time with the payments for my sponsor child? I've just finished my masters and also had to have surgery that I'm paying off in addition to the student loans. I've been his sponsor for close to 10 years and don't want to sever ties completely! His child ID is KE082400174.

Hi Sarah! We would be happy to help you! I have started by taking care of your sponsorship for the next three months. This will cover you from August to October. If you would like, we would also be happy to reduce your sponsorship rate for the following three months to $19 per month, if you would like additional help. Please let us know if you would like me to also set up this reduced rate from November through January! :)

Angie, I am so sorry to hear you are struggling through a financial hardship at this time :(. I am only able to cover three months of future support at a time, which means I can take care of September through November donations for you today. If you still need another month of help after November, please do let us know and we will be able to discuss the situation with you at that time. I am praying that it gets much better before that though!

Shannon, I am so sorry to hear that you still have not received that refund. According to our records the refund was supposed to be put back on your card on October 19. I would think you would see that on your end by now though. I am asking our processing department to look into this and correct it. Again, I apologize for the delay on the refund and that we double charged you to begin with. Thank you for your patience as we correct this.

Hi Susan
I was wondering if I could get a 3 month break as well. My family is transitioning (new baby and new house) and will be scraping the bottom of the barrel for a few months. The $19 for 6 months after the 3 months would be a huge help as well. I was really sad about having to cancel my support of Japhet, but if this could be done for me I would feel a lot better. Thanks!

Hi Kassidy! First of all, congratulations on your precious new baby and your new house! I can certainly understand how tight that transition can make finances. My family moved across the state three weeks after my brother was born, and it was not easy. I will go ahead and cover Japhet's sponsorship for you through April and then reduce his sponsorship rate to $19 a month from May through October. You've been such a blessing to him for the past five and a half years! I'll also be praying that the transition goes smoothly and that your family gets to relax and enjoy its new member :)!  Have a wonderful week!

Hi Deyana! I'm deeply sorry that you were laid off :(. That can be tough and we don't want your sponsorship to burden you as you figure out what you're doing next, but certainly want you to be able to continue your relationship with sweet Jose. We're definitely happy to help you out.

I have updated your account so that it's current through the end of June :). I'm praying that you find a new job quickly and that this helps while you get settled in a new job and get back on your feet. Come July, if your situation has not yet improved, let me know. We're happy to work with you. In the meantime, you're welcome to keep writing to Jose! He loves hearing from you and I know would love to be praying for you during this time!

Emily - I feel a little funny writing to you this way on a conversation thread, but I was wondering if it would be possible for me to use these services you provide of a temporary break of the payments as well. As you can guess, my finances are extremely tight and I don't want to release my child until the official ending date which is in 3 years. I've never done this previously during my sponsorship, but am wondering if it would be possible for my current situation. Thanks so much.

Hi Katrina! Please don't feel weird or guilty for contacting us this way or needing help. We absolutely understand that situations change without notice or circumstances arise that can tie up our finances. I'm so sorry that you're going through a tough time but I am praying your situation improves quickly and that the Lord shows you His goodness and faithfulness and love towards you during this time :).

We're so happy to help you out! I've updated your account so that your support is current through the end of October as it was already current through the end of July. We'll cover those next three months while you get back on your feet. The next withdrawal on your account won't happen until November 15th. But if your situation hasn't improved by then, please don't hesitate to contact us again so that we can re-evaluate and if necessary, reduce your rate for a few months.

You're such a blessing to Mihret and we appreciate your desire to help see him through to the end of the program! He treasures you and you're a wonderful sponsor!

Hi Elizabeth! We can absolutely transfer the financial sponsorship over to your sister while you are paying loans and saving for a wedding. Congratulations by the way :)! Would you have your sister email us at socialmedia@compassion.com to confirm the transfer? Once she confirms, we can move Giovanna over to her account. Would you still like to be in charge of corresponding with Giovanna during this time? If so, we can set your account up as the correspondent account while your sister will take over the financial portion of the sponsorship.

Hi Ilda!

We're happy to work with you to help you to keep the relationship that you have with your child! You could take the summer off of donations while you get caught up on loans and car payments. This would mean that we would cover three months' support for you. Then in September, we could lower your support amount to $19 for six months. Regrettably, we are not able to do the lowered support amount for more than six months though because we would cover the difference.

If you need to change the debit date for your support like Lyanna did, I can definitely do that for you. We have dates on the 5th, 10th, 15th, and the 20th.

I know when I was in college, it worked better for me to pay everything for the semester upfront. If it works better for you to make a donation for several months at a time or a year at a time, feel free to do that. Four months of support would be $152, nine months of support would be $380, and twelve months of support would be $456. You could stop the automatic withdrawal or set it up for a quarterly or annual automatic withdrawal instead of a monthly withdrawal.

Let me know if either of these options or a combination would work for you.

Hello, I'm sponsoring a child in El Salvador and I want to continue to do so. However, I am having financial problems and I need to cancel the payments. I did not want to make this decision but, I am unable to afford this every month until I have a steady job. I actually went on a mission trip this summer to El Salvador and that's what cultivated me to sponsor a child since there is such a big need for it. I am a senior in High School but I really just need to start saving and I feel so bad for signing up for this and not being able to consistently help him. I sponsor Melvin De Jesus Segovia Cortéz.

We will work hard to find Melvin another sponsor quickly. We appreciate your heart to support a child but certainly understand if this is not a good time for you. I pray that you find a steady job soon and please know that you're welcome to sponsor again with us at any time!

Hi Susan,
I too am struggling with student loan payments with extremely high interest rates right now. Could I possibly suspend my sponsorship for a few months?.

My father is currently unemployed, and though I will have a part time job for the summer, I have used up almost all of my savings during my time at a one year bible college overseas. I want to start rebuilding my savings account and also have that money set aside in case my family needs it.

I would like to suspend my account with Brian for about three months, please. If my father has a job by then, I would really like to continue sponsoring Brian, but if not, at that point I would really need to cancel my sponsorship; we would really just not be able to afford it.

Financial Issues But Don't Want To Cancel.

I have been sponsoring three girls and giving $35 a month to HVC as a college student but I recently got into a car wreck and need a new car. I really don't want to cancel but with current costs, it looks like I'll have to choose between car and insurance payments or my kids. No matter what I will have to cancel giving to HVC. Is there anything that can be done so I don't have to give up sponsorship of my three girls? I feel so bad about it.

Kellie, I'm so glad you're alright! It sounds like this was a pretty serious wreck. I know how expensive cars and car insurance can be, especially after being in an accident. I was in an minor accident in January and my insurance premiums went up quite a bit. Since HVC is really not an option right now, I went ahead and removed this commitment. For your three girls, we would be happy to cover your support for three months. Since it could take some time to figure out what your financial situation will look like, I would suggest starting with that. Then after the three months is over, we can start you at $19 per child ($57 monthly) for up to six months or if you are still struggling just let us know. We could also cancel just on or two of your children but I know that is a tough decision. Please let me know which of these options would help.

It would be great if you could cover them for three months! That would be fantastic. I would absolutely hate to cancel on any of them. And then the $19 a month per child for those six months would really allow me to get back on my feet financially. Thank you so much!

Um, can I have this applied to my account as well??  I'm working towards finishing my second degree, and by the grace of God have been able to keep paying to support my Compassion child, but the financial burden is getting to be too great.  If I could have some time to work and get my savings back up it would be incredibly helpful!!!  Thank you!

Thank you, Ashley! I was able to locate your account. I have removed your extra giving to the Partners of Compassion fund, and have taken care of Helsi's support through November. Just contact us in December and let us know how you are doing and if we can help further. In the meantime, I encourage you to continue to write letters to Helsi. You are an amazing writer, and your letters really mean a lot to Helsi.

Hello, my college roommate and I got this account together and so I only see her during the school year and not during the summer, therefore she hasn't been able to get me her part. Since I work only when college is in session, I'm running low on funds and may not be able to jungle getting books and paying tuition and funding our child. I was wondering if I could have the same applied to our account, so I won't be the cause of us cancelling this great sponsorship. Thank you so much!

Hi Amber! We're happy to help! I just covered three months of support for you. Since the automatic withdrawal is setup for the 10th of each month, the donation for July is already in process. However, you will not have to make a donation until November. Hopefully, that will be enough time to help you to get back to school and working again.

Hi.
I just finished my first year of college. I had budgeted money for my sponsorship for a year at the end of high school/beginning of last summer. My hope was to have a job to continue paying for my sponsorship by now, but God has had other plans. Unfortunately, I have missed payments for the past two months, as much as it hurts me to admit, I can not continue supporting my child. Could you please help me cancel my sponsorship?

Hi Marianna,
We truly appreciate your heart to want to continue sponsoring Gertrase even without having a job. If you would like, Compassion would be happy to cover the couple months that you had missed in addition to the next three months to allow you time to find a job. This means that your next sponsorship contribution would not be due until November. Please let us know if you feel this would allow you to continue your relationship with Gertrase. :)

Hello Susai,
We do agree with you. Many children need extra funding to be able to go to school, have enough to eat and a safe house to live in. Compassion was able to work for nearly 50 years in India. We began working in India in 1968, but sadly due to changes in government regulations, we did have to discontinue doing so. Compassion will continue to keep India in our prayers!

Sponsor Payment.

Hello, I'm sponsoring a child in Bolivia and I want to continue to do so. However, I am having financial problems and want to know if there's any way I can lower the payments until I'm able to find a steady job. Thanks.

Very Sad.

I am very sad to say that due to financial reasons, I am looking at the possibility that I may have to cancel my sponsorship of Jose and Kevin. I really do not want to cancel either one of them, these boys need my family and we need them. I know how it feels to think that no one loves you, and to feel abandoned. Unfortunately due to medical reasons I have been out of work since March, and just recently found out that I will not be able to return to work. We can not afford the monthly payments right now. Is there a way to stay in contact with the boys and suspend the payments only for a month or two?
Thank You

Mary,

Wow, I'm so sorry that you have been out of work so long. I hope that you've been able to get disability or something during this time so that you're not going completely without an income. I will be praying for healing soon and hope that God has been really meeting you during this time of recovery. I so appreciate your heart of concern for your children as well! We really want to be able to help you to keep the very special relationship that you have with them if at all possible. I just covered the next three months of support for you. Please continue to stay connected through letters to your children since you are still sponsoring them during this time. Let us know how you are doing in October and we will reassess our options at that point. :)

Susan,

Thank you, so much for doing that for me. You just showed not only me; but my own children that there is kindness in the world. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sometimes I forget that the Lord shows blessings when we least expect, but you helped to renew my spirit, just when I needed it the most. You have no idea what your gift has done. May the Lord bless you.

Victoria, I see that you emailed us this morning to discontinue your sponsorship. We have made Praveen available for another sponsor today. We're sad to see you go but we definitely understand. I'm so impressed and encouraged that you worked so hard to help support a child during high school. That can be tough and we appreciate your kind heart! You're always welcome to sponsor with us again in the future but have fun in high school and good luck! God is already using you in incredible ways to help others :). I pray you continue drawing closer to his heart as he leads and guides you in everything you do.

Can I get help with payments while I get back on my feet?.

I have been out of work for the past 2 months and I am not able to make payments. I just recently got a job and I want to continue to support my child Mercy! Is there anyway that I can get help for a couple months while I get back on my feet financially?

Are there options for sponsors going through a short term financial difficulty.

I was sponsoring a child with two other friends who can no longer support her. Unfortunately I can not fully support her by myself right now. I know in about a month I will be able to though. Is there anything I can do that will help me out in this situation so I don't have to cancel my sponsorship?

I am having trouble this summer, and would love to continue to sponsor Carisa, but as you can tell I am a couple months behind. I should be able to make a payment in August, but I do not think I will be able to cover June and July's payment as well. Is there something you can do to help? I am a substitute teacher and since school is out during the summer, I do not have the extra income coming in.

Hi Cassandra! I just covered two months' support for you to help get you through the summer. Thank you for your heart for children! I know it can be tough for teachers over the summer when school is not in session. We are so blessed to partner with you though! Do you teach a certain grade or do they just fit you in where ever?

Susan, my husband recently lost his job and I am faced with the hard decision of whether or not I should cancel my sponsorship. It really breaks my heart to think I am letting my sponsored child down in a time when his life is probably looking up. Not to mention this month is his birthday. I saw that you were able to help others out and I was wondering if you could do the same for me. I just don't want my child to suffer because of our current circumstances. He was waiting a long time for a sponsor. Thanks for your help.

I'm sure that this is not the only tough decision you have to make right now. :( I really appreciate your care and concern for your child. We would be happy to cover your support through the end of August and then lower your support amount to $19 for six months, if it would help to get you through this time. Please let me know if this would help.

Hello,

After reading this post it makes me feel better knowing that canceling the sponsorship is not the only option. Like many of the posters I am having a hard time keeping up with the payments. I am a single mom and with having to pay for summer camp and having to purchase back to school clothing and supplies I need help with the monthly donation. Please let me know who I need to contact in order to get assistance. Thank you

Hi Susan,

I came into this discussion feeling very concerned and upset about having to cancel my sponsorship of Bibata.  Can you imagine my excitement and relief when I realized that I have the option to suspend my payments and then reinstate them at a reduced cost?  If you could please apply this to my account as well, I would be so appreciative.  Not only are you all lifesavers for the children and families in need but you're lifesavers for the donors as well, as evidenced above.

Thank you!

I'm sorry for the concern and sadness that you felt going into this but glad that we are able to help! I have taken care of this for you so starting in November, you will be at the lower $19 support amount for six months. Thank you so much for your very kind words. I so appreciate your care and concern and commitment to helping children in poverty! We are blessed to partner with people like you!

Hi Susan,

Hope all is well.  We have been struggling a bit to keep our account current.  We made a partial payment today, but wanted to see if we could setup an arrangement similar to what you have been doing for others in the posts.

Any help your team can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Brian

Brian, I am so sorry that your family is going through financial hardship right . I understand how difficult that can be and we are grateful for the sacrifice you have made for Lenta and Jodson. I am praying that the Lord would bless and provide for your family. I see that right now your support is current through March 6, 2014. I was able to update your account today to help with the rest of March and all of April.  This brings you current through the end of April. Regrettably, I am unable to reduce your rate as it was temporarily reduced for 6 months previously. I certainly hope this helps you out during this time and please let me know if I can assist you further.

Katherine, I'm so sorry that you're faced with such a difficult decision. :( Yes, we do have some options for sponsorship going through a tough financial situation. It looks like you had posted earlier this month and we offered these options to you but we never heard back. Basically, we'd be happy to cover the months that you missed through the end of August. Then starting in September, we could lower your support amount to $19 for six months. Compassion would cover the difference and your child will continue to receive the same support. Most importantly, you could continue the life changing relationship that you've started with your child. Please let me know if this would help.

Hi Katherine! I have updated your account today. You will receive a letter confirming the reduced rate, and another letter as a reminder the month before the rate returns to the normal contribution amount of $38. Estefany does not know anything about the financial situation so please know that she will continue to receive the same benefits as she always has, including your encouraging letters to her.  I certainly pray that your situation improves and the Lord would provide for you and your family!

Hi Javi! Yes, we are happy to work with you to help you to keep the relationship that you have with your sponsored child. For example, we could cover your support for a few months during back to school for your toddler. We know this can be a difficult time financially for families, especially as your child is just starting school. Regrettably, I was unable to locate your account from your name and email address. Please post your child's ID number here, email ciinfo@compassion.com, or call 800-366-7676 so that we can assist you.

Hi Jeremy! I am sorry you have been faced with this difficult decision :(. Yes, we are more than happy to help you out during this time if you would be interested in continuing your relationship with Yoseph. I see that your account is a bit behind. We would be willing to cover the months missed and bring your account current through August 31, 2014. Starting in September, we can temporarily reduce your rate to $19 for the next 6 months. If this would help you, please let me know and I will update your account. If not, I am able to make Yoseph available for another sponsor.

Like the many others here, due to some current financial hardship I'm wondering if it would be possible to suspend my sponsorship for Aug, Sep, and possibly Oct, and then go with the reduced rate for the following 6 months? I definitely don't want to stop sponsorship altogether, but my husband and I are still trying to regain our financial feet after losing our jobs last Thanksgiving and I think this would enable us to pull things together a little faster. :-/ On the positive side, if we're able to assume the full financial responsibility again sooner than the end of the six months, will there be a way to do that? I'm hoping it won't take quite that long...

Silver, I am so sorry to hear about you and your husband losing your jobs. I know how difficult it can be to get back on your feet after that but I am praying that God would give you strength and perseverance during this time! I have updated your account to be current through the end of October and your rate will be decreased to $19 for 6 months. If your financial situation improves before May of next year, you may contact us and we can resume your $38 support again at any time. Thanks so much for for sacrifice and desire to keep supporting Anwar, you mean so much to him!

I'm pretty much the same boat as everyone else financially speaking. I love my sponsor child and all but I honestly can't afford him with college bills and saving for a car. I regretfully ask for help to stop sponsoring him. Is it possible to still write him even if I don't sponser him?
