I am about to start having to pay college loans, and the payment is more than I was anticipating. I would like to continue sponsoring my child but I'm not sure if I can; I am going to be cutting it close just to get my loan payments paid on time. Are there an options for situations like these? I would hate to cancel my sponsorship, but may have to if not. Thank you so much!

Hi, thank you always for your hard work!

I have run into some unexpected financial problem and is struggling with my sponsorship payment. My sponsor number is 06616474.

I do not want to cancel Cyrus' sponsorship, I might have to cancel Rehan's if things don't work out.

Can I please get some help? (Probably until the end of this year?) Thanks!

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for your reply and offer, that would be a great help! I will also let you know in November if I can afford to sponsor 2 children ($19 x2) or just 1. Hopefully I will have some spare cash by then...

Thank you again for your help, I really don't want to stop sponsoring them!

Adri, as you requested, I have covered your support through the end of October. Starting in November your support will be just $19 per month per child. Please let us know if we can help in any other way.

Just one more question. I see the amount reduced, but I still see overdue payment in my account. Is it normal? Thanks!

Stephanie, first of all major props to you! I think single parents have some of the toughest jobs out there. May God bless you and keep you on this journey and provide you lots of encouragement and strength along the way. We do have some short term options that may be able to help for a little while anyway. For example we could cover three months for you and lower your support amount to $19 for six months or we could lower your support amount to $19 for nine months. Please let me know if either of these options would help. Thank you so much for reaching out!

Kelsey, I completely understand you needing to have some help while you begin college! I can cover your donations for August through October and reduce your sponsorship rate to $19 a month for November through April. I'll take care of doing that for you today. I hope that is helpful to you! Enjoy your time in college :).

I'm beginning my last year of college, attempting to learn how to juggle expenses and budget properly (and struggling a bit with that); additionally, I'm in the middle of a job transition. Bills and payments are piling up, and I'm not sure whether I'll be able to make my full payments for the next month or two. I also somehow already have an overdue balance on my account that I want to slowly work towards repaying over the next couple of months, although I'm not sure when or how I missed a payment. I've been sponsoring Sharon for almost 8 years, and I want to do what I can to avoid discontinuing my sponsorship, so any assistance or suggestions you could provide would be super helpful.

Anna, I know it's super tough trying to afford school, living expenses, and giving on top of that. We are absolutely blessed by your partnership and everything you have done for Sharon over the last eight years and would love to be able to help you to keep the relationship that you have with her. One thing that we could do is cover the month that you missed and possibly this month as well and then lower your support amount to $19 for three months. Would that help get you through this rough spot?

Hello,

My name is Priscilla and my sponsor number is 07405664. I am a few months behind on payments and I am finally able to continue paying but my card got declined a couple of times. Now I am behind $152. I can’t pay that amount in full but I would still like to continue my sponsorship. Is there anything you guys can do to help?

Thanks so much,

Hi Priscilla! I am so sorry that you were going through a financial rough period for a few months. I see that you made a donation today of $50 for support for your child. I am going to cover the rest of this for you as a gift to you from Compassion. You will not need to pay it back, and you can continue with the normal sponsorship donations of $38 in September :).

Taylor, I am so sorry to hear that your struggling right now but I certainly understand that going back to school can be a strain on your budget. We may be able to help. First, I noticed you have the extra $7 Partners of Compassion commitment. This is not a requirement to sponsor a child. You could maybe take a break from giving to that fund and focus on the one-to-one relationship with your child while money is tight. Also, we would be happy to cover three months for you to get you through this fall a bit and then lower your support amount to $19 for six months. Please let me know if this would help. Also, I noticed that we have you down as Dixon Taylor and not Taylor Dixon. Would it be alright if I correct this for you on your account?

Of course you can change that! Thank you so very much! That would help me out a ton. How do I take the $7 partners of compassion commitment away? Also will the payment changes appear on my account, do I have to do anything to make that happen? Thank you guys so very much!

Hi Taylor!

I have gone ahead and changed your name on your account to Taylor Dixon. I have also removed the Partners of Compassion fund on your account. You have already made the contribution for the month of August, so that is all taken care of! We can cover the months of September through November! Would you like for us to lower the amount of the sponsorship as well for the next six months after November to $19? Please let us know and we will happy to adjust this for you! We will take care of this, and then it will show on your end on your My Account of this change!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Important: Temporarily Need Help with Sponsorship.

Hello,

My name is Elizabeth and I have been sponsoring my child, Satria for a year now, as well as supporting Partners of Compassion. It saddens me to say that I am currently struggling financially and need temporary help with the cost of my sponsorship. I have been working far less hours since I have started going back to school. I am hoping for help with the payments for September, October, and November, and maybe reduced payments for a couple months after that. Just until I can get back on my feet again. I would appreciate it so much. Please let me know if this is possible. Thank you.

Also, please keep all of the western states in your prayers. We are currently experiencing a record breaking amount of wildfires, especially where I live in the Pacific Northwest. Firefighters are having trouble containing all of the massive fires in the area. The air quality is unhealthy and hazardous across most areas here due to all of the smoke and debris in the air. I pray we can contain the fires soon.

Elizabeth, I am so sorry that you are going through financial struggles right now, but we would be happy to help you during your time of need! I can cover the donations for September through November for you. Would you also like us to remove the extra $7 you are donating to our Partners of Compassion fund so that your donations would be reduced to $38 starting in December? That $7 helps Compassion with a myriad of things including disaster relief, purchasing Bibles, assisting with HIV/ AIDS medical assistance, and more but it is extra on top of the basic $38 sponsorship. If that would also help to reduce your stress due to finances, I can absolutely take care of removing that fund from your account.

My heart has been breaking for the western states and I am keeping you all in prayer. Colorado Springs went through two big, terrifying fires in recent years and the image of seeing the flames come over the hills towards your home are not ones you easily forget. The smoke has been bad down here because of those fires, and I cannot imagine how much worse it has to be up there for all of you nor how heartbreaking it is to see so much destruction to your home region! Stay safe, Elizabeth, and know that your Compassion family is lifting you up in prayer! Please let us know if we can do anything else for you.

Thank you so much. That will definitely help me. I love supporting Partners of Compassion too, but I should remove that extra donation for now. I may be able to add it again at a later date.

Thank you for keeping us in your prayers. It is very heartbreaking to see so much destruction throughout our region. My heart is also breaking for the states that have been impacted by hurricanes, and for Mexico after learning of the 8.0 magnitude earthquake that struck last night. So many disasters. It deeply saddens me. Let us all be united in prayer for our country, continent, and for the world.

I've had a significant salary cut and have been struggling to pay for my sponsorship each month for about a year. It's come to the point where I cannot pay it anymore because I'm so backlogged with bills. I keep putting it off hoping my financial situation would change, since I wish nothing more to leave my sponsored child stranded without a sponsor. But I'm falling more into debt each month and have decided I need to start cutting whatever I can. :(

Lorianne, I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling financially and have been struggling for so long. This thread is about getting assistance in the short term, but it honestly sounds like you are in a more long term financial difficulty and literally cannot afford this anymore. We would be happy to cover three months for you and then lower your support to $19 for five months but I'm not sure if that would be enough in your case. Please let me know how you are needing to proceed. If you would like to try the short term assistance, we can do that. If you need to stop sponsoring, please let us know and we will make your child available for another sponsor. I know it is not an easy decision and I am so sorry you have to go through this.

Hello Adam, I am sorry that you are experiencing some financial difficulties. I show that you are currently sponsoring five children and I have processed a three month waiver for each of them. This will cover the months of October, November and December. Thank you for being a blessing to these children for the last three years. During this time we encourage you to continue to correspond with your children as usual, they are not affected in anyway by this waiver and your relationship remains the same. God Bless!

My family would like to continue our sponsorship but need short term help. Money is tight at the moment since our family moved and expenses have just been adding up because of it. Like most who are posting here, I too am struggling with my sponsorship. I have been sponsoring my sweet child now for about 3 years and have gone through this financial dilemma once last year. Thankfully, Compassion was able to help me for the 3 months and then lower it down to $19 a month for a few months. Unfortunately I am facing the same struggle again. I am in my 3rd semester of nursing school and am only working part time (only one day a week) so that I can focus on my studies. Being that my hours are so small, my paychecks are only enough to cover my sponsorship and then some for pocket money. On top of that, I do have tuition payments that have been stressing my family. I would love to continue sponsoring my child for as long as I can but I am struggling coming up with the money. :(

Hello Merribeth C.!

I do see that we have helped you out before, but that was quite some time ago, and we would be able to cover your sponsorship of the month of September to the month of November. If this would help at all, we would be happy to assist you in this time. This would be the last time we would be able to assist you, but it may result in a tough decision to being made at some point of stopping the sponsorship along the road since attending nursing school I know is a bit more long term. Please let us know what you would like to do and we will be happy to help!

Hello Madison,

Yes, that would help me tremendously! It really is a tough decision and of course, I would hate to make that anytime soon. Praying our Lord will provide a way so that I can continue on. Thankfully after this year I would only have one more semester left of nursing school. Thank you so much for your help, and God bless.
