I am about to start having to pay college loans, and the payment is more than I was anticipating. I would like to continue sponsoring my child but I'm not sure if I can; I am going to be cutting it close just to get my loan payments paid on time. Are there an options for situations like these? I would hate to cancel my sponsorship, but may have to if not. Thank you so much!

Hello!

I am hoping for some help with my sponsorship. My wife and I have been trying to adjust our budget to prenatal care costs and are behind on the last two months. Would you be able to help me? I don't wish to reduce my monthly contribution and I am confident that we are on track going forward. However we aren't able to catch ourselves up right now. I am so thankful for Compassion and the opportunity to sponsor my child, I want to make sure he receives everything he needs. Thank you!

Hi Jeremy! It sounds like you are getting close to getting to meet your baby! How exciting! :) I know that healthcare is expensive, especially prenatal care. We are happy to help. I have covered your support through the end of May. Please let us know if we can help in any other way at this time.

I just lost my job due to medical issues. I do not want to stop sponsoring my child. It could take up to 6 months for my wife and I to get back up on our feet. We love sponsoring Pranjal. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Please let me know. Thanks and God Bless!!

Allen, I'm so sorry to hear that you have been sick and that it resulted in the loss of your job. I can imagine how difficult that would be as your circumstances altered tremendously very quickly. I pray that God would provide for your family and I pray quick healing and recovery over you and that you'd find a new job very soon!

We appreciate your sacrifice and that you and your wife desire to continue supporting Pranjal despite your situation. We're so humbled by your selflessness and are happy to do what we can to help you maintain your relationship with him. Would it help you if we covered your next three months? Beginning in November, we would also be willing to reduce your monthly donations to $19 for the remaining three months you need assistance with. If come November, you're still unable to make even partial payments, you can just let us know and we're happy to help you out and see what else we can do for you to ease the burden further. Let me know if this would help and I'll update your account.

Emily,

Is there a way we can do the $19 for three or more months? I still haven't found a job and just started graduate school last month. I hope to get a job on campus starting in August. If we can do $19 until then that would be great!

Thanks for all you all have done so we can keep sending Pranjal money. Thanks for all of the prayers. God Bless you and yours!

Sadly, I think it's time for me to cancel my sponsorship because my financial situation has not improved, but has become worse. I wish I could have foreseen this coming, or I would not have committed. I know that there are sponsors out there for Ana and Tuyizere, and that they get connected with the right sponsors is my prayer.

Beth, my heart breaks hearing that your situation has not gotten better like you'd hoped. We don't want this to burden you at all and I have made Ana and Tuyizere available for another sponsor this morning. Regrettably, we're unable to send you a confirmation letter in the mail regarding this as the address we have on file for you in currently Undeliverable. I'm sending you an email now with the current address we have on file so that we're able to update it for you.

I really want to thank you for the last seven years that you have partnered with us and blessed the lives of these precious little children. God used you in beautiful and significant ways to impact their lives and they'll have your letters to look back on for years to come.

I'm praying that God would continue to show you himself and his goodness and faithfulness through this difficult time and I pray for financial provision and that things would begin to improve for you.

Hello! Very similar news here. I just received a teaching job (yay!!) which means I will not receive a paycheck until September. I am eager to maintain my sponsorship but my finances will be taking a significant hit in the next three months. If it is possible to suspend my payments for these three months I would be very appreciative and very willing to pay it forward in the future when my funds are replenished! Help?

Hi Rebecca! I'm very glad you got a teaching job and I'm so glad you want to continue your sponsorship! I'm not an employee, but I do know that Compassion is able to cover your sponsorship for 3 months and then reduce the monthly payment to $19 for 6 months after that. Susan or Emily should be able to help you tomorrow. I hope that you are able to keep up this relationship with your sponsored child for many years to come! :)

Rebecca, congratulations on your new teaching job! That is so exciting :). I have several friends that are teachers and I look up to each of them so much for the direct and personal investment their making in the lives and futures of so many children. Teachers are such rock stars; thank you for all that you're doing and I pray this transition is smooth and enjoyable for you.

I have updated your account today so that your support for Okodi is current through the end of August. We will not take any donations out of your account for the next three months to help you get settled into your new job. Your next donation will happen on September 15th. If things haven't picked up as you expect by then, just let us know and we're happy to help you out and work with you. You're such a blessing and thank you for wanting to continue being the sponsor of your sweet boy!

Hi, I was wondering if I would be able to have my sponsorships covered for three months as I have seen done for others? I am lacking a source of income right now and would like to hold off canceling my sponsorships altogether and see if my financial situation will improve within the next three months. If that is not possible, I do need to cancel my sponsorships then. Thanks for any assistance.

Hi Martin! I'm very sorry to hear that you are going through a difficult financial situation but it is so encouraging that you are wanting to continue your sponsorships even though you are lacking a source of income right now. I don't work for Compassion but the ladies at Compassion that monitor these forums will be back on Monday and I'm sure that one of them would be happy to assist you. Have a great rest of your weekend and I pray that you would be able to find a new job very soon.

Martin, first off, welcome to the Compassion family! As a family in the body of Christ, this community is here for you! You've just been with us for a little over five months and have already begun helping to transform the lives of Imash and Narthana through your support and first letters to them. Thank you for your kind heart!

I'm so sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch right now :(. I know that can be tough I pray God would bless your situation and turn it for good and for His glory :). He's a good father and loves caring for His children, including you!

We're more than happy to assist you with your sweet kiddos so that you can continue building relationships with them! I have updated your account today so that your support for them both is current through the end of August. Please know that they will continue receiving the same life changing support and you can keep writing letters to them! The next automatic withdrawal on your account is now set to pull in September but if things have not changed by then, please let me know and we can work with you and re evaluate your sponsorship's.

God bless you, Martin!

Hi there! I recently had a room mate bail on me so my rent went WAY WAY up and I won't be able to sponsor my child until October when I start my job again (I work for an elementary school and don't get paid through the summer). Is there any way we can pause payments until October? Or is there some sort of financial aid? I would hate hate hate to drop my child. Thanks!

I've updated your account today so that your support for Mari is current through the end of September and the next pull on your account won't be until October 5th. Let me know if things haven't changed by then or if you will need some extra time and we can discuss what other options might help you out. Have an incredible rest of your summer and I pray you find a new roommate very soon!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Temporary Financial Assistance?.

I currently sponsor three Compassion children whom I love very much, but my financial situation was vastly different now than when I took them on, and am therefore looking at having to cancel at least two of my sponsorships, which I am loathe to do. I read somewhere that there was a temporary financial assistance program for folks who are in a situation similar to my own. Is that true? If so, what do I need to do to move forward?

Courtney, it looks like you are a phenomenal sponsor who has been impacting these three children's lives for several years now. We would love for you to be able to continue the relationships that you've had with all three of these precious children if we can. We would love to be able to help you if we can. One option that we would like to offer you is that we could cover three months of support for you (that would mean that you would not have to make a donation until September). Then we could lower your support amount to $19 per child (or $57 for all three) for up to six months. Please let me know if this would help you in your situation.

Wow, Charlotte! You and Alan have been with Augustin since 2002 and your support has helped him reach such an incredible milestone in his life! First off, thank you for the investment you've made over the years and for your sacrifice and determination in partnering with us to release this young man from poverty in the name of Jesus and encourage him in his dreams.

Our records indicate that he is expected to graduate our program in June of 2018. As you probably know, our program works to equip these children to be self sustaining, Christian leaders in their communities. This being said, in East India, we allow them to stay in our program until they're 22 years old and so he still has a couple of years left in our program.

We are so grateful for the time you have sponsored this young man but certainly don't want it to be a burden on you. One option we have is to cover your support for three months and we can also temporarily reduce your rate to $19 for up to six months. Let me know if this would help you and we would love to assist you in this way. However, I know that this would not help you during the rest of his time in our program after that period is over. We have also had sponsors partner up with a couple family and friends to finish out their sponsorship. If you know anyone that would like to help you see this boy finish strong, this might be an option to consider. However, if this is not possible for you, please know that you've blessed this young man so much and there is no obligation to continue sponsoring him if you're unable to at this time. If you need to discontinue between now and his graduation date, let us know and we can make him available for another sponsor at that time.

Hi Cynthia! I admire you for going to graduate school; what are you studying!? :) I see that you just started sponsoring Sandeep within the last few months. Thank you so much for your desire to bless this sweet boy and make a difference in his life!

We're happy to help you out if you think it's short term. I definitely understand how busy and financially stressful moving and starting school can be, especially moving accross the country like you are! Would it help you if we covered the next three months for you? I can update your account so that your support for Sandeep is current through the end of September and your next donation wouldn't be needed until October. Hopefully this would help relieve you while you get settled into your new home, community, and school :). Let me know if this would assist you and I'm happy to take care of it for you.

Once again I see myself forced to ask for help. My family current economic situation has worsened. I have a very poor health and a job is out of the question, and my husband already has three jobs. Again we have considered suspending our sponsorships but the thought of it tears me apart. If possible, I could use your help until January 2016 starting right now. The kind of work I can do at home has very little demand, so barely once or twice a year I get a chance for income, occasions I use to send some money to my two sponsored children, but so far this year I haven’t had any. Could you please one more time help me out with the payment?

Lucy, my heart breaks for your family. I pray not only financial blessing over you but complete health and recovery in Jesus' name. I'm so sorry for your situation :(.

We are so humbled and grateful for the sacrifice you've made and I can tell that you love and care so deeply for Vilma and Vaishnav. Lucy, although we're unable to cover all of your support for both children until January, we can help you with some of it. Compassion would be willing to cover three more months of support for your kiddos to bring them current through the end of October. After that, we can reduce your rate to $19 per child for up to six months (November-April 2016).

Please let me know if this would help you and I'll update your account. If not, you might consider the option of just supporting one child at this time. I realize how difficult this decision might be but we also want the best for both your family and your child and when you get back on your feet, you're always welcome to sponsor a second child if you feel led and are financially stable again.

I would very much appreciate this help, while I await on the Lord's provision. If by November this year things haven't improved, then I shall ask the Lord's guidance on what to do. Thank you so much. My sponsored children mean the world to me. I tell about Compassion to every one and frequently encourage my friends in FB to sponsor a child. I thank the Lord for Compassion Intl and I praise Him for what He's doing through this ministry. Thank you, thank you so much for helping me keep my children a little longer.

Lucy, thank you for letting us to help you out! A very generous sponsor actually offered to cover Vaishnav's support through the end of January for you. Because of this, please don't worry about making any donations for him until February of 2016. We will also reduce your rate as discussed for this boy to $19 per month for the months of February through April and if you need further assistance, we can discuss it at that time. I hope this provides extra cushion and assistance you were looking for. I have updated your account to reflect the other changes I offered above as well. This community is standing behind you in prayer and believing for your situation to improve! :)

Emily... I'm speechless and so, so thankful... actually in very happy tears :') I was discussing our sponsorship last night with my husband and very sadly decided that if, by April 2016 the Lord hasn't pleased to change our circumstances, the time when your most welcome and timing help will finish, we're going to have to let Vilma go and will only keep Vaishnav. Oh, Emily, I so wish I had the money to sponsor ten dozen children, the work CI does is so amazingly beautiful and crucial for those kids... I can't thank the Lord enough for you all. All I can say, again, is THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.

Hi Janay! I hope everything is okay. I'm praying that whatever circumstances you're under, that God would provide for you and bless your situation so that it turns around for His glory and improves quickly.

You've been such a faithful sponsor of Luis for the last year and we definitely want to help you continue that relationship! I have updated your account today so that your support for him is current through the end of July. My prayer is that starting fresh next month will help relieve some burden you may have felt and you're able to continue sponsoring him. Hello,
Right now, I have a debt that needs to be paid off and I'm struggling with making payments for my contribution. I definitely do not want to cancel my commitments but I would be needing help for about 6 months to get everything settled.
Can you please cancel the automatic withdrawal for now since I will not be able to make the payment for this month. I do not want both of my kids to be left out but I really do need assistance for now.

Thanks,
Valerie

Hi Valerie! I'm so sorry that you're struggling to support sweet Anne and Lixy but we appreciate your sacrifice and desire to continue your relationship with them! I admire that you're wanting to get some debts paid off and we're happy to help you while you get back on your feet.

As requested, I have stopped all future donations for both of your children for the time being. I have also updated your account so that your support is current through the end of September. When we reach October, we can re evaluate your situation. If your situation has not yet improved and you can't make any donations, we can look into covering the remaining three months as well. However, come October, if you're able to send any support, we'd be happy to reduce your rate to just $19 per month per child for the three remaining months since you'd mentioned you need help for a total of six months. I pray that these next three months, God would give you rest and encouragement as you work your way towards being debt free! :) God bless and thanks for writing to Anne and Lixy; I know they love to hear from you!

I am drowning financially right now and need a little help. I have posted before and I did not see a responds. I have seen that some people have gotten help getting caught up with their payments and then reduced payment to $19.00 per month for 6 months. Can I get this offer as well? I am in a difficult spot and want to continue my sponsorship, but just can seem to make the $38 payment right now. Please let me know. I feel that I need to do this but need a boost.

Hi Elizabeth! Wow, it sounds like you have a lot going on in your life right now. I am sorry you have been struggling financially. If it would help you out, Compassion can cover the months of September through November for you. Your kiddos will still remain in the program and under your account. If you need assistance for longer than that, let us know. We would be happy to help you out financially while you get everything sorted out. You can still write Alfino and Jordanis letters during this time. I know they are praying for you too. Hoping things settle down for you soon!

Thank you Compassion International for helping to cover my monthly payments for the past 3 months.  I was not able to cover the expenses I planned to because of car problems and other issues that came up this summer.  Please, I would need you to help out again for the next 3 months.  By God's grace, I would be caught up on all bills by then.

Thank you for your understanding.

Valerie, I definitely understand car problems :(. I hope you got them fixed! I'm so sorry that several unexpected financial circumstances arose for you this summer. I pray that God would bring you through this and help you get caught up and relieve the stress you might be feeling.

As requested, we are happy to cover your support of Anne and Lixy for a few more months. I have updated your account so that it's current through the end of the year. We will not need another donation until January and I'm hoping and believing with you that your situation will have improved by then. If not, maybe you might want to consider only sponsoring one child; but I understand you want to maintain your relationship with both of them and so we can believe for this and re evaluate if necessary when the time comes.

Please let us know if we can help you with anything else and thank you so much for continuing to write to them and send them love and encouragement. They love hearing from you!

Thanks a lot Emily! This is such a great relief for me.  No worries, I would definitely be very stable by January and start back up with my contributions again.  I am grateful to you all for your assistance because I enjoy what I am doing as it is all unto God my father.
I pray, God continues to bless us all abundantly so we can be blessings to others.
Thanks again.  I sincerely appreciate the help provided.  God bless you.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Is it possible to have one month covered during a rough time financially?.

This summer I went on a two month mission trip to Mexico, and I got to meet one of my two children! That was an incredible experience! But now that I'm back in school, money has been a little tight since I just got a new part time job and wasn't able to work through the summer. Would it be possible to just have next month covered, or lowered? Since I sponsor two, it's $76/month.
Even one month covered would help me be able to get back on my feet financially.

Sarah, I'm so excited that you had the chance to meet Andres! Is that him in your profile picture?

We're more than happy to help you out this next month! I have updated your account so that your support is current through the end of October and we won't withdrawal from your account again until November. Let us know if your situation hasn't improved fully by then and we're happy to work with you :). Good luck this semester in school and thank you for your sacrifice for your kiddos and the love you show to them in each of your letters (and your visit)! I know it's definitely a day that Andres will never forget.

And no that's not him, I was going to post a pic of him but it's too large for a comment. Anyway, thanks again!

Hi there. I hate to ask this, but can I put my payments on hold for two months. I have recently moved and am struggling with all the new bills at this time but I would like to continue sponsoring Sherly Gabreila.

I am behind on my payments because I have had a rough time financially with masters degree loans, a wedding, moving, and medical bills. I do not want to lose my sponsorships of Desmond or Paola. Is there anything that could be done to help? I'd be able to start to pay again in January.

Alicia, wow! It sounds like you certainly have a lot going on in your life right now! Yes, we can help. I covered your support through the end of December. That will hopefully give enough time for things to settle down a little. God bless!

Hello. I sponsor two children whom I love very much (Akshay and Diane.) I would very much like to continue with my sponsorship but find that our finances have taken a hit lately. My husband worked 2 jobs when we started our sponsorships several years ago and he recently went down to just 1 job. We have 5 children of our own, and the past few months we've just had a ton of unexpected expenses. I thought that we'd be in better shape financially by now but recently have been set back by several car bills. I would like to try to get things in order and continue our sponsorship. We have a great relationship with both of our sponsored children via letters. Would it be possible to get some help for a short time? Thank you, and God bless!

Deb, it sounds like your family has had a lot going on all at once and I'm so sorry that your feeling the strain of that financially. I know it can be tough going down to a one job income but I pray that your family sees God's hand in this situation and that you find peace and rest in Him. He is such a good Father and loves to provide for his children.

We're so happy to help you and are humbled by the sacrifice I know you're making. I have updated your account today so that your support for both children in current through the end of January. The next automatic withdrawal will not happen until February 5th. My hope is that this will give you time to get back on your feet.

However, if come February, your situation is not where you're able to continue yet, please let us know and we're happy to continue working with you so that you can maintain these relationships.

I'm praying for your car situation as well! Car maintenance can be expensive and stressful when it's our main form of transportation.

Hello,
I am a college student and recently ran into some financial hardships. I really don't want to cancel sponsorship but I'm cutting it very close in my finances these days with added bills and paying student debts. Would it be possible for me to keep my sponsorship but get the next three months of support covered and then lower your support amount to $19 for six months? That would really help and give me time to get back on my feet.

Hi Darian! I'm so sorry to hear that you are struggling financially right now. I was a college student not too long ago and I clearly remember how hard it can be to stay afloat sometimes! I've taken care of your sponsorship through February. Beginning in March, your donations will be reduced to $19 a month through August. In the meantime, you'll still be able to love on Vaishnavi through your letters :). Please let us know if we can help you in any other way. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Unfortunately I have had a change in my school that required me to quit my part time job that covered my sponsorship. While I can not pay it my parents have offered to help me until I find a job again. If someone could help me set up $19 for six months it would be VERY appreciated.

Hi Heather! We are so glad to hear that your sweet parents are willing to help you with Bhooma's sponsorship while you find a new job. I have taken care of your request. We will reduce your rate to $19 a month from December through May for you. Also, we don't currently have an active credit card on file, so you will be receiving a statement in the mail each month. I'm praying you find a new job quickly :)!

I am currently sponsoring a little girl names Aditi and I really feel like I am called to bless this little girl, but I am currently a junior in college and I am struggling to pay the 38.00 every month because of other payments I have to make in order to stay in school. For a while I debated canceling my sponsorship, and I have been praying about it and just do not feel a peace about that. Is there any way that you guys could help me. Thank you.

Taylor, I'm so glad you reached out to us because we definitely want to help you continue your sponsorship of Aditi if you're feeling led by God to pursue your support of her. School is definitely time and energy consuming as well as expensive, so thank you so much for your sacrifice and for the wonderful sponsor you've been for almost two years now. I know that she loves receiving the letters you take the time to send her! I also know that when God us, He also equips us with all we need and in our lack, He is abundant :). In saying that, His economy is much different from ours and I pray that He'll provide a way for you to continue sponsoring Aditi if this is what you're supposed to do.

Right now, your support is current through August. We don't want you to be stressed trying to catch your account up. I have updated your support so that it's current through February of 2016. This is our gift to you, don't worry about trying to donate any support until March of this coming year. In March, I have requested that your support be reduced to $19 for six months. Your support will not resume back to the normal $38 until September of 2016. My prayer is that this helps you get through the rest of this semester, as well as Spring and hopefully Summer if you're doing classes then as well.

Come September, please let us know if your situation hasn't changed and you're not able to resume at the $38 and we can re evaluate. Good luck with the last couple of weeks of your semester! I pray finals goes well and that you have a blessed Christmas with your family!

I can't afford support for our child. We have had trouble keeping our heads above water this year, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Is there anything I can do?

Ashleigh, the last time we spoke, things were pretty tough for your family and I'm so sorry that things aren't looking up for you just yet. I know how much you have wanted to try and maintain your support of Manuel as you've shown you care so deeply about him, but we also don't want this sponsorship to burden your family as it's important you take care of yourself too. I just want to encourage you that God loves you so much and he knows your needs and worries before you even have them. His word says to cast all your worries on him as he cares for you. Your his child and you're so precious to him. Even when our circumstances look impossible, he is working and moving in ways we might not see yet. Like a good Father, he cares for you and wants to provide for you. I pray that he would comfort you during this difficult time and draw you close to him. I pray he would open doors for you financially and give you endurance and strength as he pulls you through this struggle.

Now, regarding your support, we would be able to help you through December and then temporarily reduce your rate to $19 beginning in January for up to six months. However, you did mention that your situation does not seem to be getting better right now and I don't want you to be stressed about making your monthly support starting in January if you're not quite back on your feet yet. Let me know if you think you'd be able to make donations at the $19 rate starting in January, and we can cover your back support through the end of this month. But if you think it would be better for your family right now if we made Manuel available for another sponsor, then we can certainly do this and you're always welcome to sponsor another child again with us when your circumstances improve. You've been such a blessing to Manuel and we'll be sure to find him another sponsor very soon. It sounds like this may be the better option but please let me know what you feel led to do at this point.

Thank you so much for the encouraging words. I keep saying God is preparing me for something wonderful. A temporary reduction would help significantly. We are hoping to be back in front of bills this summer. If not, we will put Manuel with another sponsor. Thank you so much. <3
