Super frustrated by my conversation with a Compassion representative

I got an email from Compassion last week stating that my sponsored child's "family lost their primary method of generating income as a result of the civil unrest." I called today to find out what that means exactly and the person I spoke to didn't seem to know about the email. I read it to him and he said it was just a generic email. I'm wondering if something happened to my sponsored child or his family. We haven't heard from him in quite some time. My sponsor # is 00535240. Just trying to get some information. Thanks!

Kelli, I am so sorry that you haven't heard from Yordin in many months and that your conversation regarding this most recent letter left you feeling so frustrated! I do see that the representative sent an inquiry to our office in Nicaragua to get updated information and confirm what Yordin's letter said. Most likely, his family either has not been able to work due to the civil unrest in Nicaragua. It looks like his father is a construction worker, and unrest in their area could absolutely prevent his father from being able to work due to safety concerns. We are updating our information as soon as we receive it from the country office in Nicaragua, but we didn't see Yordin's information on our list of impacted children. We could have sent that to you in error or we could have missed putting his name on the list that we go by when handling individual child information during a crisis.  This is probably why we sent an inquiry in the first place because we wouldn't normally send one if the information has already been sent to us. It can take between six and eight weeks for us to receive the reply back from our country office, but I certainly hope we are able to give you confirmation sooner than that.

Thanks Sarah. I sent a family monetary gift last week to his family. Do you think he will receive it in light of all of this unrest?

Kelli, yes, his family should still receive your generous gift, which I am sure will be a blessing to them right now!
