I am about to start having to pay college loans, and the payment is more than I was anticipating. I would like to continue sponsoring my child but I'm not sure if I can; I am going to be cutting it close just to get my loan payments paid on time. Are there an options for situations like these? I would hate to cancel my sponsorship, but may have to if not. Thank you so much!

Hi ladies,

I had an unexpected and unfortunately rather large ER bill come up this past week (I am fine, thank God) but I could really use a couple of months of relief from my sponsorship payments. Is there any way to skip the months of June and July or put the payment on hold for June and July? There's definitely no need to cancel my sponsorships outright as I am not in that position, but the extra funds would really assist me over the next couple of months.

Thanks so much,

Emily Smith

Hi Emily! Gosh, I am so sorry you had an unexpected large ER bill. I'm praying for speedy healing. As you requested, I covered two month's support for all of your children. Regrettably, it looks like one month's donation has just gone through today for Eva. I'm  not sure if you wanted that to go through or not. Let me know if we need to reverse that donation.

Susan, thanks very much! I appreciate that greatly. All is well thank goodness but these things always seem to happen on the weekends when the ER is the only place available to go. *sigh*

Hmmm, I'm not sure why Eva went through today. I thought I had all of them scheduled to auto-pay on the 10th and I didn't show anything owed for May. Could you please look into that for me? If her donation for May has not been paid then we can just let it go through.

Emily, I apologize for causing some confusion. I just realized that this was actually a credit for Eva being applied to June's support and not a payment.

Susan, I am in the same boat with many of these people on here. I am a senior in college and I have been supporting Sara for a couple years now throughout my college career. I have lived with my parents for three years and had a full time job so I have had the money to support Sara. However, I am getting married in a couple weeks, moving into my first apartment, and will be student teaching in the fall and will not have a job until sometime after December. My husband and I will be completely on our own financially in a couple weeks and I will have no income until (hopefully) the first of next year. I have been dreading having to cancel my membership and it has broken my heart, but then I have been reading in some situations where things can be done to where we will not have to cancel our sponsorship. Is this possible for me?

Hi Teagan! First of all congratulations to you and your soon to be husband! I will be praying for a beautiful strong marriage for you both!
Secondly, we would be more than happy to help you! We are happy to cover the next three months for you and then for the following three months we can reduce your sponsorship fee to just $19 a month. This means that we would cover July, August and September, and then you would be on a $19 rate for October, November and December. Please let us know if you feel like this would be helpful! :)

Stephen, I am able to cover the missed months of April through June for your sponsored children. Regrettably, I am not able to cover more than that for you at this time. I can reduce your sponsorship rate to $19 per child for the month of July as well to help you ease back into the sponsorship rate. If that would help you out, please do let me know and I will take care of it for you right away!

My husband and I are full time college students...And we just found out that I am pregnant. With saving up for next semester, fixing his car, and now medical fees...I don't know how I can continue covering my sponsorship. Ive heard that sometimes compassion will lower the payments in certain situations. Is that true?

Hi Just a girl looking for more! Wow! It sounds like you got a lot of changes going on in your life! Change can be beautiful, but it can also be stressful, and sometimes it is both at the same time. I will be praying that as you go through pregnancy you will be blessed with little daily joys reminding you that God is with you amidst it all.

We are able to lower the support amount to $19. Regrettably, this would be a short term reduced rate because Compassion would cover the difference during that time period. The most that we could do would be nine months. Do you think this would help? Or we could also cover the support over the summer so you can save up through the end of August and then go to the $19 rate September through March.

Michael, I am sorry to hear that you are needing to be off work due to surgery and sincerely hope that you are on the road to recovery and full healing soon! We would be happy to cover your support through the end of August for you if it would help you to keep the relationship that you have started with your sponsored child. We could also lower your support amount to $19 for a few months after that to help you get back on your feet. Please let me know if this would  help you in your situation. Also, regrettably, I was unable to locate your account by your name and email address, please post your child's ID number or your sponsor number here so that we can further assist you.

Ashlyn, I completely understand having to make that hard decision as it was one I faced myself when I was in college! I'm so sorry you cannot continue to sponsor Veisy, but know that you have been an incredible blessing in her life over the last two years. I can tell you have a deep love for this precious little girl, and the Lord will continue to use your letters to encourage her for many years to come. I will go ahead and place her back up for sponsorship for you today. If you are able to sponsor again in the future, we would be honored to partner with you again at that time!

Our income will soon be cut to less than half and we will no longer have health insurance; the last thing I want to do is cancel my sponsorship; but I may very well have to, and soon. Is there any way to transfer my sponsor child to someone else so I know she won't miss out? Or can I still donate to her when we have available funds again even if I am not sponsoring her? Are there any other suggestions or help you could offer? Thanks

Brittney and Jeremy, I am so sorry to hear that your family is going through a significant cutback in employment and benefits! I totally understand your heartbreak over the decision you need to make regarding your sponsorship for Manishimwe. Yes, you can absolutely have the sponsorship transferred over to someone else you know who wants to help! We would need to hear from both of you to confirm that it is ok to move her to a new sponsor account. If the person would be willing to leave you as the correspondent sponsor, which means you'd be the one continuing to write and receive letters from Manishimwe, we can also set it up that way. Your friend would financially support the child while you'd be able to continue to have the relationship. Just a few options we have that could work for you :).

I have a special place in my heart for these Compassion kids, and i have always wanted to do all i could to help them. But i now have three sponsored children, and i'm not sure if i can keep them all. I'm only 21, and while i had my finances in order before, my student loans are kicking in because i've taken time off of school. Is there any way that you can help me keep them? Or will i have to let one of them go?

Anastasia, I am so sorry that you are struggling with student loans and your Compassion donations. I completely understand how it feels to be in that position! Compassion could assist you by covering the months of July through September and reducing your sponsorship rate to $19 a month per child from October through March if that would help you out while you get your finances in order. If that would help, do let me know! Otherwise, we can talk about different options, which would probably mean you might need to let one child go.

Marilu, it breaks my heart to hear that you recently lost your job! Please know that I will personally be praying for you during this time that the Lord continues to provide for your daily needs. Hi, Sarah. I have not been able to find a job. I think the wisest thing to do would be to cancel my sponsorship. Maybe I will be able to sponsor again soon, but I'm not sure how long it will be until then.  Thank you very much for all of your help, and I pray a sponsor can be found soon. Blessings.

Hi all,

You all generously covered my payments on all of my kids for June and July while I paid off an exceptionally high ER bill. I noticed today that I have an outstanding balance on just one of my sponsorships: Eva Santi in Ecuador (EC026101311). It is stating that I owe $76. The others went through and do not show an outstanding balance. Can you please correct this for me? Thanks.

Hi Kimberly! I am so sorry that you're struggling financially right now, but I hope you are enjoying the new job! I took your donations off of the automatic withdrawal so that it wouldn't pull out for you this month. When you are ready to set up the donations again and cover July, you can update your payment method through your online account by clicking on the "Payment Options" box on the left side of the screen.

Good afternoon Sarah,
Thank you so much for providing us your sponsor number so that we were able to locate your account.
We would be happy to cover the next three months of sponsorship for you and then reduce your sponsorship to $19 per month for the following three months if you feel this would be helpful. This means we could cover July-September and then you would be on a reduced rate from October-December. Please let us know if you feel this would be helpful to allow you to continue your sponsorship with Kidan. We look forward to hearing back from you! :)

I'm in a bit of a financial bind again, and I'm not sure what to do.
I've been a sponsor with you guys since 2012 and I'd like to keep going, I certainly don't want to let one rough patch terminate what I have between you guys and my child.
I know once before we worked out a payment plan that was a bit easier for me to meet for a few months, but I'm not sure if that was just a one time deal or not.
I've told you this before, but my family and I are working together to make the new family business work, but since it's new it still hasn't taken off to a comfortable level.
While we are now able to hold our heads a bit above water, we're still a bit strapped financially.
What can I work out with you guys?
I know you said you wouldn't take away my opportunity to be a sponsor, but it's been a huge stress to me that I have been struggling to meet every payment.
I look forward to your reply.
Regards,
Lauren

Lauren, I am deeply sorry to hear that you and your family have been facing so many hardships :’(. My heart goes out to you in this very difficult and stressful situation. Regrettably, we are only able to help for so many months before we cannot help anymore. However, because we are extremely grateful for sponsors like you who have sacrificed so much to invest in your precious child’s life, Compassion would be happy to help you catch up. Therefore, I have covered your support for the months of May and June, so you can start fresh in this month of July. Sadly, we have reached a place where we are unable to be of further help moving forward. I’m so sorry, and I sincerely hope and pray that your financial situation improves. I pray that God will bless your family business with favor and provision. We cannot thank you enough for your amazing heart for this ministry and for your sweet Ivan. God bless you!

Unfortunately my circumstances haven't improved enough to re-enroll in courses this fall and loans that were in grace period are entering repayment in August translating to additional financial burden. I very much appreciate the gift of no payments for the past several months but I still find myself unable to fully support both of my sponsored children. I still would hate to cancel their sponsorships, is there any way to have a reduced cost for sponsorship for the next few months? I hate asking for assistance but I want to continue their sponsorship in the hope that my situation will improve. I am adjusting my budget and looking into a second job to supplement my income. It is hard to foresee when things will turn around but I am hopeful by the end of the year to have everything where it needs to be. Here is my information, any help would be greatly appreciated!
