I am about to start having to pay college loans, and the payment is more than I was anticipating. I would like to continue sponsoring my child but I'm not sure if I can; I am going to be cutting it close just to get my loan payments paid on time. Are there an options for situations like these? I would hate to cancel my sponsorship, but may have to if not. Thank you so much!

Hi, all. Things are still rough right now. Can I go ahead with the plans for the reduced rate starting in December? We are praying diligently for a buyer for our house back in VA. That would improve things for us greatly. Thanks for all you do for our kids, for us, and especially for God's kingdom! God bless!

Lina, I am so sorry to hear you are struggling through a financially difficult time :(. We certainly don't want you to have to give up your children and will do everything we can to help you! At this time, we are able to cover three months of sponsorship funds for each of your kids. If, after three months, you need assistance for an additional two months, please let us know and we will absolutely help cover those two months as well. We are only able to cover three months in advance. I've taken care of the first three months for each of your children today and will be praying for you through this difficult time!

We currently sponsor a child name Jhon.  We love our child, however we have come into some financial struggle.  We are hoping to be able to continue our sponsorship in March.  What can we do in the meantime?

I currently pay $45 dollars a month for my sponsorship. I currently lost my job so money is tight. I am trying my hardest to keep my sponsorship.. Can I lower how much I pay every month?

Madison, I appreciate your heart to help a child in poverty even though you're struggling right now and money is tight for you as well. It looks like you are paying the extra $7 monthly to the Partners of Compassion fund. This is a general fund donation that is not required to sponsor a child. We could definitely remove this commitment so that you would only be responsible for the $38 per month for your sponsored child. Also, we can lower your support amount to $19 for six months if that would be helpful for you to continue. Please let me know if either of these options would help as I would be happy to take care of them for you.

I don't know if anyone from Compassion will be able to see this, I've looked all over the website for help. I am currently struggling with my payment. I want to continue to sponsor my child, but I am extremely struggling with my finances, and I'm not sure what else to do.

Aly, I am so sorry that you are struggling with your finances currently :(. If it would help, I would love to cover your support for Fatima through February completely and reduce your sponsorship rate to $19 a month from March through August. If that would help you continue with Fatima and take some of the stress off of your finances, please let me know!

I'm having financial difficulties keeping up payments to my sponsored children due to not making enough money at my current job. I really do not want to do this but I just cannot afford to pay for my three sponsored children this month and the next two months. I don't want to stop sponsoring them. What options is there for someone like me?

Ladies, how are y'all this wonderful afternoon? I'd like to ask if there is any way I could get help with my sponsor donation for December and January, I work at our local college and will be laid off work for four weeks beginning this Friday. I don't want to struggle through the holidays but I also don't want to lose my little Dorca either.

Thank you so much for all you do

Michelle, I am so sorry to hear that you were laid off, especially right before the holidays. I will be praying for you and your family and that you will be able to find another job soon. We do have some temporary assistance and are happy to be able to help. I have covered your support through the end of February. Please let us know in March how you are doing. We have some other options that may be able to help at that time. God bless and Merry Christmas!

Hi, Susan! I'm afraid I'm in the same boat as my fellow sisters. I am currently unemployed and looking for a job to help cover my sponsorship plus additional gifts for my sponsored child. On top of that I am trying to save up for college as it is just around the corner for me (exciting, yet nerve wracking!) Is there anyway you can help? I feel confident that I landed a great job at my local church, but I could use some support until I am sure, and have the fonds to support my child myself.

I am almost finished with nursing school and the next few months I am not going to be able to work as much.. I really don't want to cancel my sponsorship with my child. I didn't know what options I had to get me through the next couple months until I finish school and start my new job. I feel so guilty about it, but I am struggling a little bit.

Gabrielle, I'm so sorry to hear that you are struggling to continue your sponsorship :(. I understand that school can definitely cause some strain on finances! We are so grateful for all the love and support you have been giving to your child, so we are happy to help you :). Compassion can cover your sponsorship for a couple of months while you finish up school, so you can keep your child. This would be our gift to you; you would not need to reimburse Compassion. I would like to make sure I have the correct account for you though. Are you sponsoring Mercy in Kenya? If this would help you, please let me know and I'm happy to take care of it for you :).

We are facing financial difficulties because my husband was just fired and we are struggling to keep the sponsorship of our two children. Is there any alternative for us to keep the sponsorships for more time? I've seem that maybe it would be possible for us to keep sponsoring them for three months without the payment, is it possible? Maybe in three months God will open a door for a new job for him.

Regrettably, I am unable to get into our system this week because we are in the middle of transitioning to a new processing system. Rachelle, I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling financially right now. Regrettably, because you are the only sponsor for this child, and we have to see to the needs of the child, there is no way to stop your support indefinitely without canceling completely. We could however cover your support for three months and you would let us know how you are doing in March. Please let me know if this would help. If not, let me know and I will make your child available for another sponsor.

Hello, I have had a number of unexpected expenses come up in the past several months and unfortunately, I am between jobs right now. Reading through this thread, I see that Compassion can cover three months and then reduce the monthly payment for six months following. This would be incredibly helpful if this could be done with my account. I don't want to stop sponsoring my child, but it isn't financially feasible for me to continue paying $38 a month at this time.

Kaelyn, I am so sorry that you are having to deal with financial stress right now and are between jobs. I am praying that God brings the right job to you very soon! In the meantime, I've covered your donations through April and set up your sponsorship rate to be reduced to $19 for May through October. I hope that helps you out and releases some of the stress!

Hi there,

I started sponsoring two kids in 2014 when I was at a different job making more money. I have since changed jobs, and have had some unexpected expenses come up recently that has me pretty strapped. I was wondering if I could possibly suspend my sponsorship for a period while I get everything worked out? I really don't want to cancel outright, but need some time to get settles again. I had seen some forum conversations where Compassion covered 3 months, and then the sponsor paid at half for several months after that. Is that an option for me?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

As you requested, I have covered the next three months for you. Starting in May, your support will be just $19 per month per child for six months. Please let us know if we can help in any other way.

Hi I was hoping I could find some answers or help. I love sponsoring my sponsor child but am currently struggling financially during the winter months and may not be okay until March or April. I was hoping I might be able to find some option in holding my payments until then. I'm a photographer and winter months are a struggle with money as it's a slow season. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Carleigh! I am sure it must be hard to be a photographer in the winter months when no one wants to be taking photos outside! Brrrr! I just took care of covering your sponsorship donations through April :). I hope things start to pick up for you again soon, but your kiddo, Kiara, will still be taken care of during these few months :).

Pattie, I am so sorry that you are not able to support Luis at this time :(. Since you mentioned this being a temporary situation, I may have an offer to help you! Compassion would be able to cover your donations for February through April and also reduce your sponsorship rate to $19 a month for the following six months if that would help you as well. You'd still be Luis' sponsor and be able to write him letters. If that sounds like something that would help, I will gladly set that up for you today!

I'm wondering if there is a way to put my sponsorships on hold for a little while? My husband lost his job in early December and we are now starting to really struggle with bills without him working. I am hoping that he will have a job in the next several months and we'll be able to breathe again. Is there a way to do this? If at all possible, I don't want to lose the connection to the two children we sponsor.
